I have a question about Mercury retrograde since one is coming up soon LOL. I have always wondered about this so I would appreciate feedback...

I know it's difficult in a Mercury retrograde to move forward and it's a good time to get caught up. Now, I take this to me that if you started a project before the retrograde that it is okay to work on it during the retrograde to get caught up. Now, what if it's something like working on an aspect/project that has to do with your life purpose? Do the Mercury retrograde energies support continuing work on these types of projects?

I suppose it's all intention and such, but I was wondering what you guys believe about this sort of thing...

Thanks

Well, you gotta do what ya gotta do....life marches on and waits for no one....but you can expect mix ups in communication...especially around the days before and after its station (when it turns). Transportation problems can crop up. Be especially careful when driving...maybe leave more time in case of detours or traffic jams. It is recommended to avoid signing contracts if at all possible. It's recommended to avoid purchasing electronics and vehicles. I mean you don't have to take your phone off the hook for several weeks...but its not a good time to have those really important conversations. But don't worry about it....you can compensate for it. Yeah, it's a good time to regroup and review and go over things you've already set in motion. Hope that helps!

Here's a quote about Mercury Retrograde from the Monthly Highlights at astrology.com:

March 19: Mercury stationing retrograde

Mercury, the messenger of the gods, is in charge of all things that have to do with communication, electronics and transportation -- and Mercury is set to turn retrograde for the next three weeks. During this time, it's challenging at best to get where you want to go or reach who you want to contact -- and dealing with computers can be an absolute nightmare. Well, ready or not, here it comes: three weeks of just that kind of fun. Fortunately, there's a purpose for everything. Right now, you're being asked to review, repair, redo, revamp and look things over for a second time -- until April 12, when Mercury goes direct. In the meantime, concentrate on fixing what's broken, giving something a second shot and being especially diligent at troubleshooting. Measure twice, cut once, right?

** Astrolesson: Mercury Retrograde

From March 19 - April 12, Mercury, named for the messenger of the gods, will go retrograde -- which makes it appear to go backward. This planet rules communication, so you can count on your own forms of messaging to seem a bit backward, too. And by messaging, think anything and everything that has to do with communication -- including phones, email, computers, shipping, travel and anything else that even remotely connects you to someone else. This can be stressful, so be particularly conscious of making more time for yourself and take plenty of time to just unwind.

Not only can you get through this time unscathed, though, you can actually use a Mercury retrograde to your advantage. This is an excellent time to do anything that starts with 're': redo, rewrite, revisit, reconsider and revamp. Mercury retrograde is also the perfect opportunity to reconnect with old friends and acquaintances -- send someone from the past a letter or card, and don't be surprised if you rekindle that old friendship. If nothing else, at least use your time stuck in line or in traffic as an opportunity to just breathe and refocus on yourself. Accept that things will go wrong, realize that some things will go very right, be as prepared as possible and take some time out to really enjoy Pisces's dreamy month!

Thanks for the clarification.

I work at home so I suppose I am not as affected by the whole communications bit LOL as some are in their jobs.

I once read that it was difficult to move forward during a retrograde so that's where my question came from.

I am feeling though for myself I don't have to worry about it as much as I thought. I am just going to have the computer angels protect my computer though! LOL

Thanks for the information...It really added to my insights about this for me.

Blessings,
Lisa

... just my two cents ... I don't give much credence to Merc Retro making everything go out of whack. Sometimes that happens unmercifully when there is NO Retrograde ... so ... I totally don't think about it ...

It depends a lot on the aspects that are forming to your natal chart, in my experience. I hardly feel a Mercury station when it is favorably aspected to my natal chart....and when it makes a difficult aspect at its station...I really feel it (especially with Mars or Saturn.)

Mercury is in my 3rd house...hmm...that could be good or bad depending on how you look at it LOL.

I haven't had many mishaps myself...I put more stock into the ideas of intention and creating my own reality
