My "BIG 3".....

~SUN(Taurus 26*)
Auriga - Capricorn Decanate of Taurus
Auriga drives a chariot and holds a baby goat in his other arm, representing control and protection of the weak. The story of Phaethon's ill-fated chariot trip with the sun indicates the dangers of losing control over one's life. This Capricorn decanate of Taurus ruled by Saturn is concerned with attaining skills and managing resources. One may be in positions of authority and responsibility that can be used for healing and great benefit to those in need. The keyword is MASTERSHIP

~MOON(SCORPIO 11*)
Ara - Pisces Decanate of Scorpio
Ara is the altar upon which is placed what is sacrificed to a higher purpose. This Pisces decanate of Scorpio ruled by Neptune tends to turn from the animalistic drives to loftier purposes and endeavors. Moving from selfish gratification to devotion to others one may explore the spiritual heights like the eagle. Mental and spiritual pleasures often yield greater fulfillment than physical pleasures. The keyword is RESPONSIBILITY.

ASC.(GEMINI 18*)
Canis Minor - Cancer Decanate of Cancer
Canis Minor, the little dog, represents a creature who is susceptible to the influences of others. This double Cancer decanate ruled by the moon can be quite emotional and family oriented. Feelings are strong and sensitive and can express through poetic and dramatic arts. One tends to take the shape of the environment and needs to be careful about negative influences though one can also be a positive channel for Spirit. The keyword is MOODS.

The description for my ASC fits perfectly...I KNOW I'm moody and tend to be overly-sensitive!!I try not to be,but I also have an intense Scorpio Moon which only makes matters worse.I'm just a ball of emotion.However....even when I'm in a dark mood,I feel I can channel it into writing or song. And I always try to lift people up/heal them when they are down. The MOON description resonates w/ me as well.I'm always studying spiritual things & searching for the truth.

vedic astrology has deep emphasis on lunar constellations. in fact the name of a child is based on the sound corresponding to the constellation. actually the star that rules the birth constellation corresponds to the frequency of the incarnated personality. however our calculations are based on sidereal posiitons which makes sense because the stars are stationary, they r not in motion like planets and also affected more so by the movement of the solstices. how the heck our astrologers figured that out 3000 yrs ago , no idea. so i have tropical sun at 0 cancer and according to tropical the constellation is canis minor. soory dont describe me. but the sidereal is spot on. actually our interpretation of constellations is based on indian myths. each star has its own mythological figurehead like chiron, nessus etc.

for eg.
my case

===================================

Ardra, "the moist one" 6.40 to 20.00 Gemini
Symbol teardrop, diamond, a human head
Deity Rudra the storm god, "the howler" and god of destruction, another form of Shiva.
Stars Betelgeuse is situated on the shoulder of Orion. A star of power, it gives an active mind, with ups and downs in career, and marital wealth and honors.
Mythology Rudra the destroyer is a form of Shiva who brought down Prajapati (Orion) to save Rohini from the sexual violation of the daughter. This destroyed the unity of the cosmos.
Indications There is sadness as the symbol of the teardrop suggests. There is a very destructive quality here, but the destruction is necessary to save grace for the future. They create destruction and havoc wherever they go, sometimes even destroying themselves. This is the place of the dark night of the soul, for there is a new dawn or new beginning after the seeming tragedy. After the worse storms comes the beautiful sunny day, for the following nakshatra (Purnarvasu) means "return of the light." The rain the storm clouds produce brings growth and fertileness. These individuals are good at creating things out of destruction. They like to renovate old discarded things. This can refer to fixing up old houses or cars. They do have a lust for power and material things, and can appear cold and calculating. Their violent temperament causes many tears and depression, which can lead to their early destruction and death. They need to develop a sense of gratitude and appreciation for this will heal many wounds. Their real satisfaction comes as they overcome their hardships, and the truth and realization that comes through their suffering.

=======================================
the descriptipn fits me to a T. actually Rudra as a deity is plutonian.i always wondered where the heck did all my plutonian influences come from.rudra is the destructive form of Shiva.Destruction and Resurrection are described as the key to those born under this constellation. been so TRUE.

here r links for u guys to get ur vedic constellations

? I had studied it for 2 years until i landed on LL.i spoke to a liberal vedic astrologer and discussed about the work i had done, what i had learnt and some of ur ideas.he was doubtful about asteroids but not about tropical positions.he actually does consider them, he is not fatalistic however, or like those self-righteous Indian astrologers. He said the reason for sidereal corrections of planetary positions is that in essence our philosophy recognises that an individual is so much more than his present incarnate personality. He stressed that the lunar mansions have a completely differnt base, the current breed of professionals dont go into the depths of nakshatras and restrict themselves to predictions, doshas, upayas and pujas.thats the downfall.he said, as i have learnt from Tantra that every individual is the microcosm of the universe, we have a lunar constellations group in our energy body.we take 21600 breaths every 24 hours, thats one precession of the equinox, how then can u not think ayanmasa corrections in tropical positions based on the same into account ?Like was said in that e-book i gave u indian astrology is space based. IQ showed in thread how Carl Tobey's theories are more accurate. In vedic horoscope too the first house is governed by LEO, second by Cancer and so forth.i tried studying the nakshatras when he said all these things and behold where the sidereal paled in front of the tropical is where they proved correct.certainly i am cancerian sun n moon n being gemini in sidereal i have nothing geminian.i was a dormant plutonian , though all i have is a loose sun-pluto trine, venus quincunx pluto and pluto in the eighth. And our vedic astrology does not consider pluto at all.also significant to me, Draco pluto conjunct True node. I know people, loads of them around me who have not changed in their entire lives as much as i changed in the past 2 or 3 years. He gave me a book by Dennis Harness and David Frawley on Nakshatras - Lunar Constellations in Indian Astrology .Each one has a deity, a sound, a quality as in sattvic, tamasic or rajasic.each has a specific life path like moksha, kama, arth . Each nakshatra has its own MYTH. Too long to go into here, each planet is analysed in regard to the dwad, decan, nakshatra it falls in not just the sign. When i analysed my sidereal chart in this way , excluding Uranus, Neptune and Pluto ,it perfectly aligned with the tropical. Sun n moon in Ardra , myth – Rudra, path – kama, quality, all the three. The issues emphasized are death, pain suffering , deep passion an thinking, and above all a double edged gift of power that can oscillate between extremes. Now that is not Gemini OJ and Nicole had their Venuses conjunct in Ardra !! . The myth of Ardra is that of Taraka who abused the power achieved by penance and power which led to his downfall, now that’s Plutonian. Another example Venus quincunx Pluto and Neptune. Sidereal Venus in Krittika, mansion composed of six of the brightest stars of Pleides, in Hindu Mythology they r the wives of great seers, in Greek the six are Maia, Electra, Alycone, Celano, Asterope, Taygate. Krittika represents Agni, the sacred dfire that purifies. It brings out the divinity of the native but not without burning him in the fire of purification. Enough said, Venus and Valentine and Chiron in Krittika have been PURIFIED.
It is the same with the whole chart. The way I see it, the sidereal positions represent a view of space not planets, it is transcendent not in terms of time like the tropical since time is an Illusion, there is no time in space. The Past ,Present and Future are happening simultaneously. We choose a time period to incarnate so as to have a human experience and the PERSONALITY chosen that can best achieve the goal that is Tropical Astrology. Sidereal makes correction for the illusion of time , the time cycles and shows the incarnate Divinity behind the human experience, that the God- Mind intends , at least that is my insight. And where does Draconic fit in? I think of Rahu/North node as the star gate to incarnate into the physical plane, indicator of Mind pattern the intersection of the elliptical planes of the Earth and Moon. From what I have learnt thru a detailed study of the Shri Yantra , all that is materially manifested , the entire universe is made of a permutation n combination of Sun, Moon and Fire. In Vedic astro Sun is Soul, Moon is Mind . When the paths of earth and moon intersect , time and mind clash is where we calculate Rahu/ North Node and Ketu/ South Node. Thus Rahu is where we intend to go evolutionally and Ketu is where we come from. All our soul contracts are made on this basis, we attract souls known and unknown based on our Draco. I cannot get over my Dr. Sun conjunct Dad’s Draco Karma , his Draco Saturn and Mom’s Draco Valentine conjunct my Tr. Asc. , that one had me stunned for days. Sun representing soul, thus heliocentric astrology represents our soul, transcendent, timeless, divinity having a human experience……..

In the Vedic (Hindu) system of Astrology, known in Sanskrit as Jyotish, the 27 constellations and not the 12 star-signs are the key to understanding celestial influences on our planet. These 27 constellations are known as the 27 Nakshatras, which are 300 to 400 light years away from earth. Based on a person's moon Nakshatra at the time of birth, Jyotish offers a most powerful predictive technique compared to other forms of astrology.

The term "Nakshatra," when broken down into its constituent parts: "naks" meaning "sky" and "shetra" meaning "region", translate into "Sky Map." Another translation is arrived at using a different dissection: "naksha" is "map" and "tara" is "star" and so Nakshatra is "Star Map." Both meanings clearly show that in the eyes of the ancient Vedic (Indian) seers the 27 Nakshatras (constellations) and not the 12 zodiacal star-signs map the sky.

It was the Moon that ancient people first looked to for calculating time and connecting to the stars. 'Nakshatras' is the name given to the constellations or mansions of the Moon, as the Moon resides in each of these constellations for one day.

The system of constellations is very ancient, dating back more than 5,000 years as they were referred to in the oldest Veda (Hindu's scripture). These lunar mansions appear in Chinese and Arabic astrology but have not received much attention in Western or European astrology. Each of the 27 Nakshatras consists of 13º and 20 minutes of the zodiac. Multiplying this length by 27 equals the entire zodiacal belt of 360 degrees.

The Nakshatras are classified in various ways, according to basic attribute, primary motivation (Kama - sensual desires; Artha - material desires; Dharma - living life based on spiritual principles; Moksha - liberation from birth and death), sex, caste, species and so on. They are particularly revealed by their presiding deities, ruling planets and their symbolic form.

The Nakshatra and the signs of the zodiac both begin from the same point. The beginning of the first Nakshatra, or constellation of Ashwini, the first Nakshatra, is the same as that of the first sign of Aries. Each sign contains the combined influence of the Nakshatras falling with it. Compared to the signs, the Nakshatra or Nakshatras possess a deeper effect. The signs are merely "a heap, mass, or collection" of influences as their Sanskrit name suggests.

The planets are the cosmic creative powers. Each planet radiates certain specialized forces. The planets make their impact on the zodiacal field. This specialized circle divided by the signs and Nakshatras is the negative or passive field of influences, while the planets are the positive or active fields. The signs and Nakshatras create the necessary environment, while the planets are the precipitating forces.

Prakriti (the female creative impulse) is the force that sustains the general background of the zodiac. Prakriti produces the basic conditions on which the seeds sprinkled by Purusha (the male consciousness factor) fructify and grow. The Nakshatras and signs of the zodiac are the passive creative potency whereas the planets are the creative or generating forces. The planets are active causes whereas the signs and Nakshatras are the material layer of the action. The Nakshatras and signs constitute the horizontal arm, while the planets represent the vertical arm in the cross of cosmic creation.

In Vedic astrology, the personality traits are read more through the birth star (Nakshatra of the Moon) than by the Sun sign. Nakshatra positions of planets are examined in the birth chart as well. The use of Nakshatra is very important in Vedic astrology, much more than with zodiac signs.

Indian seers say that the Nakshatras represent the abodes into which the fruits of our labor (our Karma) is transferred and stored. The Nakshatras dispense the fruits of Karma, the highest of which is the fruit of our worship and meditation, our spiritual labor of life.

5. DESCRIPTION OF THE FIRST SEVEN LUNAR CONSTELLATIONS
1. Ashwini
0° - 13°20’ Aries
Symbol: the head of a horse.
Deities: Ashwini Kumaras, the doctors of the gods.
Keywords: healing, having an eye for the needs of people, swiftness.
Translation: the horsewoman.

The Ashwini Kumaras are twins born as a result of Sanjna and Surya (the sun) being together. At the moment of impregnation Sanjna had assumed the shape of a horse. That is why this lunar constellation is called horse woman. The twins appeared to have healing powers. They have cured many mythological characters who needed medical help. Therefore this constellation has to do with healing, with putting a halt to the ageing process and with eternal youth. A doctor has to be on the spot quickly. A good doctor travels at high speed to the place where he has to help sick people or has to assist in case of an accident. Good ways of transportation are indispensable for this purpose. Because of the relationship between doctors, swiftness and good ways of transportation, this constellation deals with means of transport and rapid actions.

A person for whom the Ashwini constellation plays an important role, is open to the needs of others and wants to do something about these needs in a preferably quick and efficient way. This may result in heroic acts and as a consequence in a growing popularity of the person. In this case the ego has to be strong enough to handle this popularity.

The spiritual path belonging to Ashwini is that of a healer or shaman. This is the reason why practising shamanism is a good method for this constellation.
2. Bharani
13°20' - 26°40' Aries
Symbol: a vagina.
Deity: Yama, god of death.
Keywords: Changes emerge from within, big transformations. (births), love and support to everything that is alive.
Translation: the bearer (of new life).

Bharani has to do with growing processes that emerge from

within. It is the constellation of the womb where new life comes into being. It has to do with birth and transformation. Birth and death belong together. Each time we enter into a new phase of our life, we conclude an old one. The dying of the old is the logical consequence of the birth of the new. It is because of this that Yama, the god of death, belongs to this constellation.

The vagina is the symbol of this lunar constellation. The vagina welcomes the seed that makes new life possible and is the way through which new life comes into the world. The sexual deed is the foundation of the beginning of new life. The orgasm is also called: 'la petite mort' or 'the short death'. During an orgasm one looses control. For a little while the ego is dead and you are in immediate contact with the divine. 'The short death' is the moment that conception takes place: the beginning of new life. Bharani deals with birth and the protection of life. The transformation processes connected to this constellation can be violent.

This spiritual path may be intense and violent. It is about living your life without compromise and being open to transformation processes. Practising and understanding sexuality may help to gain insight into the mysteries of life and death.
3. Krittika
26°40' Aries - 10° Taurus
Symbol: a knife.
Deities: Agni, the god of fire and Karttikeya, general of the heavenly army.
Keywords: heroic, sharp, protecting, full of initiatives.
Translation: the one who cuts.

In the sky, Krittika is positioned in the form of a group of stars called "The Pleiades", or the "weeping sisters" as they are sometimes called. The warrior may bring destruction and sadness. However, he may also be the protector of the good and the destroyer of evil. The warrior knows what he wants and he is prepared to give his life in order to protect what is good.

Karttikeya, the general of the heavenly army, is the bearer of the golden sword. He fights demons and shines like the sun in his golden armour. That is why Karttikeya is associated with the golden light of the sun and the wealth connected with it. Agni, the other god that reigns over Krittika, brings destruction but also purification.

The word agni stands for the fire of digestion. If a person has little agni he cannot digest food very well. If agni functions well, all the good nutrients can be benefited from. The transforming energy of agni allows the body to be able to take in food. Without the fire of agni, there is no absorption of nutrients and thus no life.

This lunar constellation symbolises the way of the warrior. If Krittika plays an important role in a person's horoscope, Eastern martial arts may suit him. It is not a path of safety and comfort, but of knowing what you want and drawing the consequences of that. If your motives are pure, Krittika leads you to heroic acts and to the life the soul wishes for.

In the Bhagavad Gita, the heroic epic of Hinduism, the way of the warrior is described in detail (see reading list).
4. Rohini
10° - 23°20' Taurus
Symbol: a carriage (drawn by oxen).
Deity: Brahma, the creator.
Keywords: great beauty, wealth, artistic.
Translation: the red one.

Rohini is regarded as one of the most favourable lunar constellations regarding one's earthly life. Rohini was the favourite bride of Chandra, the lunar god. She became his favourite because of her beauty, artistically talents and expertise in the 'erotic arts'. The colour red which is associated with Rohini (Rohini means red) relates to passion and sensuality.

This constellation consists of five stars among which the red star Aldabaran. If the moon is in Rohini, she is in exaltation. This means that Rohini is an exceptionally favourable position for the moon to be in. Chandra, the lunar god, will flourish.

It is a constellation that may bring fortune and happiness. This entails a risk, however. A person with a strong emphasis on this constellation would immerse himself in the materialistic aspects of life in such a way that the spiritual aspect would be lost. Brahma is the creator: the god who made the material world. The symbol of Rohini, a carriage drawn by oxen, represents wealth. Rohini leads to the world of wealth, luxury and sensuality. This may enrich your life unless you would consequently neglect the spiritual aspect of your life. Spirituality however, does not necessarily mean asceticism.

The spiritual path of Rohini has to do with Tantra. Tantra is a religion from ancient India which consists of embracing life, enjoying all aspects of existence and, by doing so, reaching harmony with the universe and going into ecstasy and enlightenment (for more information see reading list).
5. Mrigashirsha
23°20' Taurus - 6°40' Gemini
Symbol: a deer.
Deity: Soma, manifestation of the lunar goddess.
Keywords: hunting, travelling, sensitive, fickle.
Translation: head of a deer (mrigas means deer, hirsha means head).

A deer is a shy animal, always looking for food and safety. It is a beloved animal that plays an important role in romantic stories. The little deer Bambi conquers the heart of all children. The deer has charm, it is sensitive, easily disturbed and changeable.

Because the deer is associated with love and romance the period that the moon is in Mrigashirsha is seen to be particularly favourable for love and romance. Soma is a manifestation of the lunar god. The moon is fickle like the deer. The moon expresses itself in changeable phases. In the Vedas, Soma is both the name of a manifestation of the lunar god and the name of a drug. Soma was a natural drug used in rituals to bring ecstasy to the user and to bring him into contact with the gods at the same time. It was considered to be the nectar of the gods, that would bring immortality (amrita). Perhaps these were hallucinatory mushrooms or a kind of alcohol. Until today, this is unknown.

After the Vedic period, the origin of Soma sank into oblivion. Soma is also the substance that is released from the crown chakra upon reaching a state of enlightenment (samadhi). This shows that it is possible to produce this substance ourselves. Like Rohini this lunar constellation has to deal with ecstasy and the enjoyment of life. It can bring uneasiness, but this is often the initiation to new experiences. The sign Mrigashirsha can sometimes also show a lack of perseverance.

The constellation is associated with travel and search. It symbolises the spiritual seeker with a romantic tendency, who is always looking for new experiences. The spiritual path of Tantra is also suitable for this constellation.
6. Ardra
6°40' - 20° Gemini
Symbol: a diamond.
Deity: Rudra (Pluto), the thundergod (manifestation of Shiva).
Keywords: new growth by elimination of old rubbish.
Translation: moistness, green, freshness.

This lunar constellation is very demanding. It knows both heaven and hell. Ardra is dominated by the star Betelgeuse. It does not like a superficial life.

The god that belongs to this constellation is Rudra, the thundergod. Rudra destroys everything that does not belong to a particular person. Most of the time, the ego considers these activities to be negative. Suppose you have a job that is neither good or bad and at least provides you with a reasonable income. However, your soul may feel that it is better for you to start leading another kind of life, for example the uncertain life of an artist.

If Ardra plays an important role in your horoscope, you may risk loosing that job, thus creating room for something new, a career as an artist for example. The person to whom this happens often sees the negative aspect of the loss of the job, but not the positive aspect of the new possibilities that arise. That is a pity because Ardra's moistness may manifest itself as the moistness of a tear (shedding tears over the loss, sometimes the tear is considered as the symbol of the constellation of Ardra) or as the moistness of the green, the new and the fresh things. It is up to the person in question what it will be.

If he is flexible and open to new possibilities, Ardra will manifest itself as the green of the fresh spring. If, on the other hand, it turns out to be a person who definitely wants to stick to the old, than Ardra manifests itself as the moistness of a tear. The symbol of Ardra is a diamond. Diamonds originate from pit coal that has been under high pressure for millions of years. This pressure creates the purity and beauty of the diamond that finally emanates out of this pit coal.

The path of Ardra is the path to an intense life and profound therapies like bio-energetics and intense psychotherapy. Ardra is one of the most spiritual constellations, because it makes it impossible not to live as the soul desires. This will eventually lead to the beauty of a diamond: a radiating person who expresses his True Self in the best possible way.
7. Punarvasu
20° Gemini - 3°20' Cancer
Symbol: a quiver.
Deity: Aditi, the goddess of abundance.
Keywords: reasonableness, philosophical, willingness to travel, but at the same time being very much attached to his own home.
Translation: prosperous again

Punarvasu is a lunar constellation that enables a comfortable life. The goddess belonging to Punarvasu is Aditi, the goddess of abundance. It is a lunar constellation that brings prosperity and well-being. This does not lead to a life that solely involves material pleasures, however. The quiver, the symbol of Punarvasu, represents energy and power.

If necessary, a person in whose horoscope the Punarvasu constellation plays an important role, is prepared to leave the safety of his home and to start seeking for the Holy Grail. Even if during this quest for the grail he would have to defeat several dragons. However, he will always return to his own home and he will be able to tell many stories about his adventures. He may even turn these stories into epics (Punarvasu is associated with poetry). Finally this will lead to a great inner wisdom which will be conveyed to others. A person with this constellation is not afraid of combat, and is generally home-loving. He will never look for unnecessary conflicts, because he attaches a lot of value to respect for the other person.

The spiritual path for this constellation involves gaining wisdom, travelling both literally and in the spirit, with a safe home as his basis to which he always returns. The experiences gained will be dealt with within the safety of the own home

Sun & Mars(Hmm and hmm again)
quote:
Argo - Pisces Decanate of Cancer

Argo was the ship used by Jason and his argonauts to search for the golden fleece, and it also represents the ark Noah used to survive the great flood that caused the final destruction of Atlantis about 9000 BC when the precession of the equinoxes was moving into this decanate. Restless adventures can lead to stormy seas. This Pisces decanate of Cancer symbolizes the curious mind that continually seeks new horizons and the secrets of Nature. Discontent often stimulates further exploration. The keyword is RESEARCH.

Moon (VERY true)

quote:
Canis Minor - Cancer Decanate of Cancer

Canis Minor, the little dog, represents a creature who is susceptible to the influences of others. This double Cancer decanate ruled by the moon can be quite emotional and family oriented. Feelings are strong and sensitive and can express through poetic and dramatic arts. One tends to take the shape of the environment and needs to be careful about negative influences though one can also be a positive channel for Spirit. The keyword is MOODS.

Asc (hmm and hmm again..)

quote:
Hercules is the hero who performed twelve labors of heroic proportion. This Capricorn decanate of Virgo ruled by Saturn manages tasks in order to develop even greater abilities. Every experience is a gain for the soul as greater mastery is learned. Planning and ambition diplomatically controlled and organized can overcome difficult challenges. The keyword is EXPERIENCE.

Venus (Finally something truly representing my Venus)

quote:
Canis Major - Libra Decanate of Gemini

Canis Major is the large dog containing the brightest star Sirius. For the ancient Egyptians the dog-star was associated with the annual flooding of the Nile on which they could depend. The dog symbolizes loyalty to a master, whether it be another person, an institution, or God. This Libra decanate of Gemini ruled by Venus represents loyalty and faithfulness particularly in marriage and partnership. Following the voice of conscience can be very important. The keyword is FIDELITY.
