Transiting Pluto is moving closer and closer to my Mars.. when it gets there, in I'm guessing a couple of years or so it's going to be conjuncting Mars and Neptune on my DC.. trining Venus (close orb) and squaring my Sun within a large orb. As it moves through Capricorn it'll eventually conjunct my Moon and square my Sun by a closer orb.

How bad is this? I've read some scary things about Pluto transiting Mars.. What would these transits feel like? I'm mainly worried about the Mars/Pluto.. Sun/Pluto and Moon/Pluto

Pluto is a powerful planet, but often how we cope with Pluto's influencec is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Pluto is the planet of transformation, and this can be of growth, destruction and even both. From a psychological standpoint, how we cope with such power has everything to do with our attitude toward it.

Pluto demands change, and if we fear change, we set ourselves up for a conflict with Pluto. Hence why I believe that many people who dread Pluto, also dread change, and when Pluto demands change of them, the results are often negative. As result, the prophecy they held to at the beginning - that Pluto's bad, bad, bad - is fulfilled, but by their own choice. And hence why so many bad things are said of Pluto.

The changes that Pluto demands aren't always easy, even when we try to face them and accept them and thus work in cooperation with Pluto. Pluto also represents the greatest and most profound change and transformation we will ever face: death. Often Pluto demands we let go of something, sometimes something we aren't ready to give up, and this can be painful and trying. But bear in mind that death is part of a fuller cycle of transformation - from death comes new life, a new path, new opportunities, new growth. Pluto's power is like a fire that clears away the things on the surface for which their time has pass, and in the process brings the surface what is to be. Pluto governs this entire part of the cycle where fruit is born of death. So even though the initial part of the transformation may be frigthening or difficult for us, we must learn to remember that there's something greater at work than what first meets our eyes.

Another reason Pluto is dreaded is because its influence simply cannot be owned. You can own your Sun or Mars energies, within limitations, and as you mature and learn, you can work with them and channel them as you will. But not Pluto - unlike the very extroverted Sun or Mars, it's influence is too deep within our psyche, too hidden, only coming to the surface to effect great change. Pluto swims in the unseen channels of our subconscious, intertwining with the influence of Neptune and Uranus, and often digging up shadowy fears, weaknesses and anxieties that it will confront us with. We would be foolish to think that we see enough of Pluto's influence to be able to own it. And people tend to fear what they cannot control. But Pluto isn't about contrtol - it doesn't control us, but rather shows us what we would turn away from and teaches us what we must learn to grow. We have to learn to face Pluto with courage and integrity, and most importantly, with humility and acceptence.

When Pluto contacts another planet, these powers of transformation effect that area of your live in which that planet influences. Also, the nature of that planet will greatly effect the tone and force of Pluto's influence.

Aside from the Sun, contacts with Mars are the must forceful, but this isn't inherently a bad thing. Changes can be very abrupt, interrupting your life, and initially causing your distress. These changes often demand quick response and corresponding actions, and may feel like they are extremely urgent and pressing. Mars and Pluto in fact are very compatible - together they can get a lot of work done. Mars has the initative and desire that adds the juice to Pluto's power. This potentially can be very constructive, even though Pluto may make some uncomfortable demands.

It's when the two planets don't quite gel there's a problem. This can be due to aspects or house or sign placement. For example, if Mars in in an lazy placement, like Libra, Pluto may irritate Mars, or Mars is too slow to react, causing Pluto's pressure to build to stressful levels. In a nervous placement like Virgo, Pluto can cause Mars to become overwhelmed, shortcurcuit and shutdown. But these kinds of difficulties can be coped with, if you know to expect it and take action to deal with it effectively. Just remember, Mars is a planet of action, and any difficulty coping with it's energy demands action correspondingly. Likewise, Pluto is best coped with by confronting it and accepting it - fighting Pluto is not an option unless you want to be miserible.

I can't make any predication of how this transit will effect you and what changes it may bring into your life, but I suspect it'll be very sudden and unseen. But I would encourage not to color the future any one way - if you are pessismistic about this transit from the start, you will most certainly struggle and may fail to learn what it has to teach you. And if you do find yourself struggling, tend I would encourage to remember this simple formula: Mars requires courage and Pluto requires humility. In truth, a little courage and humility can get us through some very big trials.

Wow That's a lot of information. Thanks a lot. Hopefully I'll get more energy with this transit - and it wont all be so bad. maybe it'll bring good changes. I mean it said about Mars and that it depends on its placement. My Mars is in Capricorn so that's all good .. the prob is it's in the 7th so not best house placement.. But also Neptune is conjuct Mars and being ruler of another water sign.. like Pluto, I think that helps. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. I like the idea of gaining more energy and drive. I just dont like the idea of getting violently attacked by "other ppl" the 7th.. which is what one of the interps I read said. That's what scared me lol Maybe I'll pick up kickboxing or something, just to be on the safe side - and I've always wanted to do that

Anyways thx again

aries-chick -

Maybe you can call upon any Pluto/Scorpio/8th House influences you may have in your Chart.

Three years from now my Pluto is going to be entering the 11th house. And, Neptune's been sitting in the 1st for a while...Anyone care to explain what that's supposed to mean?

I can give you an excerpt from my new book Astrology, Karma, and Transformation by Stephen Arroyo

The Transits of Pluto

The function of the Plutonian energy can best be shown by looking into the meaning of Pluto's transits to important points in the natal chart....

...Pluto's transits are ordinarily concerned with the death and destruction of the old, this destruction being necessary in order to make room for the new. C.E.O. Carter writes that "all eliminative processes are Plutonian, including those advocated by what is called Nature Cure."

Advocates of the Nature Cure method of healing believe that, in order for the person to be healed, all poisons, toxins, and other impediments to the flow of the life energy must be eliminated, thus allowing the natural healing forces to rebuild (or regenerate) the body.

Carter says that a boil is a good example of Pluto's action on a small scale, since it BRINGS TO THE SURFACE that which must be eliminated.

This same Plutonian force began to be active on a larger scale at the same time Pluto was discovered, as seen in the Freudian approach to psychology (bringing to light all "repressed" psychic material) and in the rise of Nazism (bringing to the surface the unsuspected demons that lurk beneath the facade of "civilization").

Transits of Pluto have a similar influence, bringing to the surface that which is ready for elimination and destruction.

Nothing to worry about

zoso exelent book to learn from

Pluto will take away something near and dear to you that you no longer need.

With transiting Pluto conjuncting Mars you'll have self control issues, do not push the limit over issues with others, especially the ones you know you're going to lose. Revenge is a waste of time and the only true revenge is moving up in the world. With any hard transit the more you resist the longer it takes and the harder it is.

My most devastating transit was Pluto partially because it took so long. Trust me when I say this, something you think that is untakable can be taken away with Pluto. And your helpless to do anything.

Plutos lessons are all different as are people. And after the fact they truly do liberate and define.

Instead, I'll take any one of these

Give me an Uranian transit, all I can do is go crazy, refuse to speak, shave my head and change my name

Or a good hard Saturn transit, pay dues and deal with borderline depression, or money problems

Neptune is fine, I like fog, but the deception stings.

Can it also be someONE That's the one thing I couldn't deal with at all, because I've been through it a few times and if it happens again I know for a fact I couldn't deal with it, I'd flip. I wouldn't care what gets taken away as long as it's not a person..

lol @ Uranus transits.. That's true actually.. Uranus is on my Mercury/Jupiter and I'm getting massive urges to get a haircut Halle Berry style.. My hair's pretty long at the moment so it'd be a pretty big change.
