What areas of a chart show the potential for abuse?

Depends on what kind of abuse.

I personally do not think a chart indicates a child will be abused, only how vulnerable to abuse the child may be and of what kind.

Children vulnerable to sexual abuse for example, may have a variety of indicators that leave their 8th house vulnerable. Vulnerable 4th and 12th houses can indicate similiar vulnerablity. These are all water houses and are both psychologically vulnerable as well as areas where profound memory on a subconscious level is located.

Another indicator is a vulnerable Pluto - Pluto rising, or an afflicted Pluto can suggest not only a child is vulnerbale to being abused (their Plutonian energies are percieved as a threat by their abuser - triggers undeserved hostility towards the child), but that the child could potentially become an abuser in adulthood, as they have not been shown how to handle their Pluto energy in a wise manner.

In some cases, it appears children suffer abuse largely due to synastry with their abuser and not specifically due to anything overt in their own natal charts. Afterall, we all have our vulnerablities, and should we be forced as a child to be around someone who, by synastry, reacts negatively, viciously and advantageously towards our vulnerablities, we become the object of abuse ourselves. I do think some children as more vulnerable than others, but as a norm, all children are vulnerable to some important extent.

Interesting, GN. Do you know whihc aspects in synastry between the abuser and the child would be? I'm thinking specifically of sexual abuse/incest.

My close friend, who I've mentioned on this fourm before; was born only three days before me. Our charts are very, very similar except she has an Aqua Moon vs my Pisces Moon and of course the houses are off. Still, many of the major aspects are the same and our lives have had a similar pattern. The exception, is she unfortunatly had to go through the above traumatic ordeal while I didn't.

Of course child abusle would show up in a chart. Why wouldn't it?

Look for mars and saturn and pluto in retrograde. A mercury retrograde may indicate verbal abuse. Pay attention to the houses also.

thought provoking topic.
I would say mercury retrogade in itself no, but opposite or square other planets yes. Hard aspects to mercury can lead to receiving or giving verbal abuse.

Women with lots of water or strong water in their charts tend to remember more detail, I do not know firsthand any men who have been abused. I don't know if we are quoting case studies here or actual experience?

I am a Pluto Ascendant in Leo (12th house) and have other things that cause some folks esp. women to perceive me as a threat and act accordingly including those that should not do so the most...How to tear through all the alleys and cubbyholes one built mentally to survive? How to find the me behind all the masks and survival walls built so long well and sturdy? When i see me again will i be maggoty white and unformed like a grub or just in too many disconnected pieces to find?

The best advice I can give here, is get your hand on as many of those self-help workbooks as you can find. They ask you hard questions you would never have thought to ask yourself and it can really tear down the walls and doors.

Keep a journal and write write write. This is like a poison, you must let it all drain.

Also, keep a dream journal. It too can be very revealing.

Chiron can be very telling in a chart, for obvious reasons. Chiron/sun aspects can be an indicator of abuse(of any kind)suffered by the father figure. Same deal with Chiron/moon & mother figure. Mercury/Chiron may speak of abuse by a sibling or cousin/aunt/uncle/neighbor...etc. I think if these contacts are flavored by Mars, you'll find physical abuse/ violence. If flavored by Pluto, pychological abuse which can also be sexual abuse. If venus, perhaps a sexual abuse of a more softer nature, purely for the self serving enjoyment of it, not as a means of psychological control.
