Hello everyone. A while ago I mentioned that I was going to write an astrology column for one of the papers at my university. I had trouble deciding how to go about it properly- and when I was told I had to keep it conventional (ie. just the horoscope for all the Sun signs) I decided to use Tarot cards (since the transits could never be accurate).
So- I pulled a Tarot card for each of the signs, used it to inspire me, and this is what I came up with;

Aries
(march 21-april 19)
Topic: A sword
Aries, it is time to stop weeping in secret and whining in public. What has happened has happened and now it is time
to rise above the pettiness. You may be in the mood for revenge, but it will only do you damage. Objectivity and
reason are on your side right now- it is time to see through the smoke, mist and angry tears in your eyes. It is also a time
for battle- with your mind. Make sure it is still sharp and then get out there and disarm the enemy with total honesty.
(no fists allowed!)

Taurus
(april 20-may 20)
Topic: alone may be better
Taurus, it is a good time to indulge in the finer things in life. Not that it takes reading such a message
for you to do so, but it is good to know that for a while, you are allowed to seek pleasure with no restraint
(well, some restraint). However, you also need solitude now more than you realize. If there is a way you can arrange
a few days of sensual pleasure (food, drink, scents), bonding with nature, spiritual independence and nurturing
of any sort (particularly plants!) it would be most advisable to do so. Any of the items listed would also be
beneficial independent of the rest. Just remember: Alone.

Gemini
(may 21-june 20)
Topic: sidewalk chalk
Feel like climbing a tree? Or getting the sidewalk chalk from under your bed? The crisp autumn days are calling
out the child in you and you should answer that call. Do the most ridiculously childish thing you can think of
right now. The messier, and more impractical, the better. It will be winter sooner than you know and fingers
freeze when drawing murals on the street at -15 degrees.

Cancer
(june 21-july 22)
Topic: a beginning
Anything new is good for you now, Cancer. It is also a good idea to start something new yourself- anything
that is calling you as long as it takes imagination and courage. You will be blessed as long as you
don't stop, not even for a moment, to look back. History always has a powerful pull on you, but
history must be abandoned at the moment. Keep your eyes forward and all will be well.

Leo
(july 23-august 22)
Topic: bees
You're in the mood for romance, but that is not what's coming your way. There is a lot of work to be done,
problems to be taken care of and people to cooperate with (somewhat reluctantly). Pack away your pride and
fantasies for now, and get down to business. You know the deadlines, you know the projects, you just
need to be woken up from the dreamy daze you have been in all summer. Rise and shine, Leo.

Virgo
(august 23-september 22)
Topic: Two
Virgo, which one will it be? Both are alluring, both somewhat precarious, both unpredictable and both
merit the time you are taking to make up your mind. However, there is not much time left.
Choose the one that your instincts are warning you against- this is a time to be contrary.

Libra
(september 23-october22)
Topic: A grin
Though this will not last much longer, it is possible at this time to get away with almost anything.
You have always had a natural knack for getting out of trouble with little more than a grin
but for the next couple of weeks this superpower of Yours is heightened. It is up to You to choose weather
to use this power for good or for evil- in either case it is best for Your schemes to be grounded in reality
rather than the realm of unfulfilled fantasy. Omens indicate that keeping things ambitious but
practical would be wisest for the time being.

Scorpio
(october 23-november21)
Topic: Restriction
Perhaps you feel that you are in a cage at the moment? This is partially true but it is important to realize
who the architect and jailer are: You. You may feel that Your eyes are covered and Your hands bound
but it is really just a question of choices. You feel that You do not have enough- but in truth the choices
you already know you must make are still possible. This is not really a time of restriction,
you may just be afraid of your freedom.

Sagittarius
(november 22-december 21)
Topic: Blessed, as usual
It is coming- what you never knew you needed. It may be a person, a word, or a gastronomic delight.
Perhaps all three together, in one evening. Do not be greedy but thank the Universe, or whomever
you tend to thank for the little miracles that you- the impossibly lucky Sun Sign, receive on a daily basis.
And this will be a miracle of miracles. Just remember where you leave your bicycle!
Capricorn
(december 22-january 19)
Topic: something lost
Do not despair! You have lost something, or never received what you expected. The more you struggle
to hold on to what is gone, the more you will suffer. If you walk away now, the wound will heal
and leave nothing but a tiny scar. If you remain, it just might break you.

Aquarius
(january 20-february 18)
Topic: swiftness
The world seemed to slow down for a time, but you can feel it speeding up again. Creative outbursts are
coming your way, but so are outbursts of all kinds. It is alright to be rash and spontaneous
but do not expect the same from those around you. Anything that needs to be said, however, should
be said immediately.
Pisces
(february 19- march 20)
Topic: The Hermit
Questioning the obvious is advisable at this time. If you feel a great need to be along and introspective,
do not think that it is melancholy coming over you. It is simply a time to retreat, perhaps lick some wounds,
but most importantly, to think. Do not spend the hours idly in your shelter but get to the bottom of things,
and yourself- alone, if it suits you. And it will.

Do you think this was a good method? I really can't do it using the planets- I could never make accurate descriptions that way. Thank you, Knowflakes!

Wow, whiterabbit!

This is a really cool and unique approach. I love how you adjusted the card readings to fit the signs. So original!

For what period of time are these predictions??

*Good luck with this! Let us know if you go with this idea and how it is received!

The Pisces card was spot on, and the hermit match up was quite interesting. Pisces is traditionally associated with the moon card (which allways surprised me, I thought that would be cancer) and I have allways identified with the Hermit and Magician. Love and light

re: constructing your article with the 'astrocards' .. great idea !!

.. i did see your other post .. what came to mind was an magz article i read on how column astrolgers figure out the 'generalized' predictions ( i.e. those mag starsign columns ) .. there is a method .. may involve the decantes .. .. .. trouble is .. i cannot find the article .. nor do i remember what the 'method' was called . .. ..

the article was in this publication : http://www.horoscope.co.uk/magazine.htm

.. but had a neptunian thought the meanwhile .. .. your'e going to be known as 'the awesome white rabbit' .. .. i went looking for a pic of said entity .. had in mind this giant rabbit .. standing on it's hind legs .. one front leg/paw holding up an 'astro bible' on high .. the other front leg/paw pointing to the book .. .. rabbit has manic gleam in eye ... rabbit is wearing a tattered silk tophat ..

.. all i could find wuz a benign feline ..
.. go for it ! ( the cards / astro column idea ) ..

Oh my God, whiterabbit!

I'm a Virgo and that is the most spookily accurate horoscope I've read, um, ever!!!!!!!! *shocked*
Worryingly right.......

So it's saying I should choose the unpredictable one I was inclining not to go for over the safer one I was depending more on?
Ooo..... interesting... don't think it would work out though.....
Um, do you do personal ones??

PS. It says not much time left! What does that mean?! Will one of my options walk away from me? And not much time, like, how much? A week/month/year...?

HD, Peri, you two are hilarious. Love the pictures. Thank you for all the encouragement, I feel thrilled that people are liking it. It's been sent off now so I'm awaiting my first publication! *shriek*
HD, I will try and find that article, I have been looking for something like that. If I use decantes, how would I still keep it one forecast per sign? If you find the article please share.

MNF- lol.. well, I was just using the Tarot card to guide me, so I can't give you the specific answers you are looking for. If you'd like, I can do a Tarot reading just for you? I think my message at the time was that both options are dangerous/unpredictable but your instincts still may be pulling you towards one of them- and not to listen to that voice.. which is odd, I usually tell people to listen to the voices. Thing is, some voices are evil and just plain wrong. Find the right one! Anyways, let me know if you want a Tarot reading.

thanks again everyone

Stargazer- Well, as a matter of fact, I did lose my Physics book today!
Hehe, well, seriously, yes, it does almost tie in with my own sign! I can relate! How cool.

whiterabbit- (shocked) ! ! A reading? You would do that for me?? Awww, yes, please, if you would! In my situation, um, neither voice is evil, though! But the 'two' thing really spoke through to me... there are two people I like, but pretty much in my pessimism I did't think anything would come of either of them... but I'm intrigued as to whether you can tell if it will!

Hi TMNF,

Here is your reading. I chose to do a "two paths" spread because I thought it would really give us some insight
into this situation of yours- these two fellows.

For the 1st possible outcome: This will be a situation of many changes- in your life: circumstances and outlook. The card I pulled is also associated with Cancer and I seem to recall that one of the individuals concerned is a Cancer- is that so? If yes, that's interesting..
In this situation you are brave, taking a risk, facing the winds of change with a head held high.
It's an unpredictable situation- no assurance of "victory", but it is also a triumphant card in its own way.
I see you out in the pouring rain with a smile on your face because you know that you're not afraid.
I think this is the more challenging path, but I feel it would also be more rewarding- although...
I don't know if "rewarding" means finding your soulmate and all that good stuff.
Rewarding in some kind of very personal sense- I see you being strong here, confident, maybe even alone?
Focus is also a key feeling here.. you are no longer confused.

the forces pulling you in this direction are (I accidentally pulled two cards for this although it's supposed to
be just one so interpret that as you like): Your good sense is pulling you here. Reality, practicality. This is not the deamer's path but the realist's. The part of you that does not believe in extravagance and overindulgence calls you down this road. But there is also a feeling of insecurity- oddly enough. Material insecurity, a feeling
that you don't know where you stand. Also a lack of funds? lol.. I don't know, sounds strange, is there money at all involved in this situation? Not enough money to go somewhere- that's my guess, not the cards.

the 2nd possible outcome: It's odd. Again, I see you independent here as well. This card is all about doing things on your own, wanting to be alone, being very disciplined and practical- and content too. It's a card of hard work
and abundance of things that you have created with your own two hands. Also, this is interesting- this card is often associated with the card I pulled for the 1st outcome- they are sort of a team. It seems to me that either way you will be in control and.. well.. "independent".
This card is also associated with Venus in Virgo.
Adding to that- it's a card that also has to do with "meaning and heart"- choosing the direction and people that
are meaningful and "deep". That's a more mystical interpretation of the card, from a book I sometimes use (it gives a somewhat different perspective on the cards).

the forces pulling you in this direction are:
An inability to see things from a new perspective, and change your fixed assumptions and views. Here you are being stubborn about something and refusing to change your mind- even if there are many reasons to do so. Also, not letting things "go with the flow", not letting them happen as they naturally should but trying to turn the tides, to take things in the direction you want them to go. This card is saying to let it be, to not be so hard-headed and controlling. Also, there may be a factor of not letting go here.. not letting go of something that needs to be abandoned.

the critical factor that will decide what will come to pass: Again, this card is just full of symbols of independence, "marching to the tune of a different drummer". It's also a card of finding balance within yourself, balance coming from tapping into a great power within in- this card has a lot to do with strength and control (over yourself, not others). It's associated with Mars in Aries- so it is the card of a warrior/pioneer. One who trecks across the lonely lands with no loneliness, only wisdom and strength.

This is how I feel, TMNF, though I have very little information about your situation so I hope that it will make sense to you: I think both of these situations will have a lot to do with internal things than external, all of the cards are telling me that it's all about your own personal development, about your journey towards indepedence and strength. That's not saying that all this talk of indepedence means there will be no romance with these two characters, or someone else. It's just that it seems to me the next little while and the decisions you make or don't make will be in the end, for the development and journey of your own soul. I don't see a bonding of souls, or deep and lasting ties. Not yet. But it does seem to me that an exciting and powerful time is coming up for you.
Also- in regards to your original question- you are going to be in control! Neither direction is really pulling more than the other, and it seems that the outcomes are actually quite similar. This all calls for courage, MNF,
for it is frightening and challenging to be the creator of your own destinies.

Good luck, let me know if this made sense and also how things are going.

Thank you so much whiterabbit! I sincerely appreciate the effort put towards that. Thanks
Hey- to let you know a bit more, and er make things a bit clearer I'll explain stuff a little better.
Ok- deal is, I've never had any sort of relationship ever, and I know you said there isn't a bonding of souls or anything, so presumeably at most it means light relationship? But seeing as I'm completely celibate any relationship would be big for me because it would be my first! I'm a little confused... does it mean nothing then?

2nd- yes, there are two people, guys, and one is a Cancer, the other a Capricorn. The taking a risk- sort of yes. I'm 15, they are 20. Rest assured to anyone itching nag their disapproval, there is nothing yet. I just really like them both. The other change & independence stuff? Yes, well, I suppose I'm growing up and this is all very new. Makes sense.
Reality, practicality- at first I thought the Cancer was the only person with sincere feelings who I even stood a mild chance with. The other, the Cap, seemed hard to get, because I get the feeling he's the type that likes lots of girls and isn't likely to ever think of me as anything special. However, the Cancer is nice to everyone which brings up the same problem!
No money issues yet... I think.
I don't if I'm independant... hard-working? Haha.. no. Sadly not.
Change fixed assumptions and not letting go- I can sort of guess it means I do have fixed views which I'm finding hard to adapt as I learn more about these guys, plus I can never decide whether they like me.
The Cap sort of said he'd take me out somewhere next year but I really don't know...
It does seem quite a bit about personal developement yes!
All this other independence stuff- I'm not really sure how to make sense of. Do you?
Anyway, all my gratitude!!!

Hey MNF,
I'll write more later when I think about your situation but I just wanted to tell you that I had my first real boyfriend when I was fifteen and.. he was 20! It lasted all of three beautiful and amazing weeks (I STILL think back to that time!). He was kind and good to me but soon realized that he couldn't handle me being essnetially a child, and him essentially an adult. A few years passed and then he got in touch with me again.. and was quite smitten again.. this time with an all grown-up me. And let me tell you.. that was mighty fun.
Although- 15 and 20 can mean different things to different people- as we have different patterns of development. BUT- I can tell you that if anything does happen there will almost certainly be struggles- because of the age difference as much as because of the way people around you will react.
A friend of mine dated a man about seven years her junior and it was difficult.

But- my brother is married to a woman who is nine years older than him..
there was a seven year difference between my parents.

It can cause problems, but if the people are essentially compatible and if being together is more important than any trouble that comes along, it can work.

Just remember that you are in very different places in your lives- and that for you this is in a sense the beginning of your romantic history, while for both of them it has likely begun some time ago. I can tell you something else- and don't get upset, you know that I don't at ALL think of you as a youngster around here.. but
When I was fifteen the difference between me and a twenty year old didn't seem nearly as big as it seems when you are twenty. A lot of things change in those "formative" years,
and though at your age I did feel (and was, like you are) older and mature, maybe even almost an adult.. there was still so much ahead, like there still is.

Having said all that...

I would never advise to stop the flow of a situation just because of potential difficulties, not when it comes to matters of the heart.

It sounds to me like they are both hesitant because of the age difference, and if that is so, well then that is so. There is not much you can do.

So- if you are really interested in "being with" one of them, my best advice would be to become even better friends, even closer than you are now. That way, with time, they may realize how much they like you and that it just doesn't matter how old you are.

Right now I'm sure both of them have red flags going up.

Also.. and I know you must HATE reading this, but I have to say it simply because it's true (and I've been told the same thing, and I hated hearing it):
don't rush into a relationship. Not because you are not "ready" (people of ALL ages rush into relationships) but because a relationship brings two people's lives and minds and hearts together in such a powerful and influential way that it can change the course of your life, it can change you, and ultimately, it can hurt you like little else can. I think that casual dating is greatly under-rated.. it is a good way to learn who you are, how you act with others, what you are looking for and NOT looking for in a person. It also ensures that when you do decide to have a real "relationship" with someone, they will be worth all of the.. well.. all of the everything that comes with it (good and bad), and that even if it ends, and ends badly, it was worth having that person so deeply involved in your life.
I'm not advocating a life of extreme caution (believe me, I am one of the least cautious people in the world) but rather one where you realize the worth of your heart, and that it is not a thing to be given away lightly and thoughtlessly. Have you see Lord of the Rings? Arwen makes a difficult choice, but she decides that sharing a life (even only a mortal one) with Aragorn is more important to her than never feeling the sting of grief and loss. Lol... I'm just saying.. your choices don't have to be "wise" and self-serving, but they should take into account how valuable your heart and devotion are.

Oh, boy..
this is a long response.. haha.. I didn't realize I had so much to say on this matter.
Sorry for my ramblings, MNF..

Good luck to you on the wild waters of love...

Brilliant! You used LOTR as an example! haha that's hilarious! Good point!
Infact, all of that was bloody wise!
Aww, it was kind of touching too!

Yeah, the good thing is, I have been getting to know them both better, and hopefully, if we're still in touch in a year's time, that's when things could kick start, considering I'll be well, you know...

Yeah my mum had a boyfriend when she was 16 who was 8 years older than her! And my Dad is 7 years older than my Mum. So meh maybe this runs in the family!

Hesistance- yeah, the Cancer said that my agewas specifically why, right now, he wasn't going to be thinking of me like that, but in the future 'who knows?' and the Cap occasionally goes likes "I'm leading you on!" or gets guilty about talking to me about stuff when he gets carried away and I dunno, forgets my age?!
Anyway, your advice was great.
Do you have any way of explaining the tarot-y bit now you know what it's about?

lol you've been great, are you going to make me pay you?
