Hi Everyone...

I've read through so many posts now on this great site. One thing I've noticed is that its human nature to want to think that we are 'helpless' to what is happening to us.

In my own experiences, I think its important to note that almost everything that has happened to me in my life (not to say good or bad- no judgment)...

I HAVE ASKED FOR.

The older I get the more I realize the concept that the ENERGY YOU PUT OUT TO THE WORLD, IS ULTIMATELY THE ENERGY YOU RECEIVE.

The Law of Attraction allows for you to receive all that you want...that is when you are ready and willing to accept that which you want.

When you think you want something and are not receiving it...think again. Subconsciously you are probably not ready. It's time then to get CLEAR.

The process of getting CLEAR for me has been beyond rewarding. To get Clear you have to be honest with yourself. You must live in 100% TRUTH.

Once you get Clear and have a burning deep desire to manifest something in your life... then if you LET GO to a higher power....

your wishes most always will come to you

The reason I thought about this is because I realized through Astrology that I tend to attract certain Signs depending on where I've been at in my life AND what I've been subconsciously trying to attract.

When I was fiercly competitive (selling automobiles) it seemed I was constantly attracting Leos.

When I was looking to be more insightful in my life, needing better guidance to teach me strong lessons it seemed I was attracting Virgos.

When I was looking to gain a better understanding of my own spiritual nature I needed to look no further because Geminis seemed to be coming out of the woodworks...to conversate intellectually in a way I was looking for.

And now, as I get older (and being a firey passionate personality that tended to be more thought oriented than feeling based) I am yearning to develop more compassion and emotion in my soul. Who do I end up attracting? A tender Cancer.

I've found in my experiences in life that you TRULY GET WHAT YOU DESERVE and YOU GET WHAT YOU ASK FOR.

Thoughts are things...what you recognize you realize, what you realize you energize, what you energize you materialize.

Be careful what you think . . . it may just come true.

Yeah, well, I'm a far more pragmatic and skeptical type, and my experience (backed up by my education in psychology, philosiphy and theology) tells me that:

1) people like to project patterns, order and meaning where there actually aren't any

2) never, never underestimate the human ability for self-deception

3) also never underestimate the human ability to subconciously "revise" recollections of how things actually happen, and thus conveniently "tweaking" those recollections so they fit personal biases, desires, presumptions and convictions

4) people are profoundly terrified at the thought that they are relatively very significant in a cosmos that does not revolve around them, and therefore rationalize, justify and bullsh*t every which way two days past Thursday to avoid confronting that reality....and *especially* when it comes to their pain(there's nothing quite as horrific to the human psyche has profound suffering for no reason)

I have a saying: "We rarely get the death we deserve." In essence, no, I don't think we always get what we deserve in this world and I don't think "everything happens for a reason." Do children deserve to be molested and abused? Do homosexuals and transgenders deserved to be obstracized from their communities? Do Rwandians deserve to be massacred? Do Muslim women deserve to be stoned? I can go all day on this one. Rationalize this anyway you wish - it doesn't change that people often suffer for things they do not deserve to have done to them. As humans we've accepted this by our beliefs in things like justice, vengence, laws, prisons, etc. We've developed religions and philosophies that try to add meaning to this phenomena. But these are all in *hindsight* of the fact that people suffer for no apparent, sensible or logical reason. Denying this, in my opinion, is simply a falsehood, and that obstructs one's path to genuine enlightenment (hey, nobody has ever said the path to enlightment was like a ride at Disneyland).

Having said that, I do believe in the power of positive thinking. But I am not pretentious enough to think my happy thoughts change the world to better accomendate me. Rather, I believe that a positive mind is a *better functioning* mind, and therefore more resourceful with what is available and open to opportunities. Anf that is all - and actually, despite our silly human inclinations to think we're big stuff in this cosmos, that's really all we need to get by.

AppleLove,

very insightful post! It's definitely true that our outward attitude tends to attract what is similar to ourselves, depending on what's in our minds at the time. Too bad we don't realize it most of the time!

I agree with this totally. Carl Sagan said that "The universe is neither benign nor hostile, merely indifferent to the concerns of such creatures as ourselves." Each one of us is not a whole lot more than an ant in a large ant colony and well.. ants get stepped on all the time. So it is with humans too, seemingly violent events on the personal level happen to us that are ultimately meaningless as far as the universe is concerned.

But then, realizing that doesn't do an ego any good, so it's no surprise that people choose to remain oblivious to it.

Yes, I do agree with the statements you posted GeminiNymph.

It sounds like there is a point to be made about 'fooling yourself' into believing whatever in the world you want to believe.

A few good points to mention are that:
- We do create our own reality.
- Interpretation is different for each individual.
- Life is Perspective (and the above post was from my own perspective and experiences in my own life)

re: Everything Happening For a Reason- It's whatever interpretation/meaning you bring to that reason.

re: Getting the death you deserve-
We all have our karma *or whatever you want to call it* that we process and go through Individually in this lifetime. My karma is most likely going to be TOTALLY different than a Muslim woman who suffers in a higher level of physical or mental pain.

Yes, true, many suffer from things that they didn't deserve..and yes, for no apparent, sensible or logical reason which no one can deny.

I do find that the times when I resort to being skeptical I'm drowning in more Negative Thought which seems to get me into a downward spiral...attracting Negative outcomes in my own life.

If I turn it around, and begin to think Positive, MY WHOLE WORLD CHANGES FOR WHAT I FEEL THE BETTER...I would rather attract Positive outcomes in my own life than live in a negative state, which just creates more pain & suffering for myself.

Not the world, but YOUR WORLD, the one you have a reasonable amount of 'control' over is whats important in creating more balance, peace and love within yourself, that ultimately you can give back to the world . . . and I just find it usually starts with the Power of a Positive (rather than Negative) Thought.

AppleLove, this is perhaps the best thing I've ever heard anyone say on this board, ever.
I'm getting mightily fed up w/ all the current talk abt. the Grand Cross in xyz Fixed signs and the T-square in this and that sign, and one astrologer saying you will have a great week, and another one saying the opposite.
A positive attitude is half the way there.

HA! You're funny. Thanks AriesTiger...from one Aries woman to another.

Yes, sometimes all the Astro Jargon is way too confusing.

It must be the natural Aries tendency to be Postive

Much Love & Light to you.

here HERE, ariestiger... so well put...

one of the reasons (besides lack of internet) i stopped hanging out in LL was because of the constant dependance on astrology.. for everything....

"which sign is my soulmate"
"look at my chart... should i buy this lipstick?"
"my kid has ADD because of an afficted meterorite in Aquarius"

or, the everpresent ...."lets typecast everybody based on thier sign."

gaaaaaaaaaack

altho those things have seemed to chill a bit on that level.....thank the heavens!
whoops, maybe i shouldnt say that....

hehehe

i agree with GN wholeheartedly. we dont get what we deserve at all. if we work ten times as hard as we should maybe we would get where we want eventually. and yes a lot of other factors are involved realistically. karma is a spiritual thing really...and it doesnt make sense to me. u shud do good for the sake of doing good, because it is morally superior to evil, and not for a return. anyway, it is not as simple as what comes around goes around. personally i have seen people who cheated and did immoral things of all sorts get away with it and live happy successful lives , and died with no regrets. but on the other hand, GN gives the ex. of muslim women and i can relate being one, of the treatment we undergo and despite struggle etc. people dont understand what a deep barrier and oppression there is in SOME places (not all, for ex. i love egypt and lebanon some of the most liberal places in the world). if person A is living in saudi doing the exact same things as person B living in egypt, but person B gets rewarded and is treated right whereas person A is treated like cr@p does that make one morally superior to the other? does A get what she deserves? what kind of messed up conclusion is that? that is exactly the argument used by slave owners and most ethnic supremacists, that other ppl get what they deserve which is subjugation.

also disagree with the statement that once u change ur attitude ur WHOLE WORLD CHANGES TO POSITIVENESS. absolutely not. changing ur attitude only helps u deal on a personal basis with all the hardships life will throw at u, it doesnt change the course of those hardships themselves. ever read candide by voltaire?
