Get ready. This month's New Moon is on Feb. 8th at 20 degrees Aquarius. Where does it fall in your chart?

The New Moon

Every month there is a New Moon that occurs somewhere in your chart. The New Moon is the time when the invisible moon moves in front of the sun, sometimes blacking out the sun's light to create a solar eclipse. The New Moon is a powerful time of fertility and renewal in the astrological House that it falls in. Check your chart! Every circle has 360 degrees. Since the circle of the Zodiac is divided into 12 Signs, each one has 30 degrees. The New Moon occurs in a Sign when both the Sun and Moon transit though it. Every month the New Moon is in the same Sign for everyone on Earth. However, depending on your chart structure the New Moon will occur in a different astrological House. The Houses symbolize the fields of life experience and activity.

When Luna and Sol pull on the Earth from the same side, the way is opened for purging and renewal as galactic forces are able to penetrate the atmosphere especially at night. Listen closely during the three nights before and after the New Moon. You can hear the galaxy breathing! There is something special happening as the galactic stream of energy penetrates the night side of the Earth.

The exact syzygy or conjunction of the Sun and Moon is a time of vision-questing. For three days before and after the New Moon ask yourself what kind of new beginnings you want to initiate in the field of life experience that hosts the New Moon.

The three and a half day period before the New Moon is called the Balsamic Phase and it symbolizes the natural breakdown and release of old structures to make way for the renewal that penetrates your life under the New Moon. It is a very sacred, spiritual time when you can even feel the Earth releasing. Spend some time soaking up the silence in deep meditation, rest, reflection, artistic creativity, or helping to alleviate suffering on the planet. In this way you will be prepared to embrace the shift in energy after the New Moon. The same advice goes for the two and a half days that the Moon transits through your 12th House.

On the actual day of the exact New Moon conjunction focus on what you want to renew during the emerging lunar month. Imagine that you've been given a spiritual seed that is very special, almost magical, and reflect on how you want to allow this seed to take root in your life and bring fulfillment. Start out working with your thoughts and emotions to invite this wondrous opportunity into your life.

The ancients did not have common knowledge of the exact degrees of the New Moon like we do with our computers. They simply recognized that the moon disappeared for three days or so and that it was a time of going within and overcoming fears by returning to the source of life in the flow of eternal wisdom. When the actual moon reappeared as the crescent they were overjoyed. As far as they were concerned, the Eternal One had decided to grant life another month! Many enlightened myths reflect this truth of symbolic death and rebirth, from Jonas in the belly of the Whale to Christ rising on the 3rd day. This new jolt of inspiration and feelings of renewal stimulated much communal activity. In time, people discovered that the day after the exact conjunction was the best time to sow the seeds for the next cycle and to bring the energy of renewal into the physical dimension. When the crescent reappeared it was a time of high action, celebration, and vitality!

"Sound the Ram's horn at the New Moon, and when the moon is full, on the day of our feast" Psalms 81:3

"At feast and New Moon festivals, sound your trumpets over your offerings."
Numbers 10:10

"To everything there is a season. God has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of people; yet they cannot fathom what he has done from beginning to end."
Ecclesiastes 3:1, 3:11

Why does the Hebrew Bible admonish to blow the Ram's horn under the New Moon? Because a New Moon is a time of new beginnings just like the archetype of Aries the Ram that gives rebirth to the world each equinox. Aries symbolizes the pioneer, leader, adventurer, hero, and warrior. Every New Moon contains a major dose of Arian fire calling us to seize the moment and live with purpose and passion.

Why does the above quote from the Old Testament also say to blow the horn on the Full Moon? Because the Full Moon and New Moon are intricately connected. Most folks think that the fulfillment of the New Moon potential happens two weeks later under the Full Moon. However, the Full Moon following the New Moon occurs in a different House in your astrological chart! The actual fulfillment of the New Moon occurs 6 months later when the sun has reached the opposite side of the chart and the Full Moon falls in the same house as the New Moon. The Full Moon is a time of vision, illumination, adjustment, relationship, and awareness. If you planted the New Moon seed in the same house six months ago, then you'll feel great under the Full Moon. If not, then you'll probably be agitated like most people who aren't in rhythm with this natural cycle of sowing and reaping.

The New Moon in a particular House doesn't reach maturity and illumination until six months later when the Full Moon occurs in the same House. I had to repeat that just so you get it straight. Don't start something under the New Moon and hope for completion of the project two weeks later. Plan for six months. Eternity likes to move slowly. It's computer speed is zero. You have to slow down to connect with eternity. During that six months you should water the seed by nourishing your longing to grow and learn. Tend the garden that you've planted. If you pull the weeds from the garden of your soul and work toward the illumination of the Full Moon, you'll be one happy moon-gazer 6 months down the road. By the 9th month you'll begin feasting on the harvest of your endeavors.

The best thing you can do is to keep a Lunation Journal where you devote twelve sections to the New and Full Moon cycles that happen each year. That way you can write about what you want to create in your life and watch how it all unfolds, remembering that weeds build character! Challenges make you stronger. Later a you become more advanced you can start tracking the Waxing and Waning Quarter Moons as well. The key is to become acquainted with the magic of the unfolding rhythm and learn to harness it in your life.

Start simple. The first step is to find out where the next New Moon is happening. Where does it fall in your chart? What Sign is it in? That will tell you the archetypal vibration involved. Use the character images of the archetype. If it's a New Moon in Aries imagine a warrior setting out to face a new and dangerous challenge in the field of life where the New Moon falls in your chart. If it's a New Moon in Capricorn, imagine an organized manager starting a new business venture in the House where the New Moon falls in your chart. Imagination is the key to conversing with the archetypes. Use it boldly! Once you get in synch with this Lunation Cycle you'll be amazed at how it guides you each year repeating the same pattern over and over.

Where are you bringing renewal into your life this month? What House does the New Moon fall in? Always remember that if the New Moon is within five degrees of the cusp of the next House then both fields of life experience are being infused with new life.

New Moon in SEVENTH HOUSE
This New Moon cycle is a good time to focus
on creating more healthy relationships, as
well as resolving to work through issues of
intimacy vs. individuality. The New Moon in
your seventh house of partnerships may find
you more emotional than usual regarding
your personal relationships. Loved ones and
partners provide you with a sense of security,
and you feel like you want them to lean on
you as well. This is the best New Moon cycle
all year to work on your relationships, as well
asfocusing on love during ritual or meditation.

SEVENTH HOUSE: personal and business
partnerships, cooperation, teamwork,
marriage, bringing something to the public.

Here you are. This will be an extra powerful new moon for you eightdegrees. Read the article above to learn how to take full advantage of it. I would concentrate more on the first house interp. but you can also read the 12th house one.

Here's an interpretation for each house.

New Moon in the First House

This New Moon placement is a powerful one—it's a time to reinvent yourself in some personal way, such as with a new look or manner of expressing and presenting yourself. This is a personally busy time of year, when you feel energetic and enthusiastic. Think about how you present yourself to others, focus on changing personal habits in such a way as to improve your confidence in yourself, and concentrate on putting your best foot forward, as this is a time when you will get noticed and make a personal impression on others. However, factor in the importance of authenticity in your presentation of yourself. You do not have to, of course, reveal all of yourself to others, but the sign of Aries associated with the first house reminds us of the importance of acting on our impulses and believing in ourselves. This is a time when you can be brave and enjoy new experiences.

New Moon in the Second House

Heightened sensitivity to the world of the five senses, to your physical environment, and to the security you gain from the solid ground you have built for yourself is in order for this period of time. Attunement to, and appreciation of, the physical world of the senses is the focus, and this is a time to start fresh in terms of how you arrange your life in order to feel a sense of value and worthiness. Financial issues come into focus. Setting realistic financial goals, as well as formulating such things as budgets and other sensible financial planning projects, will be favored during this time. It is also a wonderful time for taking moments to pleasure yourself through earthy, tactile, and comforting endeavors.

New Moon in the Third House

The third house rules our communication skills, learning, methods, daily interactions and contact, and general "busy-ness". This is a favorable time for learning something new, feeling at ease in social situations, taking care of the details of daily life, and developing a mental rapport with others. It is a time when you will be more aware of your environment, and when you experience increased alertness. It's a good time to take tests, fill out forms, start a new course, write letters, make phone calls, and take care of daily tasks with energy.

New Moon in the Fourth House

Home and family may be a focus during this phase. On a personal, developmental level, this is a time to not only listen to what is in your gut, but to pay homage to those feelings! What makes you feel safe and secure? This is the time to explore and develop a sense of inner security. Although the fourth house is associated with the home, it is an angular, cardinal house that stirs up activity. This is a time of re-organization and heightened awareness of your roots, issues of intimacy and vulnerability, and it's an excellent time to come in touch with your feelings and needs. Focusing on your support system and the manner in which you support others is also probable. This is a good time to make long-range plans for the future, to do any type of re-organizing or even re-modeling of the home or home environment, and for family-related activities.

New Moon in the Fifth House

Creative self-expression comes under the realm of the fifth house, and a New Moon occurring here sparks the creative juices. Romantic inclinations are also highlighted, as are any kind of celebratory, playful, and just-for-fun endeavors. You will be especially aware of your need for approval and feedback from others, deriving pleasure from the ways your own creativity impact the world around you. This can be a passionate time for you, and a time when you might feel more bold than usual. If you are feeling good about yourself, and especially if you have taken advantage of the time for re-building of confidence that the New Moon in the fourth house brought, you will fairly radiate during this expressive period.

New Moon in the Sixth House

The New Moon in the sixth house heralds a time when new diet regimes, healthy routines, and satisfying work schedules can be successfully initiated. It is a time of taking care of business, handling details, and increasing your efficiency by re-organizing or simply by working enthusiastically at tasks that help you get caught up in your work. It is also a good time for analysis of any sort, as critical thinking is now at its peak. This period is marked by a desire to sort things out, but also to be useful.

New Moon in the Seventh House

Negotiations and diplomacy are highlighted during this period, as it is a favorable time to begin new relationships or to re-define existing ones. Issues of sharing and partnership come to the fore. Increased awareness of the need for someone significant to lean on or to rely on is often associated with this position. Working on, or resolving to work on, relationships that are mutually supportive is a good idea at this time. If you find yourself sensitive to the feeling of lacking support from partners, this may be a good time to ask yourself how companionable you are, and work on developing yourself in this area of life. You might just find that this is a period when you are at your most gracious. It is also a good time to make contacts and to make something public.

New Moon in the Eighth House

This is a time of empowerment. It is a good time to focus on issues of intimacy as well as developing self-mastery skills. You may experience increased awareness of others—what makes them tick—as well as your own internal motivations during this period. It is a time when intimacy and deep levels of sharing are heightened. It is also a favorable time to start a financial plan, savings plan, take out a loan or consolidate, and do work in accounting.

New Moon in the Ninth House

The ninth house rules our spirit to grow, explore, and expand beyond the "regular" experiences in our lives. The New Moon here may bring some restlessness and dissatisfaction with regular routines. Make an effort to initiate new projects or activities that expand your mind, feed your spirit for adventure, and stretch your imagination. You may feel renewed by a new perspective on your life, something philosophical or spiritual that you read or learn, or an adventure that takes you away from the mundane routines in your life.

New Moon in the Tenth House

Heightened sensitivity to your standing in society and your goals for constructive progress are highlighted this month. It's a good time to develop new business plans and goals, assuming the New Moon is not very afflicted, and a sense of renewal and reinvigoration with regards to your career goals is a potential. It is a time to focus on the elements of your personality that you are projecting to society and as a professional. Goals for self-mastery and self-discipline should be made at this time. This is a phase when you will be busy with career and/or public responsibilities.

New Moon in the Eleventh House

The eleventh house is a house associated with networking, making contact, group activities, and income earned from business. With the New Moon here, focus is on making contacts and reaching out to others in both a social and professional sense. It's a time to turn inner restlessness into fruitful contact with others. Heightened awareness of your position in life within the context of the group, rather than through self-centered focus, is probable with this position of the New Moon, as well as a need for social security. Goals that involve networking, making connections with others, joining or strengthening ties in a group project/activity, and nurturing good will are the focus this month.

New Moon in the Twelfth House

This is a period of review, letting go, and recharging one's spiritual and, in effect, physical "batteries". Focus, now, is on fulfillment through service, empathy, and awareness of other's needs; but it can also be a time of withdrawal and some sort of retreat in a social sense, depending on your personal and natural predisposition. Some kind of soul-searching is in order, and the urge to find some level of emotional peace of mind will be apparent. This is a more sensitive position of the New Moon, and it is best to find some sort of peace for the soul in preparation for the New Moon in the first house—a period that is more active and busy than this one.

The New Moon favors these kinds of activities:

In Aries, quick actions that yield immediate results. Undertakings that involve the self and the personality. (Staying power may be lacking). Self-assertion, taking on challenges, beginning short-term projects.
In Taurus, substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.
In Gemini, mental and communicative actions, and more than one activity at once. Reading, learning, letters and emails, errands.
In Cancer, domestic activities, those that involve awareness of personal needs. Home decor, family get-togethers.
In Leo, creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.
In Virgo, mental pursuits, work activities, services, and routines. Activities that would benefit from tending to details.
In Libra, relationship issues, activities involving teamwork and cooperation, activities that involve self-examination, activities related to beauty.
In Scorpio, taxes, accounting, intimacy issues, psychological examinations, research, self-examination, getting rid of old things.
In Sagittarius, adventurous activities that involve "winging it", travel, higher education, advertising, sports, physical activity.
In Capricorn, long-term activities that yield slow but steady results, practical undertakings, career issues, making a business plan, practical investments.
In Aquarius, unusual or radical undertakings, social pursuits, group projects, trying something new, joining a group.
In Pisces, imaginative undertakings, mystical or spiritual pursuits, inner development, music and drama, going on a retreat, activities involving water. http://www.cafeastrology.com/newmooninhouses.html

Thank you so much for sharing this. I always forget about these events. So I looked it up and well it's happening in the 4th/5th. And falls right between my Venus and Sun- a degree away from each. Sounds good to me!

Thanks so much Natasha! This is so exciting. I love creating ritual around the moon- it's actually a practice that I'm beginning in earnest during this moon cycle. I'm starting a lunar manifestation joural. The first house interpretation seemed very fitting- "a new look or manner of expressing yourself" I've been agonizing over wanting to get my hair cut short (something I've never done) and now I'm thinking I should go for it!

hey 26,
yeah it sound like it will be important. Actually, it's funny how it mentions the 3 1/2 days thing because just about that long ago- when all the planets went into Aquarius, I experienced this amazing feeling of newness- I wrote a thread about it. And now it's the new moon- and it's in AQUARIUS and it's conjuct all those lovely things and well yes this is all very very good and I'm oh so glad.

Thank you, 26taurus!
Very considerate of you.

I once got a chance to speak with a very popular medium. Among other things, she told me I had done a lot of work in past lives with the Moon, "especially the New Moon". I've yet to look into it (still learning the basics, I guess; though I know, that, alone, can take lifetimes.), but I'm curious.

Thanx again for the info,
Heart-Shaped Steve

Hi eightdegrees. BTW I'm the other Taurus. The 26th one, not Natasha. Dont worry, it happens all the time. The lunar manifestation journal sounds great! Happy New Moon to you. Hope it's a good one.

Hey whiterabbit. Yeah it does sound like it will be an important one for you. I hope you get everything you "wish" for.

Hi Steve! No problem. Wow, that's interesting. Hmm...I wonder what exactly she meant by that. Curious indeed! Best of luck.

I'm only wishing my best for two things (with no hurt, harm, or danger to anyone or anything):

1) A closer stronger relationship both with Tony, and with Tara
2) A sense of belonging within the coed fraternity I'm pledging into...

These are both highly appropriate wishes, considering the New Moon will be in my 11th house

Been thinking alot about this string, Since my new moon is in the 7th house, and so to plant some seeds come due in July? (that sounds about right, by then Saturn will be done it's 2 and a half year transit and quit scr@wing with me *ahem* I mean teaching me all those wonderful lessons I so gracefully acknowledge )

So today I finally got down to ordering Linda's books I don't have Gooberz, Starsigns (both of which I practically wore out while they passed through my life a few years back, Starsigns I got from an interlibrary loan + I kept it so long they threatened to send the library police on me !!!) Venus trines at midnight (never read, so excited) Plus a few recomended Astrology books...

AND new to me went out on a limb and got a book on handwriting analysis -anybody into that here? (wonder what forum that would fall under?) always been interested in learning that - samples are so easy to come by!!! (can be ackward with acquaintances to ask for a birthtime)

Also, gonna take some xmas money I stashed away and get a scanner so soon I want to be contributing to yellow wax!!! the scanner I'm getting has OCR software so I should be able to scan text from above mentioned books to share with all of you!!!

Can't wait!!! ( stamps foot impatiently) hope they get hear soon!!!

VAA, "Tony and Tara" are your turtles right?

You are welcome all! Delerious that sounds great.

Hi GeminiAries,

From what I've learned, the day of the New Moon is the best day to concentrate on your wishes. It is even better if you write them down. There is a great book out called "New Moon Astrology" by Jan Spiller that goes into more detail. I dont have the book but I've read alot of it while at the bookstore. She explains it better but honestly there is no EXACT time to do it. The whole day of the New moon is the best time to do it though. And even the day after.

In all honesty, you can learn to manifest what you want any day of the week, month or year. The energies of the New Moon are helpful but the power of your thoughs and manifesting your desires are ALWAYS availiable. There is a great book out called "Ask and It Is Given" by Esther and Jerry Hicks on this. There is also tons of info on the web. Your thoughts have power, learn how to use them wisely.

Dont worry you wont do anything wrong. Just by concentrating on what you want you are already half-way there. However you do it - it will work out. There are no strict rules here. Have fun with it. And know that what you desire will come to you. What you focus upon, gets sent out and WILL at some point, come back to you. Keep positive thoughts in mind.

Here's a little something from an astrology magazine I have.

quote:
The day of the New Moon is infused with especially powerful energies for making wishes. These are times when "going with the flow" means taking charge. It's a Power Day - a time to take charge of our lives by taking pen in hand and writing down a list of up to ten wishes. Wish for whatever you would like to manifest in your life, but especially those things that you have not yet been able to attain, even though you may have wanted them for a long time. Focus and be specific.

Here is Jan Spiller's website, I've never been to it actually but it seems informative: http://www.janspiller.com/

Hope that helped! Best of luck.

"Your thoughts have power learn to use them properly". What you thihk about you bring about. Now im understanding my day. WOW this new moon could change how my year will develop!
"For success, your wishes must be handwritten on paper and ten wishes maximum are allowed on each power day. The most potent time is the first 8 hours AFTER the exact time of the New Moon; within the first 48 hours will still work. For clear success, its best to avoid wishing during those hours when the Moon is Void of Course. Therefore in February, your most potent times for wishing are: Tuesday, February 8: 5:29 pm - 11:17 pm; Wednesday, February 9: 8:59 am - Thursday, February 10: 5:29 pm. These times are in Eastern Standard Time and need to be converted to your local time zone."

Just read this on Jan Spillers website

Hi Gem! How fabulous! Now you just carry on living life and wait for these things to come in. While at the same time keeping in mind what you want and a knowing that it WILL eventually show up. Once you "put it out there", you must give it time to "come back to you". You've got to give the energy a chance to come back in some form. Put yourself in a position to recieve. Which really means keeping your eyes and ears open to it. The universe will give you signs. Open yourself up to recieve it in any shape or form. Sometimes the things you want will come to you in the least likely of ways. By the next full moon you should be seeing some significant progress in what you are bringing into your life. I'll give you a few good links I have on manifestation that I have. I also recommend picking up the book Ask and it Is Given. It's one of the best I've seen on the subject.

I'll be back with the links in a bit.....
