What makes you family oriented? Any planet in Cancer or 4th house? IP: Logged |

lady,Cancer, Moon, and 4th house all have to do with "home" or "family", so the more energy and focus in these areas the stronger the interest in "family" is. Hi Tim, I have a question. What would make one prefer extended family over immediate? I know thats a weird question and may be difficult to trace astrologically. But my father was very much like this, preferring his extended family over immediate, and I know a few other people as well. (My father was a Scorp sun/Gem moon). Love SG IP: Logged |

I don't care for family much. We're not close, and I don't really wish we were. I don't generally get along very well with my extended family, either...I have three planets in the 4th House though... Then again, they're Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn (All in Capricorn, too), so maybe that's why. IP: Logged |

I have no Cancer in my chart and only Mercury in my 4th and I like my family. I'm not self-sacrificing for my extended fam, though (and by "extended" I mean my father) - that is, I won't sacrifice my own sanity for contact with him IP: Logged |

I have no cancer anywhere in my chart, but I've got an Air Mars in Aqua singleton in my 4th house. My family annoys the HELL out of me sometimes, but I can't help but brag about them. It's like I die to get away from them but once I'm gone, it doesn't matter cuz I take them with me. IP: Logged |

Cancer rising and north node in Cancer.I am family oriented. I notice taureans or taurean influenced people can be also. Never met one scorpio that wasn't fmaily oriented either.
The cappies I know are also family oriented and sags. My sister and mother jhowever can really get on my nerves. ------------------ Gemini sun, Cancer rising, mercury in Gemini, moon in Taurus *29, venus in Taurus, mars in Libra

Secret,You asked: quote: What would make one prefer extended family over immediate?...my father was very much like this...
When I think of "close but not TOO close" I think of Aquarius, Uranus, and 11th house (all are about friends). It might be the case with your father that he liked the "closeness" of his extended family but that the family directly around him was a little "too close for comfort"! Or it could be that he had challenging synastry with all the people in his family. As you mention, this is difficult to trace astrologically without knowing the chart details. Guessing, Tim IP: Logged |

Great Guess I have both Uranus and Venus in the 11th, and this rings true for me. I am very, very distant from my family of origin w the exception of my siblings (moon on the 3rd house cusp). I am very protective of my sisters they are my best friends. My parents and I are not close, although this has improved slightly in the last few years. I would rather spend time with my friends than my family (Aunts, Cousins, Grandparents, etc). For this reason, I am often seen as the oddball since my family is very united. All that closeness gives me a case of claustrophobia. I like my family well enough, I just don't like being expected to go to their numerous family gatherings. Ironically, I love visiting my soon to be in laws

My ascendant is cancer. Other than that I have no planets in the 4th house or cancer. As with everyone else in my immediate and extended family, I'm emotionally close to them and we all help each other out (but I think this can be more attributed to culture), but physically and psychologically, I can spend years without them and still be happy, I really am a maverick. I don't plan on raising a family when I grow up.IP: Logged |

Even though I have a Gemini sun I have no Aqua planets and Aqua rules my third house. My 4th house is inhabited by my Moon and my Mars. LOL. I would pretty much lie on a woodsy pyre for some members of my family...and maybe, maybe punch someone --Mars and Moon in Aries, 4th house. The whole "nest" thing is a big deal to me and the home must be oasis #1, pretty and pleasant (Libra MC/Venus Taurus 5). IP: Logged | |
