I can't understand the chart shown at astro.com or how to go about interpreting it. Why does a progressed moon spend so long in one sign, and what stage is it counted from? Why are all the planets in different signs? Is it a sort of "composite" predictive method? I haven't a clue what it's all about!!!

Ah, this explains it better. Thank you, Peri!! Who "invented" the method?

My Progressed Sun is not far off changing signs, to Gemini (interesting - has been in Taurus for most of my life. Maybe I might see my life picking up in the next 2 years?????)

In next 2 years Moon could be in Gemini also (currently in Taurus). Even more interesting.

Unfortunately I don't know who invented progressions and astrology and I don't think anyone knows...

You keep your birth Sun sign characteristics all your life, but you add the characteristics of the following sign(s) to your behavioral repertoire as you develop. So the impatient Aries learns to slow down when progressing through Taurus. The stubborn Taurus learns to be more flexible when progressing through Gemini. The thought-oriented Gemini learns to rely more on feelings when progressing through Cancer. And so on. These are long-term patterns. The characteristics gained with each new progressed sign may not show up right away; we grow into them.

The Progressed Moon moving through the signs does not have a great deal of significance. There is a certain amount of emotional overlay, a reaching towards the experiences of life associated with the sign through which the Moon is moving during each 2 1/2 years. If the Moon is moving through Fire or Air your leanings will be to outer development, if Water and Earth you will be more introspective. The main point is to note compatibility with the Natal Moon sign, as a time when there is a vast difference in the signs could be stressful.
The Moon will make aspects between both progressed and Natal planets. These are of only a few weeks duration. They are often timing factors for events.

The Moon through the Houses: The 27 1/2 year passage of the Moon through the houses is important. This is almost a Moon Phase Cycle in itself. If you see the Moon on the AC as another New Moon you will see what I mean. Since this process is a more personal link it is more conscious than the Moon Phase. Due to differences in sizes of houses the cycle is uneven. You could use this to test out the different house systems. The life area represented by the house the Moon is moving through becomes emphasised. Look at the dual cycles of the Moon Phase and Moon Houses together. For instance, if the New Moon Phase starts in the first house, then the energies are compatible. However should this happen in the twelfth, it would be far harder to work with. A new Moon in the seventh when we are deeply involved with our relationship with others would not be easily expressed. A balsamic Moon in the tenth when we are concerned with our ambition and achievement would not be easy either, whereas a Full Moon would be ideal. As in all astrology work blending the themes is of paramount importance.

I think you begin with the phase it was in when you were born- and then calculate from there, according to that link Peri posted, it seems to spend about 3 years in each phase.

The system is almost certainly the "day for a year" system. which means that a progressed chart for a 23 year old would be the chart of the day that is exactly 23 days after the person was born. in other words, move the chart forward one day for every year of the person.

so my progressed chart puts me somewhere in the middle of August 1979, cause i was born in July 1979.

So given that my natal moon was a balsamic moon in Pisces, in the 6th, my current progressed Moon is now waxing in Taurus, and about to enter the 8th house of the progressed chart. Where it will join my progressed Sun for the next 2 years.

So most probably sex/money issues wil be on the agenda...

I'm fed up with my progressed Sun being in Taurus. Go on - git a move on, willya!!
