Just wanted to share

quote:
...One of the most dominant questions I get asked during reading – what is my sense of purpose, what about my soul, my spiritual direction?

Let’s look at 2 words – soul and spirit. How to distinguish between them? Everyone has their own definition. Thomas Moore’s (author of Care of the Soul) describes soul as that which seeks lowly places. He defines spiritual as the spirit that seeks to rise. Spiritual is to transcend the personal, soul
is to get down in the personal, emotions, etc. He would say the soul tends to be melancholy.

Our culture doesn’t understand the soul. If the Mind = Air, Body = Earth, Spirit = Fire, then Soul = Emotions = Water. For people with lots of water in their chart – you can help them by redefining emotional states. Instead of saying you are “up or down” emotionally you can say “inward or outward.” Our culture has a bias against emotions, against being introspective or inward, and towards earthly doing. Even astrology programs do aspects to the M.C. and not the I.C.

Spiritual Houses

Water signs and water houses are very important. The 4th house is what is beneath our feet – home, roots, personal mythology, ancestors, where you live on the earth. The 4th house shows intimacy with oneself (intimacy with a partner is the 8th house, intimacy with God is the 12th house). The sign on the cusp will describe your attitude and what kind of environment you need to retreat to – your sanctuary...

The fire houses (1, 5, and 9), and, to a lesser extent, the fire signs, are important. Emphasis on the water houses and signs is common in the charts of psychics, occultists, and mystics, but the fire houses tend to be heavily populatred in the charts of spiritual leaders, yogis, gurus, etc.

Peri and Heart-shaped Cross, Thanks for the lesson!

I drew red flames around the 1,5,and 9 on my chart, sparkling blue waves around the 4,8, and 12 house numbers and used Gold and Silver for earth and air. Now I will be able to memorize them and reference them easily.

Peri ~

So what would you say about these particular aspects in terms of 12th house:

12th house is ruled by Saturn, although 95% of the person's 12th house is in Aquarius, which is intercepted. The 12th house is empty.

Saturn is in Gemini AND conjunct the IC AND in retrograde AND is a singleton (since it is the only planet in the northern/lower half of the chart.

How would this manifest in terms of being the house of God or connection to God do you think??

Can you tell me if you see any indicators of the spiritual connection to God in my grandson's chart? The reason that I'm asking is even though he hasn't steadily been in church or organized religion, if someone is sick or feeling bad he will pick up on it and pray for healing of the person believing that he can take it off of the afflicted person and put it onto himself. Thanks!

Thanks augentier, I knew that the Pisces ascendant would be a factor, but I thought perhaps there may be something in addition to that.

Saturn tests us, so that's also Spiritual.

I would LOVE to hear about intimacy with God in the 12th house!

My water placements:

Jupiter, Pisces, 4th
moon, Cancer, 8th
Venus, Scorpio, 12th
Pluto, Scorpio, 12th

I've also read that the sign of Sagittarius is also connected to spirituality/philosophy/higher learning. I have a Sag ascendant and Uranus and Saturn in Sag, 1st house. Just curious to know what others think about that, if anyone has any input.

Many thanks if anyone replies and thanks to the original poster for this insight!

The 12th is the house of self-undoing, prisons and institutions.

Occult type practices are the 8th.

Religion is the 9th.

I have heard Jupiter aspecting Neptune is a good one, probably because of the 9th/12th house connection. I have Jupiter trine Neptune exact and every description goes on about idealism and spirituality. I haven ‘t really found this in myself yet but I am always seeking so that can be a part of it.

Planets in the 9th or 12th or Sagittarius and Pisces ruled houses can probably be indicators.

BINGO! I can relate and agree to this as I have Jupiter Conjunct Neptune - in saggy though in the 6th house....This aspect or what you say Jupiter/neptune in aspect to each other does bring out a spiritual quality.

I agree. Jupiter enhances what it touches.

"Life is like a box of crayons. Most people are the 8-color boxes, but what you're really looking for are the 64-color boxes with the sharpeners on the back. I fancy myself to be a 64-color box, though I've got a few missing. It's okay though, because I've got some more vibrant colors like periwinkle at my disposal. I have a bit of a problem though in that I can only meet the 8-color boxes. Does anyone else have that problem? I mean there are so many different colors of life, of feeling, of articulation...so when I meet someone who's an 8-color type...I'm like, 'hey girl, magenta!' and she's like, 'oh, you mean purple!' and she goes off on her purple thing, and I'm like, 'no - I want magenta!'"
