i disagree. these types of posts are popularity contests and as you can see, serves no other purpose than to breed contempt. leoelf, i do not think you meant well actually. your instinct told you not to post such a topic because you knew it could upset people..but you did so anyway. you seem like an attention-seeker. and look, you got it!! Yes, yes, yes pixie... I see your point.People get angry when someone expresses an opinion counter to their own. I am blunt, but at least I am not evil and calling people a b*tch..etc.... I think that what you did, by just playing it off into a "signage" game was smart.. and diffused the situation into becoming one of "who gets picked to me on the special team". Again.. some of us have been here for a long time and we instinctively know where the thread is headed. People who aren't of thicker skin and DON'T get named start to feel offended and then threaten to leave. So, those of us that are protective of EVERYONE say things like "This is my favorite sign: Don't Enter...etc." or "Yeah, I understand how this can be seen as Jr. High" ends up getting people angry that pick people to be on their team... yet HAVE you thought of those sensitive knowflakes that may NEVER be mentioned? They are the ones that hardly ever post, or may end up thinking their posts have never made an impact and therefore they are NOT important? Then they wonder if they should ever post at all. Nope..... I'll bet ALOT of people didn't see it that way. So, the people (like all 3 of you) that jumped on our rear ends.... hey we are entitled to say what we want AND we do think about those knowflakes that may never be mentioned and may feel like the ones were the last kid standing when picking for teams... Yet, I can bet ALL of us that people just got angry with WOULD have been on this list and had always been picked first.. LOL.. if not, we were the Captains. SO... to those knowflakes that AREN'T NAMED... you are JUST AS IMPORTANT as those that are named. ALL contributions mean something so don't think you are not as good as anyone else because you didn't make it on someone's most favorite list. IP: Logged |

Pidaua, I said something a little similar to what you said just now.
I am offended by the fact that someone here would have enough nerve to say that I purposely posted this in the hope that something negative may arise, you and alot of people here know that I am not like that whatsoever.
I love so many people here, but like I said before, there is always the one person (atleast for me)that you feel that special connection with.
I said TP because not only are we from the same place, we have similar backrounds and childhoods and when I chat with her, I can be me, the crazy, moody, weird me, and she accepts it and understands.
Sometimes it's nice for a person to know how special they are to other people.
I felt that this thread would become a beautiful thing where people would see how important they are to someone else.
I didn't expect to be chosen, nor did I care. It makes me happy to see people make others happy.
But, people got confused here, began calling my thread moronic without even trying to understand where I was coming from.IP: Logged |

I understand that it is a special thing to call people special.
I love naming people I love.MY problem with doing that,is, inevitably, it will come out wrong, or I will offend.... or after thinking it over, i'd have to name someone else as well.. or that as soon as the next person posts, I'd be like.. "Hey! That person too, I forgot.." etc, then it would seem trite.
And inevitably, again, I'd say something stupid ( It is my day for that, like wholly!!!) so as not to exclude anyone, I'd rather not include anyone.. or rather, I would like to include everyone.
But even some people I don't necessarily get on with, I can respect and see their point sometimes.
I am talking out of my Libra Mercury in the third house here. But see.. I am really glad you have connected.
I am happy that you wanted to start an "I Love ______" thread.

It feels good. And Pid.... Yes, good post! ( I did that a long time ago, by the way, I posted an "Who do the knowflakes remind you of?" thread.. I meant that since I came here, way back then, I found that some reminded me of the vibe I get around certain people I adore in my immediate life, or of characters, etc.. It was in the nature of love and sharing, but it was perceived a tad puzzled... So anyway, I get it... but when I joke .. it is not at the expense of your thread, it is to spare seriousness, for those who would take it as exclusion.... and to inject some silly.. Leoelf - i understand where you are coming from on this, er, where you wanted this to go. But you did question yourself as you were writting this, which is obvious by your opening line, so really i dont see why your surpised that people didnt want to be involved. I don't understand what went wrong here, truly. You people didn't even give the damned thread a chance. You attacked it, along with me, some of you for no reason at all.
If you didn't agree with it, why not just ignore it? Why go out of your way to say something so negative?

I don't know Lovely from a hole in the wall, and she is telling me my "true" intentions of creating this thread.
It was only a friendly way in saying to me f*** you b****. So, yeah TP's way in doing it wasn't exactly great, but what's right is right and when she said this woman started crap with me for no reason, she was absolutely right, and it feels damned good that someone else noticed and took the time out to point that out. As I said in a previous post, I'm more sensitive, stressed, and sleep deprived than usual, so maybe I am being irrational, but I doubt it.

Leoelf - Your very first sentance was "is this bad to do? would people get too sensitive?" ... i replied to that part of the post by agreeing that they would. So yeah, i guess that is defending the unoffended. But it was merely a reply to your question. i meant nothing bad by it. TP -

and sometimes they all mneet up and agree and sometimes they share beers
but not everyone likes beer
so we all chat about sometimes important stuff
and some of us just want to get along, like little dawggies
and some of us have potty mouths
but we still like to chat and still love our friends
even if they explode
