Hi there, I'm new to this site and would really appreciate people's help with my question.
I recently became interested in learning more about the asteroid 'Eros' in astrology. What I'm still confused about - if a person's eros contacts another person's personal planets (for instance eros opposing venus), who is feeling the attraction? The eros person or the planet person, or both???? Many thanks in advance,Sandra

hello.. and welcome!

I imagine that for the Eros person it would be a matter of how the other person's various characteristics affect their erotic nature and for perosn #2 it would be about how person #1's erotic nature affects their various characteristics. For example: person #1's Eros in Pisces conjunct person #2's moon in Pisces.
The Eros person would find that the Moon person's transcendal and intuitive emotional nature appeals to them erotically and that the Moon person can tune into their erotic needs very magically. The Moon person might feel that the Eros person's erotic nature appeals to their emotional side. In this case I can imagine the Moon person would feel the connection more only because it would be affecting them on more levels- Eros being quite specific to the erotic aspect of our psyche. (lol... I just confused myself with the psyche thing.. ok.. um.. "consciousness"). In any case, I imagine the physical side of this connection would be quite magnificent for both parties, even a spiritual experience...
I've also read about Psyche-Eros conjunctions as being a sure sign of soulmates, but you are asking about planets and Eros.

here's a little thing on Eros I found on another astrology forum: Eros in Synastry Aspect to Eros

The rapid sequence of the two events is what Eros considers worthy of note.
--Horace Howard Furness Jr.

Eros contacts to each other in synastry comparisons highlight themes of erotic attraction, desires for intimacy, potent love, sexual union and creative passion. Having Eros closely aspected by synastry does not guarantee an intimate or creative union with the other person, although it does suggest that desires for intimacy and creativity awaken through contact with each other.

Eros to Eros contacts are often felt right away. People with these aspects will feel an instant stimulation as if something deep inside them dazzles. This may come as a wonderful and healing experience to someone with a dormant erotic nature or for one who is defensive and protective when it comes to inner passions. Eros gets in through most shields before anyone knows what hit them.

However, this connection does not always result in or resemble a sexual passion. It can occur as a creative desire that ignites between the couple and marks the beginning of an artistic association. It can also be experienced as an unrequited love that sustains an otherwise lonely writer or artist through the indefinite emotions of the creative project. People with this contact do not have to meet. They simply have to know that the other person exists.

When they do meet and the nature of the contact is sexual intimacy, the powerful forces at work tend to focus on a profound level of merging. The couple may not have a durable relationship with each other but they are likely to have one that neither will ever forget. Eros brings people together more for purpose than pleasure and the purpose here is to transform. Few entering this liaison will walk away unchanged.

Eros contacts to Eros in themselves make little comment either way on the duration of the relationship. They indicate more a sense of recognition by one or both people involved and also quite possibly a compulsion. The desire nature of Eros can be more than overwhelming, especially with the conjunctions and oppositions. Those with this contact may find themselves doing and saying things that previously had no place in their repertoire. Risks are taken, bank accounts purged, long-term relationships abandoned and rules utterly broken.

Eros does not care for the socially correct attitudes, the hard earned objectives and the long-term commitments. Eros cares for union, merging and the power of love to transform. If it takes a day, a week or a decade, no matter, Eros in contact to Eros almost always has its way.

Eros in Pisces if I did mine right:
http://ephemeral.info/oldeph/?number=00433&inputNumber=eros&day=26&month=12&year=1972&time=14%3A34%3A00&zone=PST+-8&interval_num=1&interval=day&longitude=on&ra=on&display=screen&em ailAddr=&lines=31&.submit=Get+Ephemeris

I've never looked into this, and it would be the first thing I have in Pisces. Kinda cool.

hey AcousticGod,
I just read about they mythology of Eros from whiterabbit's link. Knowing the mythology always helps me understand.
Near the end of the article it says that Eros & his mom Aphrodite aka Venus turned themselves into fishes to swim away from a monster and they are the fishes in Pisces!
So it seems to be very appropriate & cool to have your Eros in Pisces.
I think mine is in Taurus close to my moon if I did it right, not sure if I did it right, though, lol.

hey, I don't know how people have been calculating their Eros placement- but in case you didn't know, you can do it on astro.com- go to extended chart selection and there's a little space where you can type in any asteroid number and it will show up on your chart- I believe Eros is 433.

Go to astro.com, Extended charts. In the box at the bottom left of the chart selection page you can enter the Asteroid number of Eros (433) and it will display in your charts.

Thanks Azal

Eros in Virgo. ( in )Earthiness and intellectuality combine in Eros in Virgo. These lovers are sensual, especially when they are not thinking too much. Because of the tendency for Virgo to think and analyze, however, there can be a tendency to be one's own voyeur during sex. Vicarious enjoyment of sex is often highlighted with this placement. A meeting of minds is important to Eros in Virgo. These are somewhat moody lovers who may have distinct phases between promiscuity and celibacy. Virgo is very connected with--and aware of--the body and its functioning, and Eros in Virgo often seeks renewal through sex, with an attitude that sex is healthy and good for you. These are generally sensitive and tender lovers who do a lot to please their partners. Some awkwardness and shyness in terms of letting themselves go is often characteristic of this position. Virgo's symbol is the Virgin. This should not be taken literally, although when Virgo is connected to the sexual nature, there is a sense of purity and independence. These lovers can be promiscuous at times, and quite kinky, but emerge from their experiences with a sense of purity nevertheless.

My caps :/

Eros in Aquarius. ( in )These lovers are intrigued by the unusual, finding variety exciting. The detachment of Aquarius can mean finding sensuality in non-contact scenarios in addition to contact ones. Sexual creativity is one of the strengths of this position. Their open minds with regards to sex can stimulate creativity in their partner.

Damn whats with all the f(%@in aquarus in his chart.

What a curse. Sheesh.

i have my venus, mars and jupiter oppose someone's eros and i feel it, but so does he.

his eros also conjuncts my ic and sextiles my venus, both at 0 degrees.

i'm just not sure if that is what contributes to the attraction, since we have 4H overlays anyway and some other placements as well. i never take asteroids as important but sometimes i notice something and i'm like -oh-
