It's notable to me that Capricorns think a lot of things very weird - whilst often being somewhat odd themselves! Say, you say you do x, y hobbies - they'll give you a LOOK. Or say: "You're weird!" Or both.

It's interesting to me to notice Scorpio-Capricorn relationships because Scorpio likes to go off the beaten track, Capricorn wants to stay on it. I'm afraid that Caps don't realize what a wet-blanket effect they have on others when said others are enthusiastically (passionately) discussing their plans for the future, and they say: "You're weird!" or: "Well! If you like that sort of thing!" or: "I don't know how you make any money out of it." Or they try to tell you what to do; you have to be strong to fight back.

Just curious as to why they do this; I feel this sort of behaviour most strongly in Capricorn Suns/Venus - particularly Aqua with Cap Venus. There is pride in being as traditional as possible and a certain cynicism, particularly directed towards the arts. (Some might call this a BS detector... )

(Disclaimer: I don't refer to ALL Capricorns here, just a few I have known, and you certainly don't sound like it, AcousticGod!)

I am sure Acoustic isnt like that at all, as you said Aries, but OMG I have a Cappy mother, and talk about taking the wind out of your sails. I being very enthusiastic would tell her something and wait for the shared excitement and shed retort "oh thats nice for you", and even worse she would laugh. When I told that I was learning the fiddle at age 45 she said "oh I cant imagine you doing that" and then she would laugh. If you saw me, you would probably say I was perfectly suited to playing the fiddle, but not mammy!!!! I always felt deflated after talking to her, and still do a little. Isnt it something to do with the sign being ruled by Saturn, so I suppose in effect emotions would be restricted somewhat. When I told her I sang in the pub, she said "oh I didnt know you could sing".DIDNT KNOW, well she never asked!!! Then to add insult she said "I used to sing in the pub when I was younger - aaaarrrrghhh. I love my mammy very much, shes wise, calm, stable, nurtuting, but lets put it this way lads, she was at the back of the queue when they gave out enthusiasm - I am so glad I inherited my Dad's Aries passion. Can anyone add to this, I am interested to know why this is?? Love and enthusiasm to all xxxxxx

Hi Hi Hi

Ok..like I said elsewhere I'm a weird one. I can be inspirational to people HOWEVER I think because i actually care about them, I don't want them to get hurt and I feel as though they should be more realistic and expect both outcomes.. good and bad instead of getting all happy and excited about the good..and then if it doesn't turn out, it'd dampen their enthusiasm.. I can't get completely excited about the prospect of something, before I've actually done it.. like untill it's set in stone.. because i feel like I'm jinxing it.. I'd actually rather set myself up for worst case scenario and be pleasantly surprised than do the opposite and get hurt by it..

But being an Aries, I like motivating people.. only not when being TOO positive is just not realistic..

God, I know what you mean, Sue, they DO laugh whenever people get enthusiastic, I was going to put that in, but forgot. I read what you said in an earlier thread abt. Capricorn parents believing they shouldn't be their children's friends - ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON.

Unfortunately, the words "Saturn" & "patronizing" are loosely related Do you think it's a self-protection mechanism? Do they have control issues? Do they feel safer where limits are set?
Good that your Dad was an Aries, Sue, Aries understands the concept of "the sky's the limit" better!!!

I'm hungry - gonna make prawn stir-fry and blueberry muffins now!!

Well, blueberry muffins are DONE. Anyone want one? The blueberries have exploded in the oven, filling the cracks in the dough - Yum!

I'm gonna eat a couple NOW, with a generous helping of yoghurt.

BS detector is Venus squaring/opposing Neptune, check for that.

I can detect BS a mile away. - Venus opposite Neptune.

I'm a Cappy rising and I'm weird. I rarely accuse others of being weird though..... I kinda like that. So, maybe it's just a Cappy Sun thing. I do know what you mean in a way.....

Venus (Pisces) square Neptune (Sag) here. Yeah, I guess I can detect BS pretty well - just hope I don't create too much of it myself...LOL.

And so could my BullSun.

Being able to read the bullsh*tter as they BSing you, has come in handy for me a few times.

Caps don't understand the ways of non-Caps. We do tend toward the ultra-conservative. Linda compared us to the turtle racing the hare.

I was going to be sensitive about the first post's mention of the arts, because I love the arts.

Between a Cap and an Aries I think you get the opposite extremes of how to go about initiating things. Aries are said to have a tendency to plunge right in, almost as soon as the thought reaches their mind. Capricorns on the other hand gets an idea, thinks about it, talks it over, deliberates on the safest most practical route, figures out whether or not it's worth the energy, and then MIGHT start working on it.

I think our ultra-conservatism keeps us from believing in or having faith in the methods of others. What can I say other than, "Don't let us bother you when making your plans." Also, asking our opinion can be a really bad idea as we have a tendency of giving an honest reply.

We're just strange that way I guess.

I have a cappy boss who laughs at me all the time, but not cause he thinks i am weird he says he thinks i am funny. I guess i tend to say oddball cookie things at times(aquarius rising no doubt the culprit. But he doesn't berate me or make me feel bad when he laughs at me. Actually i like the fact that i make him laugh. But seriously i know a lot of cappy's and they can be a wet blanket sometimes.

But they really don't mean any harm when they are they just are very serious people, they have a hard time relating to people who are more carefree or aggresive.

As an Aries sun, moon, mars, Cap rising - married to a Cap sun - I must chime in and say yes, yes, yes. Is this ever true!! I get an idea and I start right in, working on it. Because of my Cap rising, I can't quit until the work is completed. My husband, on the other hand, takes forever coming up with THE PLAN. By the time he his weighed every angle and detail, I could have done the project (15) times over.

Yet, we own a small manufacturing company together and it has become very successful. All of my aries lands in his 10th house. I am consumed with responding to customers on time, to getting quotations and shipments out on time - and with ordering parts on time. My husband waits and waits and thinks about things before responding. Lots of opportunities could be lost while he is spending time hashing out the different outcomes. By the way, he is a brilliant man and there would be no company without him. He designs the products we sell.

Quess I am trying to say that a Cap/Aries relationship can be terrific - kind of filling the holes in the other person. I don't think our company would be as successful if we were not both involved. This is true of our personal relationship as well. We admire in each other the qualities that we separately lack. We have a more complete life because of each other -and we have grown as individuals because of each other.

Cap/Aries = a great combination

I can only speak for myself, of course. Being a capricorn, I am very open to all kinds of ways of doing things. I think that is one of the greatest, most necessary aspects of life here on earth. The main time that I will say anything about someone's method that is clearly not working is when I am asked, or if it harms me. It could be my pisces ascendant that softens that capricorn sun, but I appreciate "wierd"! I think people should have fun and do things however they need to do them.

Key~ Good to hear from you!
I love that you have a relationship where you can work together on a common goal, and love each other despite and because of your differences!

Great perspective!

My man is an Aries with a Capricorn Moon.
He is impulsive, but he makes 'lists'.
Loves the lists!
