hehe..I feel like I'm summoning superheroes to my assistance.

I was speaking to a friend of mine who is an editor of one of the campus newspapers at my university and she asked me if I would like to write an article for her. I jokingly responded that I would love to write an astrology column. She thought it was a brilliant idea and she brought it up at a meeting- and it was accepted! Now I am having a minor panic attack- I was only kidding, after all. But in a way I think it's a pretty interesting and unusual opportunity.

Now- how exactly would I do it? The paper comes out twice a month. So- should I look at aspects for each of the 12 Sun placements? But what about the degrees? How would I write a somewhat accurate dsecription? Assume early degrees? That wouldn't be accurate! ARGHH!

Please help, any ideas would be useful. Should I have a really unconventional horoscope- seperate early degrees, middle degrees, late degrees? I don't know!

P.S. it's a free paper so I will not be making any money from this. Just for those of you who may have been raising their eyebrows.

whiterabbit-

Congrats!! What a deal.. I sympathize with your minor panic attack.

What came to mind is.... instead of doing the ordinary find your sign in the paper thing... maybe you could pick a specific topic to talk about.. like moon signs.. keep it witty and light you know "Sex in the City" style. You could even enlighten one as to how to figure out their moon sign.
This could lead to more of an editorial format.. who knows?

Whiterabbit

I see this as a wonderful oppurtunity
release your fears, you can do this
Stargazer had some very good ideas
Since it comes out twice a month
Just do each month
One for the sun sign
and perhaps the other
on how to find the ascending
since we should read both
for a better picture
of ourselves

Just Ideas
You'll figure it Out

Love and Light to ALL

Oh WR..that is wonderful!!! I think that doing either a moon sign column or even venus sign column would be great. Venus sign might be a bit easier to figure out (you can add a little table since most people will fall into a specific age group or like what was recommended - list a site that can help them find out - astro.com is great).

I also like the potential of writing a Sun column based on degrees. Wow... you can even have a theme month / week:

Pluto and you - then go into the transiting pluto and how it affects various Sun Signs. Then look at how the Sun affects people's natal Pluto.

Another could be how Mars is expressed through the signs or the compatibility between ones Mars and anothers Venus.

I think you will do so well with this venture!!!!

Congrats again!!

will it be a column on astrology theory or the usual predictions for each sign?

Why don't you make a blog and post your articles on internet for people to follow this?

Sounds like great fun as well as a great opportunity!

Were it I, my approach would probably be to forgo writing individual horoscopes for the sun signs and concentrate primarily on the slower moving planets (Venus-Pluto) and major longer-lasting aspects of the periods in between issues, with special attention paid as well to the influences of the full and new moons and the conditions they favour in traditional astrology. For instance, a gardener might find it useful to know when the best time is to pick and plant according to the lunar cycle, and college-age girls will appreciate knowing when their best chance is to get a good haircut ... or a good man.

Awesome, Whiterabbit! Take it and run. I love the idea of doing something a little different. There are some great ideas already listed.

Yay! I'm happy for you!

I suggest one issue before doing individual sign descriptions,, to make an article on the history, and validation of astrology. In it show the arguments against the ancient science and art, then shoot the arguments out of the water .

From there maybe make the sign descriptions a series,,covering only 3 or 4 per issue...

Magus has a great idea as an intro.
I did this for my work newsletter. People have questions, and like with anything, even if they are interested, they often discount it before they look into it.
Make believers by logic and faith.. or if not believers, at least less-skeptical peeps.
Havre fun! You can do it! PLus with your flair with words, I wouldn't be surprised if you blew everyone out of the water.
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone, those are some great ideas. I think the editor is expecting just a regular horoscope for the 12 Sun signs, but I will use my wily ways to try and get some more freedom.
I would love to write an introduction, as Magus mentioned. And concentrating on different planets, themes, those are all things I would love to do.
Thanks you all for your support.
When I have something solid down maybe I will post it and get some feedback?
Pixie- did you do an article about astrology for your work newsletter or did you do a horoscope column?

Hi Whiterabbit,

Congrats. Is there major transits for every month avail at astro.com? That would have been nice.

Have you heard of Marjorie Orr?
I think she is great. You may want to compare your interpretations with hers or more people like her. Just a thought. Heres her URL.

I just did a one time article.
The 'editor' said it was really long, though I tried to make it fun..... but it still took a lot of space, and I barely covered the basics.
So eyeah, maybe you can add a snippet here and there within the horoscopes themselves?

even if u are making money , thats pretty ok . if we can be help , i would feel happy for that .

my view , u should go for the pyschological aspects of signs in different situations .

situations that are common in our day day life . it would very generalised but i think it would help the young people realte and make it interesting .

good luck and hope you astro muse pulls it off for ya!

Pix.

Describing the planetary iflueces like a party might help peeps understand I.e saturn is like ya dad picking you up at 10.30 just as venus has set up the music, and neptune has got back with a crate of beer.
