the ascendent and moon's degrees can't be known. Is there anything else that you should ignore in a chart without the exact time?IP: Logged |

Well, without the exact ASC you can't know houses. That's a biggie.Without the exact moon position, all aspects to the moon are not clear. That's another big problem. The moon is one of the two luminaries - the two most important bodies in the chart - with other being he Sun. It's difficult to get a very good read of the chart wihtout a precise moon placement - it can change lot of how the chart overall is interpreted, especially inc ases where it isn't clear which sign the moon is in. So at best you can speculate, but you really can't make too many definitive interpretations without the exact moon placement. If you can a general time of day, if you can't ge the exact birth time it's better than drawing up a chart with an arbitrary time or no time IP: Logged |

However, Beebuddy, IF you know the person well, and you have an IDEA about his or her ascendant, and it's worthwhile to you to play around with it, you could go into astro.com and plug in the estimated time for that ascendant, and see what happens. You can see which house the sun falls in which is always very telling. Let's say this is a person's whose every fiber of her being is wrapped up in her work, and in the chart you just created her sun comes out to be in the third degree of the 7th house, you might want to plug in an earlier time to have the Sun fall into the 6th. Then look at the Moon. Sometimes you are "lucky" and the Moon falls in the beginning or the end of a sign that you absolutely KNOW it couldn't be in, let's say a Gemini Moon vs. a Cancer Moon -- there should be no doubt about that -- with the Sun already in the correct house, and the Moon pointing in yet a more definite direction, you can now further adjust the picture, and so on. It's sort of like playing detective, but you do have to know the person quite a bit, otherwise it's really only a shot in the dark. But if you do know the person... it can be done. And it's fun to see more pieces fall into place once you've figured it out. Naturally, you have to keep in mind that you are not (only) doing this as confirmation what you already think, but that you are on a discovery mission, and sometimes, if the ego gets in the way, this can be a narrow road to travel.
