Yes, I do feel that studying astrology, and this includes my own chart, as been enlighting. At first it helped me articulate and understand things about myself and others. As time went on, I noticed I was becoming more understanding and compassionate towards people through my ongoing study of astrology. I believe it has helped me become a wiser, more thoughtful and more self-aware person who is more willing to look at the truth of the things in my life, including in myself. I don't see astrology as a system or a puzzle for figuring out things, but more as a guide toward understanding things on a deeper level. It points you in the direction you should look to see the truth, but it can't make you see truths you aren't open to. For some people, perhaps astrology sates a shallow curiosity and the need to feel an otherwise empty life - but I genuinely believe astrology can be much more. It depends on how willing you are to be open to the truths astrology can show you. IP: Logged |

I like to look at astrology as a roadmap. It tells me what to expect if I want to go somewhere particular and how I can get there.Lanny IP: Logged |

cancerrg ~ Yes, studying astrology has helped me. Liked what you wrote, Gemini Nymph! The study is great, but being able to converse with others who are studying too has increased my knowledge and self-knowledge a thousandfold! Studying astrology helps me to deal with others better in my day-to-day life, at work, at the store, wherever. It gives me insight into others so that I can make adjustments in how I deal with them. As purely an analogy, you don't speak to a kindergartener the same way you do to an adult (except when the adult is acting like a kindergartener! ) Astrology is another system of psychology, the study of why people do what they do. I'm a fan, but I don't let astrology run my life. I use my intuition and I use my brain and I use my heart, along with my "roadmap".------------------ "Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter." ~Yoda Our Own Heart, And Not Other Men's Opinion, Form Our True Honor. - Samuel Taylor Coleridge IP: Logged |

Astrology can sometimes be that proverbial nagging mother who says "you should have listened to me!"IP: Logged |

It definately helps me. And it has hindered me too. Sometimes I've been known to focus only on the bad stuff and that has gotten in my way. I think it depends on what you need the info for. It can't be a replacement for living. Living and taking risks is important too.IP: Logged |

It IS quite a delicate balance. The most important thing is to NEVER think of astrology as being prophetic in a finite way. Sometimes you'll expect someone to be a certain way because of their, say, Mercury placement, but you might get sideswiped by an emphasis on their 8th House in their Chart. We can get bits and pieces, but the only way to truly begin to understand the WHOLE person is by just being a regular person yourself. Keep an open heart. If you see something negative in someone's Chart, it doesn't mean that person is bad, but maybe, just someone dealing with difficult astrological challenges present in their Chart. You can decide to try to support and love them in life, or you can decide to hate and look the other way. There's many varying degrees in between too, but the point is, put yourself in the other's shoes. Imagine if you had 7 Planets in Virgo in the 6th House, or some craziness like that ... that person may be a total pain in the rear, but YOU would be too! IP: Logged |

For example, right now everyone is experiencing Mercury Retrograde. Knowing that and understanding the types of experiences it creates, you can handle your personal experiences and reactions to them in a calmer and more understanding way.I think that transit readings are more enlightening than natal chart readings, because natal charts indicate potential, and potential coupled with free will can result in various outcomes. Transits however indicate energies that are impacting your life, day by day. Of course, you still have free choice on how you will handle them, but the fact that they are impacting you in some way is fixed. Lanny IP: Logged |
