What is your chart shape?

Mine is the bucket shape, which creates a bridge to the other side and often means a powerful flow of highly concentrated energy.

Bowl shape here, so are all my closest friends. Indicates self-containment & strong will power = symbolized by Virgo and Scorpio.

Mine's definitely a bowl/bundle shape. Everything's in Scorp-Sag-Cap-Pisces. Apparently supposed to be self-contained or something like that.

Mine is a splay. I have planets only in the 1st, 3rd, 6th, 7th and clustered around the MC (both in the 10th and 9th). I have 4 pairs of conjunctions. I have 6 houses empty of planets (unless you count Chiron, which makes only 5).

Thanks for the link Lousianagirl. I was looking through my bookmarks for a good one, but it appears some of my bookmarks are missing.

So are we calling "funnel" charts "bucket" charts now? I was never very clear on that.

Anyhow that desrciption of a splay fits me, except when I'm deprssed, when I'm less motivated and more scattered. I used to think I had a splash, but I have too many empty houses. Also the way my chart expresses itself is very splay-like. Even though my chart has five groups, there's three main "themes" that my chart switches inbetween - Mercurial, Neptunian, and Uranian-Saturnine - depending on how I feel and other influences. That *does* lead me to be actively go in very different directions at different times in my life.

I have a T-Square with Scorpio being my Focal Point, and Aries being my Empty Space. The other two "legs" it's teetering on are Capricorn & Cancer.

ANgel of hope - Discerning chart shapes is a bit touch and go, and depends often on how a chart expresses itself. In some shapes there's a dominant planet that "leads" the chart and if you pinpoint this planet, that often helps discerning the shape when it's not clear.

I would probably first consider your chart a bowl shape, although it doesn't fit the exact criteria (that all planets are in one hemisphere). If this is true , then your Venus would be the dominant planet.

Here's a descript for a bowl chart:
http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/Bowl.htm

If you feel this is incorrect, you may have a a locomative chart, or something in between a bowl and a locamotive (shares a few traits of both):
http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/locomotive.html

However, if Chiron seems usually strong in your life, you more likely have a funnel or bucket chart with Chiron acting as the :handle" or "apex".
http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/funnel.html

As for your sweetie's chart, it;s most liekly a locomative, with his Sun being the lead planet (unless his Chiron is more domiant, which isn't likely seeing it's competeing with his Sun).

I have no idea. How do you find the engine? Is it the first planet you find going counter clockwise from the first house? Or is it the first going clockwise from the 10th, or...?

Eh, Jupiter (10th House) is at one end and Pluto (2nd House) is at the other. I can say that much. Hahah

I don't know what my chart shape is really. It dosen't seem to really fit any of the descriptions. What do you all think? Splash?

1 planet in the 2nd House
3 planets in the 4th House
3 planets in the 5th House
1 planet in the 6th House
1 planet in the 8th House
1 planet in the 11th (Chiron)
1 planet in the 12th

Hexxie, it looks like you have a chart in between a splash and a locamotive chart, with the planet in the 8th as the lead planet.

Nove - that's a funnel chart. See the link I posted for Angel of hope above for funnels.

BTW, with a bowl or locamotive chart, you start in the empty space and the chart and go counterclockwise - the first plaent you come to is the lead planet. If yours was a locamotive chart, it'd be Saturn, but yours is clearly a funnel, because there's a lone planet in one half of the chart, seperated by at least one empty house from the other planets.

Am I the only one witha splay? I feel so alone...
