Has anyone heard of Henry Darger?

"Darger Sr. died in 1905 and his son was institutionalized as feeble-minded, apparently on the basis of a doctor's diagnosis that "Little Henry's heart is not in the right place." A series of escapes ended successfully in 1908. The 16-year-old Darger found menial employment in a Catholic hospital and in this fashion continued to support himself for the following 50 years. His life took on a pattern that seems to have varied little: he attended Mass daily, frequently returning for as many as five services; he collected and saved a bewildering array of trash from the streets. His dress was shabby; he was a solitary. In 1930 he settled into a second-floor room on Chicago's north side. It was in this room, more than 40 years later, after his death in 1973, that Darger's extraordinary secret life was discovered. Amid a thick accumulation of debris- including hundreds of Pepto-Bismol bottles, nearly a thousand balls of string, old newspapers, magazines and comic books, religious kitsch and much more- his landlord, the photographer Nathan Lerner, found a creative life's work: an enormous literary and pictorial production. The key element was a picaresque tale in 12 massive volumes composed of some 19,000 pages of legal-sized paper filled with single-spaced typing entitled The Story of the Vivian Girls, in what is Known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion"

There's a documentary about him called "In the Realms of the Unreal" that I really want to watch. I did a birth chart for him and though the time is not know, he has something very fascinating- Neptune, Pluto and Venus all conjunct at 7 degrees Gemini. He was an Aries with a Libra moon. I wish I knew the birth time because I think he is a fascinating case study in astrology. Well, just wanted to share that.

Thank you. I had heard about him, but not through astrological circles. One ofmy other interests in mental illnesses and neurological disorders in creative persons, and I had know a little about Darger through that.

Who gets the profits form the sale of his paintings now?

Interesting to note that his chart has an Uranus singleton (only water planet) and that it's also, by degree at least, conjunct his moon. I drew a chart from 12 noon - if he was born even a little later on in the day, he would have had a Scorpio moon, which actually fits his story and his artwork better. I would be more confortable saying he had a Socprio moon myself, and that it was also a singleton by conjunction with Uranus - this could account a number of known things about him.

Pity we don't have a birth time - his mars may be a singleton too by house. It's dignified in Cap, so it's already very strong - Mars singletons can be rather malefic and given what we know about him, this is very possible.

That Pluto-Venus-Neptune conjunction is highly significant - ooo I wish we had the birth time to get a better idea. If his moon was actually in Socrpio and not Libra, this stellium would also be a singelton (only air) by conjuncton, WHOA what a powerful one. With someoen so socially isolated, Pluto is a major player - I would guess that in additiont o it being a singleton, it's very likely that this stellium was also near or aspecting his ASC. This certainly would explain a massive written surreal tome that was kept secret frrom the world (air - thought, ideas; Gem- writing; Venus - creativity; Neptune - surreality; Pluto - isolation, secrets). The title "Realms of the Unreal" seems almost like a dead give-away. It sounds like he was literally consumed by the stellium - a very strong indicator that this configuration at least acted like a singleton in some way.

I'm also really interested in finding out who gets the profits. Internet search has yielded nothing thus far.

The problem is that the birth country is also unknown- I read either Brazil or Germany- so quite different. If it was Brasilia, Brazil, 9:45am, it would put his Gemini stellium in the 12th house which would add mental institutions, a secret life and painting to the stellium. I think that makes sense, also conjunct his ascendant, as you mentioned. This would place Saturn in his 4th house which seems to fit and his strong Capricorn Mars in the 8th- maybe adding that strange sexual aspect that his works have (the little penises on the girls. Uranus/Moon conjunction works for that too).
"Realms of the Unreal" is uncannily fitting though, isn't it? I would almost give that title to his birth chart if people did that sort of thing. (I like the idea of giving titles to birth charts... hmmm..)

thank you art(lovesdawn), for the info.
I think I'm going to rent the film tonight- I'm excited. I did a Chicago birth chart, and 7:51am would place his stellium in the 12th, again, and Mercury is then also there. Saturn and moon in 5th, Uranus in 6th and the conjunction is not very tight in this case.

Darger was a serial killer in effect if not fact.

- from the second link!
I didn't even know that was one of the theories- that he has the psychological make-up of a serial killer.
