I was a lil confused about this but my question is which ones are the strongest?

I know that I have conjunctions by signs but not forsure about degree's.

i'm no expert, but i'd venture to say that within 8 - 10 degrees of each other is conjunct. for example, my sun is 10*libra and my mars is 26*libra and i do not consider them conjunct. however, my mars26*libra IS conjunct my uranus5*scorpio. in my humble opinion i think degree conjunctions are stronger. i don't totally discount sign conjunctions though!

Huh. I'm still lost.

------------------
Gemini sun, Cancer rising, mercury in Gemini, moon in Taurus *29, venus in Taurus, mars in Libra

That's a good quetion. I can tell you one thing - In Vedic astro they don't even look at orbs, they only take sign conjunctions. Their logic is that a sign has the greatest influence on a planet - It gives it it's "color" so if you have two planets in the same sign, even if the orb between them is 28 deg, they are still conjunct.

hows it goin sweetie? hopin all is well with you and yours my pisces friend
heres my two cents on your question,
i think there is an understanding,& a familar feel to sharing planets in the same sign but
i think degree conj.s fuse the two planets in a more intimate way & the closer the orb the closer/deeper the feeling

It depends. Some planets seem to extert a "wider" influence so conjucntion by orb matters less: this includees Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and maybe Uranus and Pluto. Other planets seem to need a tight orb to exert themselves in a conjunction: Mercury, especially, but also Venus and Neptune. The moon is iffy - it's a luminary, like the Sun, so it's a predominant voice in your chart, but it's also receptive and can get bullied around in conjunction (esp by Saturn, Uranus or Pluto).

Other things affect how dependant/independant a conjuncted planet is on orb:

- whether it's a singelton: singletons are LOUD and work well beyond the typical orb. In singletons by conjunctions, you can have a by either orb or sign. For example: singer-songwriter Elliot Smith had Taurus moon and Saturn in the 12th house, but too wide for conjunction by orb. It does appear that this pair acted as a singelton by conjunction, as these were the only earth planets in his chart. Morevoer, while being a very lunar person (his moon was conjunct his ASC, so this was readily seen in him), his lunar energies were evidently afficted by a heavy, malefic Saturn presence that is typical of a moon-Satrun conjunction.

- if the planet is dignified, in rulership or exalted. If the planet is dignified, it can take more command of the sign it's in, and exert more influence over other planet in that sign, orbed or not. Ruleshipa dn exaltation are the two highest types of dignity, so they shouldbe looked for. The difference that dignity can make in this way is seen most dramatically in Mercury, Venus or the moon when they are in rulership or exalted.

- the planet is in an angular hose, especially it is conjunct the angle. this is technically a type of dignity, but one that is readily discernable, beause the angle acts like leverage for the planet to exert its influence. So the planet will dominate any other planet in that same sign, regardless of orb even if in another house, in a conjunction-like way.

In all the astro books I read they say a conjunction is 0-8 degrees.......but I would always allow up to 10 or so!

Great question and I was just thinking out this!
I just read conjuctions are up to 10 degrees.Strangely I always thought it was within 3 degrees. I personally think the closer they are the stronger it gets. My pluto and mars are 10 degrees difference and I'm not sexy as hell swatting away men like I'm supposed to be doing. I can't even get a date!

So what then would be trine within 10 degrees?
Sextile within 5 degrees???
