Hey Shop22Much,
As I understand it, the retrograde period is a time to regroup and be more introverted. I, myself, have Mercury retro in my natals and, based on experience with it, I would tend to agree with what you have noticed. Maybe because a native retro Merc tends towards a more internal thought process, when the planet goes through it's retrogrades the opposite affect is expressed in those natives.... ? It's a great note, nonetheless As far as Venus, I am still unclear on the influence it has in a natal.

I think that those with Mercury retrograde in their natal chart often think before speaking....so maybe they tend to say what they mean and mean what they say.
My Mercury went retrograde in my progressed chart and my life turned upside down. Gosh, I should check my progressed chart....my life is starting to turn around.

Interesting!
Mercury is my only retro planet natally. I usually keep very much to myself, don't talk much at all, don't communicate my feelings. I'll have to start paying more attention to transiting Mercury's effects on this. Maybe I could use the retro cycles to my advantage somehow.
