You haven't given us much information to work with astrologically, but I pasted some stuff from astro.com (which you may have already encountered) below.
The complaint about the over-practicality of Virgos and earth signs in general is certainly not a new one- but with these things (as with all things?) it's usually a matter of perspective. I may find a Virgo too "practical" (I am actually having this exact issue at the moment) but then a Virgo may find me too "impractical".
It sounds to me like you have a remarkable ability to just keep going through all kinds of strife- it does seeem like the way you deal with disasters (both big and small) is by staying dedicated to your work.
