An excerpt from "Principles of Astrology" by Rev. Alice MillerThe Eighth House In the ego program, the eighth house is the no-good or not-mine opposite to my good in the second house. It is something we learn that we should not have or do not own. We do not own it because it is an adult value. The lack of coming-of-age rituals in this society can withhold the eighth house for many years because we do not claim and own them. This is the underlying meaning of the eighth house as transformation. It must be transformed from not-mine, to mine. PLUTO TRANSITING THIS AREA WILL TRANSFORM THE "NOT GOOD" OF CHILDHOOD, TO A PERSONAL GIFT OR POWER FOR ADULT USE. Metaphysically, the eighth is the value/power acquired or derived from relating with equals . . . or the disvalue of unequal marital relationships. It shows how your investment will pay off in power/money or where you will lose funds/energy. This house contains the potential for and of internal spiritual union. This is the potential for accomplishment derived from becoming a conscious channel for spirit, a fusion of body and soul. Anything, in these houses, will, at some level, be transformed--literally because at some point during the incarnation the second-eighth axis will fuse. More accurately, we will realize that it has been fused from the beginning and that we have wasted a great deal of effort in trying to separate it. For as long as we separate life into good and bad, we must live in the world created by our divided value system. The second-eighth polarity is intended to begin the process toward wholeness, from wherever it left off in a prior life, and create further fusions in this life. It is compulsive, but only because it comes out of a passionate commitment of spirit and/or soul. As the judgments in our learned value system are released, as we learn to truly forgive and let go old events and judgments on them, our lives are transformed in powerful ways. The result of ferreting out the secrets of childhood and dealing with them is the retrieval of our personal power. Because LIFE needs us to, and adds its will to ours, they do come out, and we do have the opportunity to release their hold on our lives. The essential life processes are automatic, built into the system. Unless we consciously resist our personal evolution (and some do), we will eventually mature sufficiently to reach the next level. The joy and power of human life is that, at a certain point in our development, we have the option of learning the life principles and consciously using them. In this lies the opportunity for speeding up the process, and for expanding it to include a wider range of experience. Sometimes we make errors in the process and have to go over some areas repeatedly to get our lives the way we want them. Life will not judge us for that. It simply says: It works this way, and when you try to make it work any other way, the going will be difficult and painful. The only hard or difficult lessons in life, are the ones we have chosen to make that way. Always we are intended to learn to live in joy and comfort. We emphasize chosen; what has been chosen can be un-chosen, with no stigma attached.

Since my moon in cancer is ruled by the 8th house I appreciate this Rev. Alice, and I understand how my home has been transformed. I keep buying and renovating homes and furnishings-I take on a lot of discarded items and make these whole again. That makes me happy. The childhood thing is so strong in me, all that I learned has become a gift because I was an adult and now I am becoming a child. Thanks again, Natasha Taurus Sun/6th IP: Logged |
