Has anyone been diagnosed with this,
or know someone who has,
and would you (or anyone familiar with Asperger's)
care to speculate on some possible
astrological placements which might
explain or correspond with it?

------------------
"My friends, how desperately do we need to be loved and to love. When Christ said that man does not live by bread alone, he spoke of a hunger. This hunger was not the hunger of the body. It was not the hunger for bread. He spoke of a hunger that begins deep down in the very depths of our being. He spoke of a need as vital as breath. He spoke of our hunger for love.
Love is something you and i must have. We must have it because our spirit feeds upon it. We must have it because without it we become weak and faint. Without love our self-esteem weakens. Without it our courage fails. Without love we can no longer look out confidently at the world. We turn inward and begin to feed upon our own personalities, and little by little we destroy ourselves.
With it we are creative. With it we march tirelessly. With it, and with it alone, we are able to sacrifice for others."
- Chief Dan George

Hi Steve!

I've missed your posts here, glad to see you back.....

My son is "ADHD/Asperger's", or part of what they call the "Autistic Spectrum" of disorders. I'll post his placements. I think he will grow up to be an extraordinary man, but as an Aries/Leo/Leo, he'll have to get past that temper and that tendency to see himself as the Center of the Universe

I think there is a link with lack of earth in the chart and heavy air/fire oppositions.

While my daughter is too young to be diagnosed with anything, she has at least half the traits of one with A.D.D. The difference is her attention span doesn't tend to effect her memory retention or ability to learn. She can also focus on one task and see it to completion provided she's interested.

Just my personal analysis.

Hey lovely* - I was going to say that it sounds like your daughter's a good hyperfocuser.

I then did a search for a link to show you, and found this article:
http://user.cybrzn.com/~kenyonck/add/hunters_farmers.html

I wouldn't reference it in an academic paper, but as an ADDer (married to an ADDer) it made me smile.

Have you taken a look at this book?: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0684815311/ref=ase_balancecheckbookA/102-0988609-6860915?v=glance&s=books

~~~
This thread also got me thinking:
I wonder if ADD is at all related to Asperger's?
Probably not, but the question just popped in my head.
~~~

Oh!
And I found this link for the original poster: http://www.wrongplanet.net/

Not astrological, but eh.
If nothing else, I like the title

I have Asperger's, which I question is actually an autistic condition, or simply something that has overlapping traits (BTW the doctor who first dx'd AS and after whom the condition is named did not believe it was a form of autism either). I also don't believe that AS should be considered a disorder in and of itself, but rather more of a neurological difference.

I do have Executive Function Disorder and Non-verbal Learning Disorder, which are common among Aspies, but not exclusive to us, and those I don't have a problem with considering as "disorders". I also have other neurological-based traits common or frequent of Aspies too, such as hyperlexia (as a child), a savant-like talent (for music - mostly as a child, although some traits still linger), numerous sensory hypersensitivities, ambidexterity, eidetic memory and synesthesia. My IQ scores vary from the top 3% to the top 1% of the population, although normally I score right in the 1.5% bracket.

I am most definitely not ADHD adn never was even close to being hypractive as a child. However, like many Aspes (sadly) I do suffer from PTSD and chronic depression and have a long history of suicidal ideation although I have never made a serious attempt.

Interesting note about what Lovely said - there isn't a whole lot of earth in my chart, and there is only two fire placements and both are opposing air placements but I don't think that alone can explain my neurological freakishness. I have a chart that's heavy in Mercurial and Uranian aspects, combined with a Neptunian undertheme. Add to this that both my Uranus and Neptune are singletons. I personally think Mercury is key, and when combined with strong Uranian and Neptunian influences obviously you're going to get someone who's a bit, well, odd.

My chart:

I did a chart for a woman with Asperger's. One thing that stood out in her chart was that her Uranus is singleton and the focal point of a bucket.

So, how many of you fit that or something similar? an outer planet singlton by mode, house type or element? or otherwise dignified?

I was diagnosed with Asperberger’s back in my teens, I didn’t pay much attention to it since my doctor shared most of the results with my mother at the time.

It wasn’t until my first year of college that I began to think about what my doctor said.

Sometimes I can be way too obsessive towards particular topics, its funny because I’ve been obsessed with 3D modeling and 3D Studio Max for the last three years.

Here’s my chart

Valkie, I have a Uranus cardinal singelton in the 1st, which is part of my air grand trine, as well as a Neptune singelton (only fire planet).

Outer planet singletons aren't that rare, and so I doubt every Uranus singleton represents someone with AS. Plus I have seem quite a few charts of Aspies without Uranus singletons. However, Aspies with Uranus singletons often tend to be more likely genius types, or at least possessing extrtaordinary talents, although not consistantly, in my expeirence (which endows me with a great sense of inferiority at my lack of accomplishments, I confess).

Some famous persons that probably did have AS and have Uranus singletons:

Bela Bartok (Uranus only social planet - Mercury also a singelton): http://www.khaldea.com/charts/belabartok.shtml

Albert Einstein (Uranus only personal planet - he also has Sun and Jupiter singletons): http://www.khaldea.com/charts/einstein.shtml

Rudyard Kipling (Uranus only personal palent - he also had a moon singleton): http://www.khaldea.com/charts/rudyardkipling.shtml

Piet Mondrain (Uranus singelton by conjunction with Jupiter - only soical planets): http://www.khaldea.com/charts/mondrian.shtml

Robert Oppenheimer (Uranus only social planet): http://www.khaldea.com/charts/robertjoppenheimer.shtml

Virginia Woolf (Uranus only social planet - she also has a moon singleton): http://www.khaldea.com/charts/virginawoolf.shtml

Yet there are also several people like Beethoven and Van Gogh, who had very strong AS traits (including a family history that indicates a predisposition towards Asperger's) but don't have Uranus singletons. So I am not that confident that an Uranus singelton alone indicates AS - there seems to be a complexes of traits that could indicate something liek AS andperhaps aspects like a Uranus singleton may simply indicate how something liek AS would manifest.

Wow, I can't believe how many people here claim they have Asperger's! I have always believed that a lot of things like ADD and ADHD are overdiagnosed, and way too easily at that, but that is just my opinion, no offense to anybody who seriously has issues with the disorders.

The reason I say this is that I have a family friend who has Asperger's - full swing. He is unable to write as intelligently as most of you, let alone understand or calculate his birth chart. That's just how come I was a little surprised at the comments here. He is a bit shy, though eager to make friends, and very very creative - loves his computer animation and design and music...but he couldn't write a good letter, or initiate too much conversation - his social skills are naturally somewhat underdeveloped.

He is a Capricorn with Moon in Scorpio, and he is very emotional and VERY serious. He goes through periods of great temper and intensity. But mostly, he is a really sweet person who tries his best to understand the world around him.
