Hi allI am commissioning an artist friend I know to create a piece of artwork for my sisters birthday. I want it to reflect the essence of her and her life and I want it to be full of symbology and meaning. I have plenty of ideas and the work is slowly taking form in our minds. But I got thinking about the Capricorn energy and the 'imagery' that it creates. Im not talking about the obvious stuff like the Goat or Saturn or symbols that represent it. I mean colours, fabrics, textures, images. I love these complex people (but only from a distance Im Libra and we dont really understand each other). I see much in my Capricorn friends and colleagues - their great strength and dignity of purpose, their patience and tolerance, their vulnerabily and I can often see a deeper yearning to be more liberated but not knowing how, their occassional bashfulness, their loyalty, their reverse aging and their dry humour and ability to see through the absurdity of life and situations. Saturn rewards are slow coming and can be a heavy weight for these sensible and responsible people to bear. So, artistically - I see Capricorn as rock (soil, greenery and growth are much more Taurus) of the earth energy. So I will probably use granite colours and shapes in there. I see velvet as a Capricorn fabric. And midnight blue as their colour. These are just a small selection of some ideas we have but Id like to throw this open - close your eyes and unleash your imagination and tune into all the Capricorns you know. What representations do you get - anything at all - however weird and whacky (all the better) anything at all, Id be really, really interested in your ideas and beautiful creativity. Thank you With much love xxxxxxx IP: Logged |

I think there is definietely an element of "tuning into the universe" in Capricorns (think Isaac Newton, Stephen Hawking). You are right about the velvet faric, I'd also volunteer the colours black, brown, deep purple-maroon, grey, imagery: fallen or bare trees, the god Janus.IP: Logged |

I'm a Capricorn. Perhaps we ought to be represented as a useful rock such as the cornerstone of a building.Blue is my favorite color for certain, but I prefer the lighter tones. I also like burgundy, biege, grey and black. I am inspired by fellow Capricorns that have gone before me in areas that I'm interested in. For instance, David Bowie is my favorite musical Capricorn. Martin Luther King, jr. is my favorite humanitarian Capricorn. I just looked at a picture (painting print) on my wall. It's of the beach. Perhaps your rock couldn't be standing proudly against the waves of the ocean...or perhaps your sister is standing on that rock. The Capricornian calm is often a reason people enjoy having us around. The chaotic seems much more bearable when we're around, because we're not ones to give power to drama (even if we're known to be chronic worriers). In this way, I think we could be symbolized by a giant, shady tree. We silently take people in and make them feel comfortable. I think that whatever the art comes out to be, it ought to be beautiful. Capricorns are artistic and fairly critical. While she'll really appreciate the gesture no matter what, the more beauty, grace and charm the art has, the more she'll be into it (we are a feminine element). As a Libra you should be good at ensuring those things... ...but how will you ever decide on what the art should incorporate? lol Just a little Libran humor there. IP: Logged |

Mystic Gemini, Ariestiger and Acoustic GodThank you so much for your comments. They have been really interesting and Ive picked up particularly on the 'universe' thing and the trees. Those stand alone rocks on the Saturn picture struck a chord too. I can see it beginning to take form but, as you pointed out Acoustic, its a delicate balancing and decision making process!!! Its got to be right!!!! lol Btw - I love the way that you all knew exactly what I meant by my request - bare and fallen trees aries is my favourite, would never have thought of that but its true, its essence of Capricorn. Thanks guys Much love xxxxxxxxxxx IP: Logged |

Haha, I have no idea. I'm not that kind of artist. The stage is more my thing. IP: Logged |

Bare and fallen trees the essence of Capricorn? I don't think so. That would be offensive to receive as a representation of your core. A bare tree might represent a winter tree, and we are born in the winter, but the imagery of lifelessness wouldn't be accurate. We are more sensitive than we may seem.IP: Logged |

Yay! Another Cap in here to help define us. I totally agree with our romanticism, and I too would be repulsed by the image of a unicorn. I think our artistic sensibilities are often overlooked. I think we love beauty as much as any Libra, and we're good at creating beauty as well.IP: Logged |
