Ok, people!

I have often wondered what aspects in the chart generate sparks. What makes a person's energy dominate a room? Have you ever been told that you "light up the room?" Ever experience this when with someone else?

What aspects indicate an ability to have a way with words? Public speaking? Attention seeking? Or maybe just a simple way with people; a kind of instant likability?

I am thinking Leo for obvious reasons, as well as a Venus, Mars in 1st or aspecting the ascendant.

Planets, especially the Sun, or Mars in the fifth, and even the Moon for their dramatic approaches.

Anyone else have any insights??

Yes I do understand that, I have been told that my presence is strong and very attracting and I do know that. My Sun and Merc is in the 1st house. My sun in Pisces and Merc in Aqua. So that may explain it a lil bit...

Two friends jump to my mind when cinsidering the 'it' factor. Loz & Mikey are such dynamic people, they both have a commanding presence, but both use it in a sybtle way - except when humour is concerned, they have everyone in tears of laughter when they decided to use sarcasm or irony to sharpen their wits, funniest people I know, I even smile thinking about the now. Women find them mysteriously attractive also, there is just something 'beneathe their surface', something the eye can't quite focus on that makes their company so appealing.

I believe oppositions in a natal chart can create the 'it' factor. Oppositions can make a person seem to have 'extra dimensions' to their personality. Looking at the two charts of my friends, Mikey has a very strong Sun-Jupiter opposition, and he is the most comedic person Ive ever met, such a happy go lucky-light-up-the-room guy. And Loz has his Merc/Venus/Mars all in opposition to his Moon and Pluto, its the defining part of his chart.

Mamamia, I'm rapidly becoming convinced that people with Aqua Mercurys are very smart, very funny, witty and original.
I LOVE that merc position
Mercury should be exhalted in that sign, dammit.

Hmm, interesting.
So if oppositions make for noticeable presence, what does Moon-Venus and Moon-Mars tell you?

Nope. I have the opposite. I generally can generally sneak around anywhere without even trying. I have a harder time getting people to actually notice me.

This is such an interesting topic for me, since I know many people who OTHERS are infatuated with, but I am not.

Or, sometimes others compliment me, and I am like: Are you kidding??

For instance, my Gemini friend recently told me that I have an "aura" that "draws people in"

I have no clue what she is talking about, but I do see it in other people. (there's that Capricornian " aww shucks me?? no! " thing)

If it is noticable that people with oppositions are more inclined to stand out, what does anyone make of Moon opp. Saturn?

I would say that Sun Conjunct Venus would definately make one a "star" of social parties Stargazer.

I feel your pain. This is why I am always pushing myself to be vocal and share opinions, especially in classes. If I don't I am afraid I'll be perceived as a wallflower-and I learned in the early years of highschool, how being percieved as a wallflower could really bring down ones self esteem.

I am sure you are noticed more than you know!

gemini,

Mars (being, also action) and Neptune (spirituality, also idealization) in aspect to each other indicates personal charisma.

Charismatically,

Tim

Haha. Well. I'm pretty vocal. And out there. But I still manage to get around unnoticed. Sometimes I love it, because I can be pretty moody and don't always want to talk. Other times, I struggle with it, because I really want someone to talk to me, and they won't. I feel really stupid and annoying just going up to people and talking. Kind of like "What's the point? I don't actually have anything I could say to carry on a conversation..."

Nove,

You said:

I've had the same problem but I discovered something...just get the person talking about something THEY are interested in. And keep asking them questions about it! Pretty soon they will be doing all the talking and all you will have to do is nod and say, "Really!"

Giving an easy way to relate,

Tim

Tim- great tip! I use that one all the time.
Haha.. but it makes me remember the few times when it didn't work- when the other person catches on and they get suspicious. "I'm not answering that question until you tell me something about yourself"- usually a Scorpio will respond that way. I love it.

Haha, that's not what I meant. I meant like...I don't really have a reason to talk to them. There's no actual need to.

So I feel dumb.

I'm gonna guess that's my Virgo Rising at work.

i dunno if i got the "IT" but i sure got some sort of "sh " factor, lol. since i was 10, i got all these negative attention from gurls, they wanna fight me, they just hate me or something...so when i grew up i tried to go extra miles to please the gurls for friendships. So to counterpart my "problems" i treat guys like fools but they stick around, and i always get picked up by strangers, of course i dont meet ppl dat way. I would say some guys get insecure when they take me out...so i dont like too much attention sometimes, cuz "IT" work against me..but most of time, i enjoy the limelight.

Oppositions could definately be very charismatic, but we have to look at WHERE they are in the chart. A 1st - 7th house opp. would definately qualify. A 10th-4th house opp. would probably qualify. What about a 6th-12 opp? Not so much. Or a 2nd-8th. Nah, not really externally active.

Also, an opposition to Saturn can be very debilitating to a personal planet, thus snuffing the light somewhat.

Point is, all things in context, folks.

I think I'm the self-appointed generalization cop around here. -sorry, just trying to keep it real.

Everytime someone presents what they think may be a specific "rule of thumb" that they've discovered about any given astro feature, I feel compelled to halt it and say - WAIT, let's be carefull about those blanket statements. They're dangerous and unenlightening to the narrow-minded folks. (you know who you are). People who are so ready to pin a rose on your nose and call you stinky behind your back. Ya know?

As for "it" factor....that I've noticed. Good-looking people who've had well adjusted and loving families. They radiate charisma. Charisma, seems to be an undefinable element of all we wish we were, or all we wish we had. This is not sign specific, but some signs are better at making lemonade, if you know what I mean. Scorpio, Aquarius, Leo, Aries...come to mind off the cuff.
