Hmmmm, I'll be interested in hearing this, as Saturn is also in my 5th. The moon and jupiter are in my 5th, too.

I have quite a few friends with Sat in 5th who have great children...

Sat in 5th means they take Life TOO seriously-need to loosen up at times!! This placment may dampen the natural fun and joy of the 5th...that's my vote!

PS-I have a Pisces Saturn in 5th

My hunch is lack of father, or an attraction to Father figures, a dream of being rescued.

No luck in winning the lottery?

Hard time being spontaneous?

Never satisfied with what their partner has to offer?

I have Saturn, Venus, Mars, and a Capricorn moon all in the 5th house.

My guesses would be a strict father.
A leaning to be leary of stranger's around my children.
Very protective of offspring.
Also a leaning of perfection in all i do, and unfortunately also, an expectation of other's to do thier best as well.

I was 32 when I had my first child and 40 when the youngest was born.

Could part of it be that the saturn in the 5tht house has a way of doing the things other's wish they had while they were young, rather than run out and have babies after HS graduation?

In other words, maybe we're the one's everyone is always saying to, 'I wish I'd done something with my life rather than settle down and had a family.'?

(I've had this happen more times than I can remember)

Thanks guys, very interesting and helpful. The four people I know with this placing have a feeling of "heaviness" attached to them and socially, as Gemstar said probably "need to loosen up". One woman in particular is very strict with her child, overprotective and the poor child can hardly move at times. She is also very domineering. One is a Cancer sun, one a Pisces, one a virgo and the other Sag, but despite their differing sun signs, they all seem to be quite rigid and have difficulty in enjoying life at times. How would 5th house Saturn compare with 9th house............anyone........thanks xxx

I have saturn in the fifth house where it conjuncts my leo sun along with venus and mercury........it couldn't get any worse.....and yes,,,I had a strict father...and I often have this feeling of guilt without any reason. My pisces ascendant copes with this by drinking like a fish [no pun intended].....I guess it's only jupiter in my 2nd house which is keeping me going.....[I've always had it relatively easy financially]...

As others have mentioned...strict father-a definite (and I have Sat sq Sun!). Many people/children with Sat in 5th are over-restricted 'as' children (unusally so) by their parents...also adding to the seriousness of the Sat in 5's nature.

Hopefully everyone has other aspects to lighten this tough one up...we are a bit hard on ourselves mostly and DO have high expectations of others as well...I like to think of the placement as more 'grounding' in some ways...as long as you can remember to not take life so seriously!

(Psst...it is also OK to remind us of this fact once in a while...it helps us tremendously!)

Sorry for my forever typos everyone...I type so fast.....wish there was a key to modify my posts so I can correct when I have mis-typed.

I really do know how to spell!! Ha,ha....See, the perfectionist nature of Sat in 5th rises it's head!

My Gem Sun always multi-tasks....too many things at one time...phone call, eating, typing, reading mail...all at once!

I have saturn in the 5th in cancer.... eek...

my father was REALLY strict on me growing up (he was a police officer)...I can't stress the word STRICT....it was almost unlivable but somehow I got through it.

I ten dto hold back on enjoying life "letting loose" unless I am around people I know really well. I am not married and I don'thave any children but I long to have both in my life.

I went to school....obtained an MBA...I bought a house, I live alone...lots of accomplishment except for theo ne I think matters the most love (marriage) and family (kids).

I have a leo sun, pices moon, ascendant and Jupiter. my second house is empty as is my 10, 11 and 12

I wanted to copy in a short quote from Liz Greene on Saturn in IX:
quote:
Through the medium of this house, Saturn tends to have a pronounced effect in colouring the individual's overall view of life and his capacity to find meaning in his own life. Whether we assign Saturn a psychological meaning and associate him with the shadow or "trickster" archetype of the unconscious or whether we assign him an esoteric meaning and call him Lucifer, the behavioural patterns which seem to be concurrent with Saturn in the ninth house follow the usual path of constriction, overcompensation, disillusionment and pain, searching, and eventual inner realisation and control. The kind of pain which usually accompanies this placement is loss of faith, and the search is generally for a new framework of spiritual and moral values by which the life may be given structure and meaning.

Verrrrryy interesting.
Whaddya think, sue?
