I read recently about the connection with Moon signs and perception of ones mother - for example Moon in Capricorn said "would see the mother as not being very huggy, kissy" and Moon in Taurus said something about seeing the mum as solid reliable and down to earth. Would anyone like to give opinions on how they see their mum. My son has Moon in Libra and as Viper very rightly pointed out they see their mothers as mad and crazy (who me)??? Love to hear your comments guys x

My son thinks I am nuts! We have a great relationship, and he is a great kid. Maybe I had something to do with it.......... lol

Moon in Aries see their mothers as Lively
Taurus see theirs as Down to earth
Gemini see theirs as Talkative
Leo see theirs as Proud
Virgo see theirs as Organised
Libra see theirs as Dizzy
Scorpio see theirs as Intense
Sagitarius see theirs as Judgemental
Capricorn see theirs as Strict
Aquarius see theirs as Eccentric
Pisces see theirs as mysterious
and Cancer don't see them as anything other than simply wonderful

That help Sue?

My moon is in libra and I def. see my mom as crazy! but in a good way, she is her own person and has always made her own path and didn' let society dictate her life. She also has the most unique sense of humor I've EVER come across.

and BR how interesting! My rising sign is gemini and guess what my mom is ... a gemini!

Hhhhhhmmmmmm........
Howdo I see my mother?
It's not that she is distant... she is very concerned with my appearance, and how it reflects on her to the outside world.. for instance.. we usually go out on Friday nights... I have a great time, and am usually quite the centre of attention ( Leo rising) and if I say something a little out there, or sexually suggestive, in a playful way ( who, me?! .) She throws me the look...
Yet she will be in line at a checkout, and tell the grocery handler intimate details about her life.
She's a Capricorn, My Moon is in Capricorn.
My Son's moon is in Scorpio, I am a Scorpio. he probably does see me as intense.. but who knows.... as he gets older, we'll see how it all works.

Aqua mooner--yeah, I did see my mom as eccentric, lol - use to embarrass the crap out of me, haha - the scarry part is when we get older and start to act like our mothers......and my 22 year old is already starting, and she too realizes it.....I keep telling her not to fight it, lol!

Yes, I pay alot of attention to this. There's a great book called Moon Signs by Donna Cunningham that goes into "the Mother in your Moon".

My Virgo moon describes how I saw my mother to a T. And it's interesting because my brother has a Sag moon, showing that each child really does percieve the same mother in their own way.

My mother was a good mom, did the best she could, I see the positive and definitely the negative side of my moon and how I percieve her. A very good caretaker (Virgo) when we were sick. Kept a very clean (Virgo) house, you could eat off the floors. She is the biggest health nut (Virgo) you could ever meet and she works in the holistic health field. Healthy living is her passion and she's always helping and educating others on it. She was a very hard worker (Virgo) and juggled two jobs to raise my brother and I growing up. Work is very important to her. All Virgo stuff.

But the negative aspects showed themselves strongly as well. She was supercritical (Virgo). An anal nagging perfectionist (Virgo). I could never live up to her standards and there was ALWAYS a negative comment to be made. She is high strung (Virgo), always had to be doing something. There was always work to be done (Virgo), chores, chores, chores. I felt like I could never relax as a child. Like I was walking on eggshells and like an employee instead of a child. She could be a very snappy, no nonsense kind of person. In the book I mentioned this says it perfectly; "order was valued over playfulness and spontaneity. This moon often represents a compulsive, supercritical parent who demanded perfection, then let you know you'd never get anywhere near that goal without her supervision. In this home the mother was either employed or occupied more than full-time whith her responsibilities.."
I can still hear that shrill voice screaming my name, that always made me jump out of my skin. LOL

It's interesting, she has a Capricorn moon and often talked about how her mother was very cold. Never complimented her or hugged her. Always had something negative to say. She felt very unloved by her own mother, an Aries. Who's Sun squared my mothers Sun (Cancer) and Moon (Cap). So you can see right there and understand what was going on there.

I really find this interesting. Especially how each child usually has a different moon, proving that we really are only seeing everything through our own eyes and everyone looks at things differently.

I think aspects to the moon should be payed attention to this as well. This will color the interpretation alot. Are the aspects hard or soft? That can tell alot too.

Interesting too that my moon is at the anaretic degree and conjunct North Node. "Mother issues". Her Saturn is exactly opposite my Sun too.

I agree that the aspects should be paid attention to, because I definitely do not relate to moon in taurus having a stable mother. Mine was and is anything but that, and I have moon square venus, opposition mars and uranus, and conjunct chiron (OUCH). It pretty much remembers the Moon in Taurus interpretation as completely incorrect in my case.

My moon is in Aquarius, and I've always seen my mother as more of a freind, rather than an authority figure. Quite unconventional, as far as mothers go - would party with us, even smoked pot with us occasionally. She use to let us have our freinds stay with us, if they were having troubles at home, or for whatever reason found themselves without a place to stay. She was really cool that way. I think she just enjoyed the variety of different people in the house.

She has some "strange" quirks, for sure. Some people might think she's nuts. I thought so occasionally, for sure.

She's the person who introduced me to astrology, when I was 12 years old.

She's a Sagittarius, which is my rising sign.

I'm with you on that, virgotaurustaurus--my mom seems the same way to me, too and I have my moon in Taurus. She's a Scorp sun, moon in Cap, so she can be VERY controlling and cold. Somehow, though I don't mind since we don't live together anymore. She's smart as hell and usually right about everything, so it canbe comforting that way. But, emotionally, not as much.

Aspects count,
Moon square Venus-jealous Mom
Moon aspects Neptune-idealistic Mom
Moon sextile Mercury-Talkative Mom
Moon in Cancer/8th

Scorpio/Pisces Moon/Venus in Scorpio/Gemini Rising Mom

Really talkative, jealous, insecure, and moody, we don't talk now at all, so there goes the Cancer Moon theory!

BTW BOTH my parents had a Pisces Moon, that's just too much for one family!

Wow! 26, I have a Virgo Moon…what you posted was spot on. I’ve always thought my mother was overly critical “nursing an invalid”?!!! explains a lot

NOTHING pleased her…so I just switched off - I thought if I didn’t share my life with her, she couldn’t criticise it As a Piscean that’s really difficult - it’s sooo hard to turn cold towards someone you love. Perhaps that explains my emotional detachment as an adult.

If I ever have children, I wish they all have Taurus and Cancer Moons!!!

Hmm....very interesting, but I have an aqua moon and my mom was very like 26's. And, like Pixie's she was always concerned that what I did, or said, or whatever reflected on her. She was a cappy..very much so...at least outwardly..I think maybe there was a part of her that was eccentric, but she did'nt want anyone to know that. Also something I had not thought about much is the acsendant thing...I am cappy rising.

I really find this interesting. Especially how each child usually has a different moon, proving that we really are only seeing everything through our own eyes and everyone looks at things differently

I also find it interesting how you can sometimes tell the way two people's relationship evolved.. through their kids. What I mean by that is, the sun is meant to stand for the father figure and the moon stands for the mother figure.. and the way they relate show the way your parents related at the time you were born or as they brought you up. So a couple who has 4 kids .. cancer/libra, pisces/libra, virgo/pisces, leo/pisces... in that order, might show the way their relationship and the roles they played in it changed throughout the yrs.

My moon's capricorn. There's two sides to my mum. A critical side and a warm hearted happy, optimistic side. She's a Leo/Gemini but Virgo asc does constantly criticize lol but it's not to bad.

quote:
Moon in Capricorn said "would see the mother as not being very huggy, kissy"

That's spot on. She's not very huggy, kissy, though she gives bear hugs every now and then - not often though

I apologize for the slightly scattered nature of this post. I tried to write it while Meg played with her toys/tried to type/attempted to eat cat food.

That's a good point re: paying attention to the aspects.

For example, my husband has his Moon in Taurus - good placement.
He then also has all of these aspects:
Moon Opposition Pluto
Moon Opposition Saturn
Sun Square Moon
Moon Trine Midheaven
Moon Trine Neptune
Moon Sextile Mars

Needless to say, he has quite a complex relationship with his Mom.

I then have an Aquarian Moon.
As with lioneye, my Mom's much more a friend to me than a "Mother", especially at this point in my life.
Given these aspects,
Moon Opposition Midheaven
Moon Square Ascendant
Moon Square Venus
Moon Trine Saturn,
I can also say that there had been a fair amount of push-and-pull between us as well when I was younger.

Does anyone out there have a good link explaining the aspects made to the Moon and their relationship to your Mom?
-------

A fun (slightly masochistic) excercise:
Try to guess how your child feels about you/will feel about you given their Moon's placement.
My kiddo (10 mos old) has a Gemini Moon in the 11th - funny, as my Aqua Moon's in the 3rd.
She then has the following aspects:
Moon Conjunct Venus
Moon Loosely Conjunct Mars (Same Sign)
Moon Square Uranus
Moon Square Jupiter
Moon Trine Neptune
Moon Sextile Ascendant

I can't say much regarding the aspects, but I did find it interesting that both Neptune (the ruler of my Sun's Sign) and Uranus (the ruler of my Moon's sign, situated in my 1st House, and trine my Sun) make appearances.

I don't know what to make of her Sun being in Taurus/Moon being in Gemini. I have something similar - my Moon's in Aqua and my Sun's in Pisces - and my early memories of my parents' relationship are good ones - lots of family hugs, few if any arguments.

Continuing on that line of thought (but diverging from Meg):
Compare that to my sister (Virgo Sun/Scorp Moon) - also a good time, seems like more conflict but also more "family activities) - and contrast with my brother (Cancer Sun/Cappie Moon) - by that time there was almost constant fighting and my father was a full-blown alchoholic.

Every minute could make a difference. I am on the cusp in several aspects. My moon in between Aqua and Tarus, I guess I lean toward Aqua. But not sure of the exact minute I was born.
