Could someone please explain to me what each house represents, in simple English. And also, how they relate to your planets in your birthchart? Thanks a million! IP: Logged |

1st House (Aries/Mars) "I", The Self, Ego, appearance 2nd House (Taurus/Venus) Possessions, Values, Work (everyday) 3rd House (Gemini/Mercury) Immediate environment, siblings, neighbours, short trips, communication/expression (everyday) 4th House (Cancer/The Moon) Home, family, the past, mother?, security needs, memory, sometimes called "house of the soul" 5th House (Leo/The Sun) romance/affairs, children, creativity, self-expression 6th House (Virgo/Mercury) work, "service", health, illness, self-denial, sacrifice 7th House (Libra/Venus) Partnerships, contracts, marriage, relating to others, "We" 8th House (Scorpio/Mars/Pluto) sex, death and taxes ->not kidding! All things and questions relating to those three topics. 9th House (Sagittarius/Jupiter) long journeys, philosophy, religion, education 10th House (Capricorn/Saturn) career, place in the world, 11th House (Aquarius/Uranus) friends, communities, organizations 12th House (Pisces/Neptune) This house is called by many names.. House of Self-Undoing.. rules the subconscious mind, the soul? secrets, secret enemies, past lives, all things hidden and vital.. our best and worst, deep within.. our weaknesses and addictions, self-destructive behaviour, delusions.. but also our soul's potential to overcome all, where the "I" dissolves.. not into "we" but into the collective I/we paradox hope that helps!

In terms of how the houses and planets interact:The house placement of the planet reveals in what area of your life that planet's energy is being expressed. Also, the placement of the planet can modify its energy. For example.. Venus(love-nature) in Scorpio(deep,possessive,passionate).. Let's say it's in the 3rd house- ruled by Gemini/Mercury and dealing with what I listed above.. what would this mean? It's easiest to break it down into steps. Venus (in any sign) in the 3rd house would add beauty and grace to the person's style of expression. They probably speak or write very beautifully. But- it's a two-way street- the planet influences the house and the house influences the planet. So.. Venus (love-nature) in the 3rd house (communication) would also mean that the person finds communication and mental stimulation important in love. They probably have a great need for excellent communication with the partner. Another thing that can happen is that the house placement can change the planet/sign energy slightly. Having Venus in Scorpio in the 8th house (which is ruled by Scorpio and is a very "intense" house) would heighten the Scorpio placement of the Venus. But being in a house ruled by an air sign would make this Venus in Scorpio person a little more light-hearted in love, a little more like somebody with Venus in Gemini. Just a little bit. It's interesting to observe these influences in people. IP: Logged |

Planets placed in the cardinal houses, especially the first, will dominate the expression of that point.Uranus in the first may seem very Aquarian, Sun in the first may seem vey Leo like, Mars in the first may seem very Aries like, etc. Same deal if in the 4th, 10th, or 7th house. much more to say, but lap-top is awkward IP: Logged |

Yang, I thought the 12th house ruled by Pisces represents sacrifice.Does that mean Virgos make sacred sacrifices as well?. IP: Logged |
