having and having an immoderate sensual appetite?

My jupiter is in scorpio and it said that when I did my birth chart.

Is that bad? I am confused now about Jupiter.

It also says I am brusque.

because Jupiter amplifies- and when it is in Scorpio it amplifies Scorpionic traits and issues, for better or worse.
I wouldn't say you're brusque, maybe a little forward. (not a bad thing)

well, Jupiter does a lot more than "amplify", of course. I just wrote that because it explains why the interpretation Mystic G read would say she may have an "immoderate" sensual appetite. "Immoderate" is one of those Jupiter catch-phrases astrologers often use. Anything "in excess" and you can bet you're dealing with this planet- allegedly.
It is the planetary ruler of Sagittarius- so that gives hints to its significance. "Expanding horizons"- another catchphrase.
Jupiter is the planet of growth and optimism, luck. It may give clues to religious and spiritual views- from dogmatism, if *badly* aspected, to transcendence.
from www.astro.com:
Jupiter
The search for individual meaning and purpose, optimism, hope and a sense of justice are represented by Jupiter. So also faith, a basic philosophy of life, the striving for spiritual growth and expansion.
Sign equivalent: Sagittarius
Orbit from Sun: 778'330'000 km
Period: 11,9 Years

It placement in your chart is often said to indicate where you are lucky and blessed, but also where things are "big". In the 5th, for example, it would probably give you grand love affairs. I've heard that when it transits your 1st, you may put on a bit og weight. Things grow with Jupiter, metaphorically, and physically.
There was also a thread about acting more like our Jupiter sign and through this bringing blessings and success into our lives. In conjunctions and trines, it emphasizes the other planet and its placement.
It's quite fascinating. Though I'm trying to truly *grasp* it. (can you ever??)

White Rabbit,

I have never really gotten the whole Jupiter thing.

My Ascendant is Sag and I have Jupiter in the 1st (alone,no other planets, just astroids Juno and Aphrodite). I am definitely a screaming optimist. LOL, but if that JUPITER is RETRO does that change things (Saturn is in my 2nd)

hey lily,
I had a lover recenly with a Sag rising and Jupiter in the 1st conjunct his Asc. (he also had Uranus and Neptune in the 1st, however). He was a magnificent lover, extremely attractive, and had a very large penis.
But, he's a man and that may have been just good genes. I will think about your placements, do some readings and get back to you.

Seeing that your ascendant's ruler is in the 1st house, this in a sense gives you a double Sagittarius rising.
I would say that having Jupiter in the 1st house would give you great personal magentism- you attract people through your sheer presence and some x-factor, je ne sais quoi quality.
You're probably luckiest when you simply go somewhere with nothing but yourself as a weapon and take things head on. Does that make sense? Like, someone's gift is words, someone else is good with empathy, or creative expression, or an ability to make powerful friends. But with this placement I feel that you yourself, standing with nothing but the clothes on your back and the shoes (optional) on your feet are your own best weapon. I think they call it 'personality'.
As I mentioned, I knew (know?.. do you still "know" people you've dated.. I don't know how this works) someone with this placement, so I will paste the astro.com intrepretation if you haven't already read it.
Ascendant in Sagittarius, Jupiter in the First House

At the time of your birth the zodiacal sign of Sagittarius was ascending in the horizon. Its ruler Jupiter is located in the first house.

Sagittarius rising denotes lives which are very dualistic; situations come and go as if divided into two sides - success and failure.

If you are able to raise the interests of your mind from common and trivial things to more profound subjects, your intellect will become very philosophical and attracted by law and peace, and it will be more intuitive than rational. In any case your life will be colored by impulsive and rather stubborn tendencies on your part, creating some inclination to go to extremes,

During the course of your existence you must try to develop intuition and human understanding so that you may be in a position to assist other people with your advice.

Sagittarius gives you a rather strong love of nature and makes you somewhat extroverted, demonstrative and passionate, falling in love frequently and without reservations. You are an intellectual, an intelligent person who has been fortunate enough to be granted also a good development of the emotional functions.

Your romantic life will be intense and varied. Your object of love may find you difficult to understand. In one aspect you will appear as passionate and energetic but because of the mutability of the sign you will also have an opposite tendency that will lead you away from involvement in the love affair and the latter impulse will be caused by a more inner trait, which is personal freedom.

Generally speaking, the sign of Sagittarius will incline you to exist in environments in which your physical body, emotions and thoughts are allowed total freedom for development. On a higher intellectual level you may find yourself inclined to dwell in the deep complexities of philosophy, metaphysics, religion and law. You are versatile enough to study more than one discipline simultaneously not forgetting to keep your body in physical movement, since you require both intellectual and physical exercise.

The general meaning of this position is that any success in life will be achieved through personal effort and merit. There is also a tendency for dignity and respectability caused by your strength of temperament.

You give an impression of spontaneity, frankness, and good disposition. Your temperament is innately honest, truthful, kind and courageous.

To internalize what this all means- think of the first house, what it represents. Now imagine having this large, magnificent planet all by itself in this house. Jupiter to me is like one of those fat, happy Buddha statues.
Enlightened, well-fed and jolly. All at once.

here is some interesting reading on Jupiter retrograde: http://www.healinguniverse.com/jupiterretro.htm

hope that helps!

Whiterabbit, does he have a brother??

I am just kidding, I know a Jupiter conjunct Ascendant, only he is a Gemini rising, Sun in Cancer. I often wonder about him, but I am waiting. Now you are have sparked my curiousity,

Jupiter does amplify but it's dry,
Jupiter conjunct the moon will give the emotional responses a dryness so that the person does not seem to be very emotional but actually he/she is very emotionally needy and can't show it.

Jupiter on the moon amplifies emotional neediness especially in regards to women, but it's dry due to the fire nature of Jupiter.
The men tend to be really into being men, trust men, more than women, but need validation emotionally, so they turn to the opposite sex. If there is a bad relationship with the mother, the need is amplified.

Dry planets in conjunction with the moon can give a bitter, sarcastic nature if exposed to that. Jupiter is also very capable of mimicking other people's emotions so you have someone whose emotions run all over the place. Good for an actor, but can lead to drinking, medicating if the emotions are seen as coming from outside, actually the native needs to express his or her own emotions more and be less dependent on others.

Very gullible, and open to new ideas, Jupiter is kind and good, but can be taken advantage of.

Jupiter is a fascinating planet and it's my ruling planet too so I run into quite a few people with Jupiter conjunct personal planets, and Saggies.

Simplicity is important for strong Jupiterian people, simplicity in goals, and day to day life.

Sensuality is about emotional involvement, and Jupiter helps you pick up other people's feelings, but the opposite is true. The sex drive can stop when the person is pushed through emotional changes. It's not stable, or consistent.

Hot Dang, White Rabbit, I am almost a vertiable Goddess! LOL.

Well, I don't have a large penis...hahah, but when I went for my last mammogram, the technician, looks at me and says, "Wow great work, who did them?" Did them I exclaimed. These puppies are real baby...its genes and Victoria Secret bras worn round the clock. HAHA!

Anyway, I was very shy as a child but every year I get more exuberant and full of my joyous self. I sort of attract people I guess. My little one asked me last night why I seem to "know the whole world". I don't I just talk to strangers---the old lady watering her grass, the man who helps me with my groceries (Gem/Sag thing?)... I told her because you don't want people to think they have been forgotten.

As for luck, two time cancer survivor! I know luck...

PS: I just found out I have that GREAT ATTRACTOR exploding star thing (Sag 14) tightly conjunct my Sag 13 Ascendant). Hahah. I need to start a cult group or pole dance or something...forget this dutiful wife and mother bull. I have missed my calling for certain. LOL!!!!

I have jupiter in the 7th in Sagittarius. This is all very interesting since I don't quite get Jupiter either..this placement is supposed to suggest that I have "luck" in my relationships with people.

But I am not so sure about this

Can anyone give some insight? I have:

Mercury conjunct Jupiter (01 05)
Mars sextile Jupiter (01 33)
Jupiter conjunct Neptune (01 04)
Jupiter sextile Pluto (03 15)
Jupiter opposition Ascendant (I never understood how this affected the way people percieve me. I don't know why, but I always am interested in how I appear to others.02 13)
and Jupiter sextile Midheaven(01 54)

My cousin and I both have Sag risings and we are both well endowed in the chest area,

I am petite so I feel I will fall over!

Whiterabbit, dry means unable to express emotions in a soft way.
Think of a general rallying his troops verus a man telling a bedtime story to his child.
Jupiterian people are better with lots of people it's true than one on one. Al Pacino has a Sag moon, but he is not exactly warm emotionally-more larger than life, a leader but not warm.
His talent is being focused and sharp, and dry. Watch the Godfather Part II.
And Brando is a Sag rising

I am very much into knowing the whole world too,
very much gem/sag thing.

and Jupiter is about leadership too, I am always leading and starting things.
I started my own business and a business for my ex, with has Sag/7th house.

Sag/1st, and Sag/7th both love sensuality, massages, oils.

Jupiter is where you'll find a lot of clues to how you approach "optimism". It will also show you how far you're willing to go in terms of travel (mind & physical) - and higher education. The House it's in is also VERY important.

I'd say you have a whole lot of fortitude, and you will be interested in making money, attaining wealth and security.

Sometimes that's not what we really want, but it's what we have to learn to do.

What do you think?

my jupiter is in capricorn and is said to be a good placement for the planet. My mars is in cap and that is an excellent placement as well.

Anywho my jupiter cap is in the 12 house. I think this would allow me to suceed at earning money through helping others. maybe as a healer or counseller and relying on my intution and gut instincts and paying close attention to emotions of others and giving them practical advice. But thats just my own interpretion.

I also have:
-Sun Sextile Jupiter 4°38
*which is a relativly solid aspect. Again, its a good aspect for heightened senses, or at least in my opinion. my scorpio sun seems to mesh well with my jupiter energies. downfall: this creates an overly serious secretive person. This is true, I need to work hard at trusting people. that is really my only major aspect that includes jupiter. But I think its an important one. it allows me to hone in on the emotions of others and almost feel the depth they feel internally. But hey, I am just having fun with this, feel free to give me a real interpretion.

also my cap jupiter at 9 degrees turns my girlfriends normal trine of taurus sun at 10 degrees and virgo moon at 9 degrees into a grand trine. what does this entail, if anything?

her cap neptune at 3 degrees does not make the three placements tight enough to form a grand trine, I think. does it mean anything when one persons aspect makes another persons trine into a grand trine? This is the second time in the chart it happens..maybe even 3rd, but at least two times it happens. But for sake of jupiter talk I will just mention that one. what about the planets involved? her moon and sun with my jupiter?
