I work in a Casino and can honestly tell you that the only people who win are those that don't play.

gaming is ruled by the 5th house.

But you always see gambling and speculation in Sag interpretations.

The planet Jupiter rules gambling in astrology, thus the connection with Sagittarius. With Jupiter being my chart ruler and making quite a few aspects in the chart, I've come across lots of interpretations that mentioned gambling.
Unfortunately I can't contribute anything from personal experience. However, my guess would be (and I think I've also come across this statement somewhere) that the danger of becoming addicted to gambling might be increased if Jupiter is (heavily) afflicted in the natal chart.

Another guess is that an afflicted Neptune may also play a role, since the excitement that gambling provides, if taken to an extreme, could probably be viewed as a kind of "escapist" activity (escaping from the drudgery of an everyday existence otherwise perceived as boring, for example) not unlike the substance addiction Neptune is more commonly associated with.

i agree with jupiter's famed association with gambling and also that of leo and 5th house. in indian astrology if jupiter is in leo and in 5th, the person is believed to be super-lucky in gambling.

but i disagree with gamblings association with sagittarius. lets not forget planets rules a sign doesnot mean the sign acquires all of the planets characteristics. in one source i read that sagittarians when gamble may have some initial luck but jupiter never lets them take advantage of that and often loose later. i have experiences it myself time and again. thankfully in friendly sittings with family during holidays with small amount of money being involved.

Gambling Astrology

Gambling astrology is a methodology to help you determine the best time to take a risk. This doesn't necessarily mean you'll be a winner every time, but you could increase your odds somewhat.

Planetary transits and alignments are key in gambling astrology. This area is ruled by the Fifth House, which is the House of Speculation. Those who look to take risks want to be influenced by this House. Another strong influence are the Fire Signs (Aries, Leo and Sagittarius), as they are quite risk-friendly. If you have the fire element strongly in your chart, you could hold a winning hand. Conversely, the EarthSigns (Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn) are the most risk-averse as they speak to hard work and keeping one's money. Take no chances if these signs are hanging around!

If Jupiter, the Planet of Expansion, Luck and Good Fortune, is transiting your Fifth House, it's definitely the time to take a risk. Depending on their alignment, other Planets can exert influences which should be monitored if you are thinking of taking a risk. Mars is the Planet of easy come, easy go, so be prepared if it's in your chart. Saturn won't yield great rewards, but it will allow you to stay in the game for awhile. Where Uranus is concerned, what you should expect is the unexpected. Neptune is associated with wild speculation, while plucky Pluto symbolizes the biggest crapshoot of them all!

With odds like this, gambling may not pay off in the end. It's your bet to make.

Hello!-

My father has Neptune in the 5th- and he likes to gamble a lot. He controls it, though. But what happens to him is that he dreams about numbers or "feels" when it's time to play. However, he hasn't been that lucky!!- LOL

My mother has Jupiter in the 5th- and she enjoys gambling too, but almost never does it!!-

Yeah, Sagittarius is a big gambler. My Sag girlfriend has to actively restrain herself from gambling. My Sagittarius guy friends are hooked on internet poker and each has lost several hundreds of dollars, hasn't stopped, and will likely lose hundreds more.
