Mercury conjunct Venus

"The heaven born mind..." (Alan Leo)

Venus in conjunction or parallel with Mercury ... [makes] the mind artistic, inspirational, or ingenious. It is of course best in earth or air; in the latter it increases inspiration for music, poetry, philosophy, or whatever is indicated by sign: in Gemini it might produce a great writer or scientist. ... ... In fiery signs the mental creative sides is stimulated, but its strongest influence is in the direction of either organizing or of promoting new ideas. - C. G. M. Adam

One of the best indications of an harmonious, refined, and gentle nature, with a very polished and agreeable manner. Very favourable for artistic work. - - - good spirits, a charming, cheerful, happy nature, with much friendliness and sociability. ... In respect of the health it operates very beneficially, indicating absence of mental friction and healthy nerves. - C. E. O. Carter

Harmonious intellect. Musical, artistic, appreciative, humorous, diplomatic, amiable (easy-going, pleasure-loving); ... healthy nerves. - Ronald C. Davison

The affections are related to mental evaluations. Often such aspects give a facility in one or more of the arts... Idealism and sociability are two strong qualities of Mercury-Venus aspect. - Jane A. Evans

Venusian charm is combined with Mercury's emphasis on communication resulting, very often, in beautiful speaking voices and a good sense of balance in the use of words. The mind is composed and the nervous system calm. - Sheila Geddes

Extremely good, pleasant and amiable character, comfortable, cheerful, sociable, refined, talents for arts and music, attractiveness for young people .... This aspect is common with geniuses. - Paul v. Gerich, Finnish astrologer, lieutenant general

They desire to get on well with people and they respond to a pleasant atmosphere. ... naturally diplomatic and able to sort out differences of opinion and pour oil on troubled waters. - Karen Hamaker-Zondag

The mind ... is essentially refined and artistic. Indicates good breeding. Individual has outgrown coarseness and crudeness. - Isabel Hickey

The heaven born mind, which is artistic, refined and pure love desire. This is the only aspect or position of Mercury which leaves it absolutely free to rise into the heaven world - the Deva Kingdom. - - - [the] conjunction stands as a very real symbol of the potential activity of Buddhi or intuition. - Alan Leo

Mercury in conjunction with Venus is a very good position, refining the mental qualities and causing your mind to be sympathetic, artistic and poetical ... Possessing a good eye for colour, and loving all things beautiful, you naturally incline to painting, music, poetry or singing, everything in fact that is likely to give pleasure to yourself and others. Science is not likely to attract you, but you delight in reading... - Alan Leo

[Mercury-Venus positive aspect] very greatly improves the vibrations of Mercury making the mind soft and gentle, inclined towards the fine arts, reading and poetry. Your mind will be merry and cheerful, and more or less light-hearted and free. ... you should know how to entertain others and also how to give them pleasure. You will be disinclined to look for evil, and you will be more often sinned against than sinning. - Alan Leo

The power of this conjunction refines the mind, so that it seeks harmony and beauty in ideas as well as objects. ... They are born diplomats with the ability to settle arguments and soothe hurt feelings. - Myrna Lofthus

Mercury-Venus ... can indicate a person who enjoys communication, who may be involved in the arts, in literature, in appreciating the beauty in the world. It may also indicate a person who loves to talk! - Betty Lundsted

The conjunction of Mercury and Venus shows an affable manner and social grace. You can get along with most people because you understand the art of compromise. This doesn't mean that you always give in, but just that you try to be fair and don't offend people without a good reason. You know how to express your opinions with skill and color, and without being argumentative. You are refined in your presentations and you usually see to it that your position is well documented. - Michael McClain

Puts ideas into practical application; enjoys group efforts. ... Superior powers of observation as a critic; light humor; sense of form (fashion, design) - Henry Niemann - Judith Cooper:

This aspect is characterized by the phrase, "The charm of self-expression." If other factors in the chart coincide, it contributes to graceful oratory and general ease in the use of the written word. It denotes a sociable, affable, light-hearted, and usually optimistic person... - Alan Oken

You have a natural talent of expressing yourself well. Your imaginative style is fresh and charming and appeals to people who want to be entertained as well as informed. - Robert Pelletier

This conjunction confers grace of expression in speech and writing. The voice is often soft and has a musical quality. The aspect produces literary talent and poetic ability.... Natives possess diplomacy in communicating with others, as their actions are based on a consideration of what will produce the most beauty, balance, and harmony. ... This conjunction also can produce scientific and mathematical ability because of the talent it gives for understanding relationships. ... The natives enjoy others and are able to improve health through the beauty and balance which they generate. - Frances Sakoian & Louis S. Acker

These people seek to say things that they know will be well-received and they tend to bend over backwards in trying to be reasonable and fair in arriving at their opinions and expressing them. This in turn confers popularity. - Sue Tompkins

Venus adds a refinement, softness, and feeling to the communication ability. It emphasizes a diplomatic quality ... Through the conjunction of these two planets ... the qualities of the love-wisdom aspect of the cosmic can predominate in the native's life. ... ... This person can be a good student, one who enjoys school life, for the ability to express what has been learned also brings personal satisfaction and pleasure. ... The discrimination evidenced by this conjunction will concern the balance between idealistic, romantic ideas in life and practical, down-to-earth reality. Here is the true balance between the physical and the spiritual realms. - Donald Y. Yott

... hmmm well, yes and, no. I have Venus conjunct a retro Merc in Taurus but then, they are both conjunct my Gemi Sun. I think that my Sun and that retro action, of Mercury, plus the placement of all of them opposite my Scorpio Asc, puts a whole different spin on most of those interpretations.... at least, in my case.

Mercury 27 deg 31 Gemini conjunct Venus 00 deg 29 Cancer - a dissociate conjunction - both planets in 5th house.

I don't agree with the "calm nerves" that are mentioned many times. My nerves are far from calm

Thinking before I speak and speaking sensitively apply. I don't like hurting people with words. Seeing both sides comes naturally as does having a voice that sounds bubbly and sing-songy. lol. I love singing too and creative writing is one of my favourite hobbies.

I have Mercury in Virgo, and Venus in Libra, just a few degrees apart. I'm into art/making music, but some of those definitions seem a bit much...Of course, a lot of astrologers are known for blowing things out of proportion

Thanks for posting that Sun Child

I have Mercury and Venus conjuct in *Virgo*!

This is the first time I'm happy to say my Venus is in Virgo. I do think I have a talent for creating beautiful and harmonious environments ( I love decorating with a passion). My voice is very soft and I do have a nack for being diplomatic My nerves however are not calm, at least in new social situations...if it weren't for them, I would be much more outgoing, but I am amiable in general.

Hi LSW!
Another Leo here with Venus in Virgo! Wow, I bet we have a lot in common!
I've always been diplomatic in nature, rarely firey and quick to accuse and as I've grown up I find this aspect helps me reflect and think before taking actions.

Mine are conjunct in Pisces.
And yes to most of it especially to what I quoted here.

Its funny because I havent really studied this one in depth. And as an actor I am always told that I have a very expressive and pleasant voice. A "strong instruemnt" they say.

I do have a way with words, and I do like to express myself in a way that is pleasant and agreeable to others.
I hardly ever have disagreements with people or conflicts, unless they mistake this placement for weakness.
They are conjunct in my 7th house...and in love you will not find a more refined partner than I am...its just how it goes...I am able to love in all 5 languages my compassion, empathy and patience know no boundaries when I am in love with you......and my relationships are always a thing of beauty. If I had learned that the beauty came from me...I would have been more selective about who I tossed the pearls to. *sigh*
Live and learn I guess.

Thank you for this thread SunChild...its funny all those things we think we are "born with" huh?
This post for me is prime example of why my Moon and Neptune conjunction in Sag opposes my Destinn/Karma Asteroids...it seems to ring true that I am destined to learn about the continuity of my own existence through occult studies...
Lesson #1
Take none of your talents for granted.

A lot of what's said fits me.. but not all... I'm can be pretty shy, especially when I'm with new people and even more so when I have to make an announcement in front of everyone. But everything else seems pretty good, beautiful voice, beautiful handwriting, good artistic eye, likes poetry, art, music, singing, ♥ convivial atmospheres, kids love me (though I didn't know this aspects might be somewhat influencing that..), but I have to disagree with the loving to talk, I usually have few words to say, especially if I don't know the person well. (Merc rx conj Venus, both conj Saturn)

Hi there,
yes, I have Merc conjunct Venus in Aquarius. Much of the above applies to me, keen interest in arts and music, talent for public speaking, personal charms, good singing voice and apparantly an unusual speaking voice - it sometimes happens that I raise my voice and a whole room goes silent...
This constellation is square my taurus rising though so it is a bit dependant on my general condition on that particular day...sometimes I like to keep myself to myself and then I notice that people shy away from me, especially men. I've learned to live with it.

When I was younger, I wrote songs and it looked like I was gonna have a career in music for a while. But then that fell through and somehow I landed in communication instead. These days I develop internet and software products based on social media for the health industry. That's a very aquarian thing, I guess, and it also allows me to be creative.

So that constellation is very present in my life.

I have Mercury conjunct Venus in Libra in the 6th house which is Virgo-I always thought it was Libra because most of the house falls in it looking at my chart but I recently checked it out and I don't have a Libra house, it goes from Virgo to Scorpio. I don't have an Aries house either. And both my 3rd and 4th house are Cancer. My 9th and 10th are Capricorn. I don't know how that works but anyway, I digress.

In real life I am charming without really trying and when I want to be charming watch out Most of my social interactions are done at work. When I'm not working-either days off or the unfortunate times I've just been without a job-I keep pretty much to myself. I have Pisces moon in the 12th and that is reflected during my down time. I don't really want people around or to be social when I don't have to be. This is in general but sometimes I do just feel like schmoozing outside of work. It depends but I don't like being on all the time.

I do not have a great singing voice. Hell, I don't have a good singing voice. It's flat but my speaking voice is very melodious and pleasing to the ear and I can manipulate my speaking voice in a variety of ways. I've thought about being a DJ or doing voice over work but I don't know, just never really pursued it.

Now, I'm just going to scroll through the little paragraphs and comment on them.

Outside of being charming I do have a nice personality, a healthy mindset and body. I am very blessed in those areas and don't take it for granted. I don't let petty things get me all riled up and sometimes even the big things don't get me too wound up. I just focus on what needs to be done to accomplish the best outcome possible. Not that I never loose my cool and composure, I do and it's not pretty when it happens, but for the most part like I said, I just do what needs to be done to get through, my goal always being making things better than before whatever unpleasantness happened.

I don't know if I'd say I'm a genius-lol but I do have a few areas that I excell in. My people skills are right up there, some of it is self learned through trial and error. Knowing when to speak and what to say and when to just listen is truly an art form. But I also have a natural abilitly to "get" people.

I am intuitive, I don't much care for science and I started reading novels when I was 4 years old.

I don't care for poetry. Maybe because so much of it that I've read, which to be fair is not a lot, I've found to be tedious and boring.

I do enjoy entertaining people. I like to make them laugh and feel good. You put a camera in front of me or put me on a stage and I'm right at home. That's when I feel the most authentic. Mars Leo in the 5th probably helps that along a bit too.

I don't look for 'evil' but I don't wear rose colored glasses either. I pretty much know the score, I just work around it

Very rarely do I got out of my way to cause any one to feel badly but I've done it and well, there isn't much I undertake that I do half way. But for the most part I just do my thing and when people choose to take that as sign to eff with me, they find out my good nature does not come from stupidity or weakness. I don't rant and I don't rave, I don't make threats. As I said above, I just do what needs to be done and I do it intelligently, in a way that will have the best chance of benefiting everyone when all the smoke has cleared.

I'm quoting this one because it pretty much hits the nail on the head. "The conjunction of Mercury and Venus shows an affable manner and social grace. - Michael McClain"

I have a way with words and know how to use them well. When I'm posting I'm not very meticulous but when I am writing to write I know how to work it just the way I want it. I also have a natural instinct for what sounds right. Rules of grammar be damned-haha.

Okay, I've saved the beauty thing for last because it's hard to explain. I do appreciate all the time, work and effort that goes into what would be best defined as classically beautiful but if it envokes any emotion in me at all, it's sadness because I just can't see the joy in the creation. All I see is the painstaking hours of work it must have taken. That doesn't mean the person who created it didn't feel joy while doing it, that feeling just doens't transfer to me when I see something you have to go over and over again with a magnifine glass to see any flaws. That's not to say half assed work does it for me either. There's a difference between rushed, sloppy, unskilled work and work that is full of enthusiasm and passion coupled along with skill.

When it comes to people, I like faces that have character and an inner light that shines through. Like Steve Buscemi. I like his face. It's loaded with character but he doesn't give off scary vibes, if you know what I mean. He may be an ass, I don't know, but I don't get that looking at him. I also like Johnny Depp's look. I didn't when he was younger because he was too pretty. But I like him now because he doesn't try too hard or take it too seriously. He was born with what he was born with seems to be his attitude and it makes him very interesting to look at. Basically I put Steve and Johnny on the same level. They are equally beautiful to me but maybe for different reasons.

Where as Leonardo Di Caprio is as interesting to me as Charles Manson. Not at all. Again for different reasons but I wouldn't call either one beautiful.

After all the explanation I guess it just boils down to I like what's real. But I don't know because good old Charlie is genuine in his madness. Maybe it just can't be defined. That's probably it.

There you go, probably more than anyone wanted to know about me
