I cry a LOT and thought throughout my life that this was due to the large amount of Scorpio in my chart. Then I met a brilliant astrology teacher who said that Scorpio represented "frozen tears" and it was the Pisces influence in my chart (I have strong Neptune, its conjunct my Sun in Scorpio). Would anyone agree with this, and are there any criers out there with different aspects (male and female replies would be great). Thanks, love Sue xx

I am a crier.
Someone will read aloud a tragic newpaper article, and I will cry. If I am angry, as I get my points across, I will cry.
If someone has had a bad day, and I see it in their eyes, when they start talking about it, I cry with them. If people want sympathy, they come to me.
I live by my emotions, I do have a lot of water in my chart, but only Scorpio. I actually have more fire in my chart.
I suppose anyone who is in touch with their emotions, will be in touch enough to let some tears go.
I certainly do. but I am also a mother, and I do cry a lot more now that I have children.. they open a floodgate, as you can picture anything involving them, and empathize immediately to those emotions.

*by the way, sue g, I saw your other thread, where you specifically asked for my help, but I wonder if you can link me to the thread in question, as I looked for it, and didn't see it. MInd you, maybe I didn't look hard enough..... Thanks.

I think my Scorp ASC and Cancer Moon predispose my release of nearly any emotion enveloped with tears!!!!

If I am angry, especially in discussion-I cry.

Reading a horrifying rape story in India in People magazine the other week (the 'virgin' sister of a young man who had sex with some girl from a higher caste family was gang-raped by 4 disgusting men from the opposing village as payback to bring shame on the young man's family)-made me cry in sadness and anger...nearly makes me cry just writing about this story.

Moving music brings tears to my eyes quite easily.

Watching my friends' young children on stage for a recital/school program makes me weep with feelings of being proud for that child.

I do have Pisces in Saturn but that is the only Pisces. Pluto apparently is my strongest influence in my chart.

I have much in common with what pixie wrote, except I have more Air in my natal chart than Fire. I also have a Grand Trine in Water. I wouldn't say I cry a lot, or even often, but that I cry easily. I cry at the happy endings in Disney movies. I cry when others are sad about something, sometimes I feel worse than they do about their situation. I cry at news headlines, especially things like people abusing children. I cry about injustice and I cry tears of frustration at life.
My Moon is in Pisces in VIII. I like the "frozen tears" analogy for Scorpio, but I think for me personally it's my level of empathy -- perhaps that's the Pisces, abetted by Moon in the house ruled by Scorpio. And I am too thin-skinned for my own good.
Neptune is conjunct my Sun and I think that has an affect also.

crying is something that has been a very vital part of my life i feel so alive when i do but for a whole year i didnt cry i experience a type of despressed anger that turns from aggression into frustration then later revenge and it smothers all tears i mostly cry when im very tired or angry so i dunno scorpio asc. moon + pluto 12 house
mars merc. cancer both 8th house
nept.capri so dont see any connection with tear shedding there all i know is that it gets so intense that the tears dry up before i start crying and when i do its so bad that i literally have to lay down i always cry from my soul

when i was young I never cried, ever. Not even when a relative died. :/ Sometimes i had to stop myself from laughing when i heard bad news. Its not becuase I am cruel or uncaring, its becuase I never knew how to respond. I would secretly cry at night in my bed though, but it was never about something real, usually about something fictional, like a story i had in my head that would move me to tears. I dont know what aspect in my chart that has that - maybe neptune??

As I've gotten older, I've become much more emotional - these days I can cry over the smallest thing - a puppy commerical on tv, a news story I read, a film... its wonderful!

I'll cry at just about anything that causes me a LOT of stress (although if it is something that causes extreme stress I won't cry until days later), is extremely frustrating, and sometimes sheer anger of mine will turn into tears. Also, being mistreated or talked down to by other people will make me angry enough that I'll cry. I'm assuming that it's my Moon in 1st house (and maybe the opposing Mars has something to do with the angry crying).

Hey sue,

interesting topic.

The other thing that nobody has mentioned is the way you cry. Are you the type that just silenty sobs, or are you more the wailing type??? I'm more the silent sobber.

As I've mentioned in another thread, I have four of the five planets that you have in Scorp. It takes a bit to make me cry though. I think it is because as a child, I grew up in a house where expressing emotions was not encouraged. It's not like they were discouraged either.....they were simply not addressed at all. So for years and years and years, I internalised everything. Became somewhat poker-faced to the outside world (but then Scorps are often like that).

When I see or hear of injustice (particularly involving children) it makes me nausoeus rather than brings me to tears. Like for example, last year's Beslan hostage situation. I did not cope well with that at all. And more recently, I saw a review on a german movie that's just been released. I don't know what it is called but apparently it is very ground-breaking because it shows the war from the german's viewpoint. And in the past, they had not expressed their feelings about Hitler etc. The particular scene I saw, showed a mother, making her children drink poison. I think she chose to kill her children rather than submit them to the torture that they may have received. To be quite honest, I didn't pay much attention because I was too busy trying to find the remote to switch the tv off. I just felt so ill. I could not cope with it. I did not have a good night's sleep that night.

Tears well up for me too, when I am proud. Last November, my nephew and niece spoke at their grandmother's (my sister's mother-in-law's) funeral. They did such a great job and they are only 16 and 13, respectively. Then, my nephew spoke at my mother's funeral in February this year. Though, I had already been crying through most of that funeral.

Also, with my own children, when I watch them in the school play, or at sport's day etc. I get a lump in my throat.

I think for me, stress plays a major factor. I tend to cry more easily if I am stressed. But sometimes, I almost shake my fist at the Universe and say, come on, is that the best you can dish up to me.....I'm not going to cry about that. I'm not beaten yet. Give it your best shot.

Yeah, so I have a few battle scares and I am somewhat stubborn - my moon is in Aries!

Good point, purple scorp,
I am also more the silent crier.
Tears will well up in my eyes and fall down my cheeks and I won't make a sound.
I have certainly had moments in my life where I wailed, sobbing, my belly just tangled and sore with it. But I have had those moments in solitude.
I also get the same feeling you described in my stomach. I very simply can't handle it.
A week ago, in the news, a man had a court ordered visit with his small daughter, and just to get back at the mother, he went to a busy expressway, and dangled her over the edge, sayng he'd throw her over.
When I heard the story, my stomach hurt.. I just don't want to hear it or aknowledge it. Then I heard he actually did it, then threw himself over. The little girl didn't seem like she'd make it, then I heard she is now in stable condition.
Things like this haunt me, and I often dream of helping small children.
I am literally haunted when I hear of these things. I hate that things like this exist in this world.

Thanks girls (no men hey) for your comments, well i am a wailer, big time, if Im alone of course. In days of old in Ireland they used to hire women called keeners and they would wail at funerals (I think I must have been one of them at some stage), I also scream whenI am driving or in the garden, like my music teacher said "you are one of the most expressive people Ive ever met" - poor Virgo husband hey? xx

A Moon/Neptune aspect in the natal will be a crier too.
A Neptune aspect will make you Empathetic, they put them selves in the other mans shoes.

Well, I wish I could be paid for my tears.
I've got the 'tear factor' going on, though, I wish I could feel the emotions without the waterworks.
They do get in the way at times, and can be frustrating.

When I was a kid, I stayed in my room, in tears, from hurt feelings.
Reading, writing, watching TV, listening to the radio, sad stories, heartwarming stories, ect.

I'm a bit of both type of crying.
Only alone, or in more pain than I can bear, would I wail.
Although, I do believe that the wailing gets it all out more sucessfully than silently sobbing.
The silent sob, seems an on going process, perhaps days or weeks of hurting, where wailing, has a more cleansing effect.
(unfortunately times for being able to wail are very limited). And I'd prefer to get it out and get it done with and be over it. (some of those sessions may include a good down deep scream, if the enviroment allows)

Another thing, after I had my first child, if things were bothering me, I'd wait till she was asleep in another room, before I'd give myself liberty to cry at all, because I didn't want to upset her.

I cry too... I cry when I am happy or when someone is happy when I am sad. I feel things so deeply and I think if you are that type of person who feels things deeply and is in touch with your emotions to cry is nothing.

Even though I try to stay in a positive and happy state of mind, I can cry very easily. Occasionally I get into a depressed and tearful state for hours and sometimes even days. I attribute it to having 6 planets in water signs (3 in Scorpio, 2 in Pisces, 1 in Cancer) athough my Sun sign itself is an Earth sign.

I know what you guys mean...I cry a lot, and there may or may not be a valid reason as to WHY. I have a gem rising/cancer sun/scorpio moon. my mercury and mars are also in cancer so that kind of affects my emotions to an overflowing response! I used to think that crying was just something people shouldn't do but I guess it's my way to relieve all the stress I experience. It's better than doing that as opposed to directing your emotions to violent means...

I've always been a crier...and the only one in the family to be so open with my feelings, because no one discussed feelings in my family growing up...but I never held back...my father would stand there, not knowing what to do, I'd burst into tears when my kitten piddled on the hall floor. He got mad at my crying, but I still cried anyways. I can't cry in front of people I don't know - I have to be comfortable around you to cry openly. Even when my cat, who was my best friend died a month ago, I couldn't cry in front of the vet (she was sobbing) when I brought my cat in after she died in my arms at home (long story) after a brief illness. I started to cry but stopped myself and wanted to comfort her instead...

I am empathic and sense another's feelings, even to the point of knowing exactly what they are feeling, be it a body sensation or emotion. For this reason, it's difficult for me to be in crowds unless I am prepared for it. I soak in everything. I cry at weddings, funerals, lost animals, anything.

I cry in private and am too sensitive for my own good.

I have a lot of fire, some air and Mercury in Scorpio... so go figure

Great great thread!!

I'll go through phases of crying. I know I SHOULD do it once a month, and it usually occurs, whether I want to or not, just before my period. It's like all the anger or sadness I hid inside me gets purged. While it's happening, I usually feel a unique mix of embarrassment and relief.

When I'm not letting my Chiron in Pisces sob it's way through life, my Cancer Moon can come up with creative tears. As for my Scorpio influences (Merc, Mars, Neptune), they are in the 6th House. So my Scorpio influences tend to make me want to be strong for others, especially when knowing that right around the corner there's that Aries in the 12th in the Empty Space of my T-Square.

virgo sun + gemini moon + libra rising =
no tears...no tears at all...

with the exception of that moment that arises when you thought everything was alright...
and then KABLAAMMM!!!
before you know it - sadness takes over - the nose burns - the eyes feel a strange sensation, somewhat foreign to a non-cryer -i cry for everything and nothing for only a brief moment...

not being accustomed to crying, when it does happen, i tend to want to see myself in the mirror (so as to know what i look like crying) and then i can cry no more...no matter how badly i want to!!!
*
did you know that there is a different chemical that is released in tears of emotion than the chemical found in tears of physical pain???
*
elephants are the only other creatures aside from humans that release this chemical belonging to emotional tears...

If the occassion is right, then I cry, but like some of u guys do, I don't cry over commercials, movies etc..that has no purpose.

Emotional problems make me sad(and I can cry if I want to)...there was a period when I used to cry a lot, but now I don't cry alot..I don't see any purpose in crying..when I get sad, I just talk about it, instead of whining about it.

I am very sensitive and do cry if I am upset or sad for others. I cry for people who experience awful things, I cry for children and animals that people mistreat or abuse. I also cry on most sad movies, even cartoons(I know, not real) but even if I've seen something before, I will still cry again at the very same part! I have even cried at a commercial that was very touching! lol. I have venus in Scorpio, also my neptune is in Scorpio. As well as Jupiter. My true node is pisces, Maybe that's why?

blue flame -

I personally think it's a bad idea to have to look at yourself in the mirror to see what you look like when you cry, unless you are a serious thespian doing research. What you look like on the outside is NOTHING like the richness of emotions you're inner self can experience with such a release. Maybe you are secretly afraid of losing control in that way in front of others? But if you are alone, don't pull yourself outside quite so fast. I can see where you might be one of the more objective ones of the Zodiac, but all the more reason to respect your emotions and provide them an atmosphere to be expressed.

Yes, we talked a while back about how different tears have different chemicals. Yet ONE MORE reason to let yourself cry until you do not need to anymore, as those tears DO contain toxins, and the body IS trying to rid them.

Do you have any Planets at all in Water? How about any Planets in Water Houses?

Autumn wind -

What House is your Aqua Moon in? If I'm not mistaken, Aqua Moon's experience emotions on a whole'nother level, and although Aqua is known for it's occasional detachment, when in the Moon placement, it makes the Moon act in quite uncharacteristic ways. It's like taking all the Aqua's concern for "humanity", and giving it tear ducts.

I think Libra's are also more emotional than most people think, maybe even more than Libra's themselves think. Afterall, Libra IS the first Sign which deals with relating to others. And if we were to make balanced decisions without understanding other people's emotions, we'd all be dolts!

And your Sag influences? I've never known a Sag who didn't get hot under the collar over something or other. It's what makes them so passionate. But Venus in Scorpio, and North Node in Pisces as well? We may have some similarities in how we are affected by sad events in the world, etc. Sometimes, I have to do a fasting of no TV, no radio, no news for a while. I'm a Libra with Mercury, Mars & Neptune in Scorpio, Midheaven (MC), and South Node in Aquarius, Chiron in Pisces.

Sometimes tears can come from anger, so I've just given myself permission to cry and let it go WHENEVER I need to. I've had to get used to their irregular schedule. Sometimes I'll cry all day, every day for a while. Sometimes I don't cry at all for a few months. It's not consistent that way, which may bug someone who leans more towards the objective.

Don't get caught up in the fact that emotions can be so irregular or unpredictable. It reminds you of your limitations as a human sometimes. Reminds you to go easier on yourself. OK - so they can be on their own schedule as if WE don't exist or have any say in it ... oh well!
