My moon is in the 8th house, but only 1 degree from the cusp of the 9th house. My sun is in the 5th house, but only about 2.5 degrees from my sixth house. I was wondering, in which house would I interpret these planets as being in? Or would the energies mingle?IP: Logged |

One of the greatest astrologers around, Stephen Arroyo, in his book, "Astrology, Karma, and Transformation", writes that any planet located within 4° of a house cusp can be interpreted as belonging to, and concerning itself with the issues of, both houses. ------------------ "My friends, how desperately do we need to be loved and to love. When Christ said that man does not live by bread alone, he spoke of a hunger. This hunger was not the hunger of the body. It was not the hunger for bread. He spoke of a hunger that begins deep down in the very depths of our being. He spoke of a need as vital as breath. He spoke of our hunger for love. Love is something you and i must have. We must have it because our spirit feeds upon it. We must have it because without it we become weak and faint. Without love our self-esteem weakens. Without it our courage fails. Without love we can no longer look out confidently at the world. We turn inward and begin to feed upon our own personalities, and little by little we destroy ourselves. With it we are creative. With it we march tirelessly. With it, and with it alone, we are able to sacrifice for others." - Chief Dan George

What house system are you using? If Placidus, see where the planets fall in Equal House (or vice versa). With planets very close to the cusps I generally like to consult several different house systems. In the case of one's own natal chart, intuition should be able to reveal which placement makes the most sense. My sun-Saturn conjunction hovers on the 11th/12th cusp in Placidus, but falls neatly in the 12th in Equal. There is a world of difference between the life experiences of an 11th house sun and that of a 12th houser. For me there really was no debate over in which house my planetary energies felt most "at home": the 12th. Most resources and experts will consider planets on the cusp as holding influence over the affairs of both houses. Planets within 3 degrees of the next house cusp can usually be interpreted as belonging to that house. I tend to think of the birth chart as a jigsaw puzzle: individual pieces don't paint much of a picture; only once fitted together in a coherent whole does one see and appreciate the importance of every humble part, how they touch, and the intricacies of their connections ... The larger picture of the horoscope will give you some idea of where your luminaries' engergies are being expressed. IP: Logged |
