Being an Aqua Sun with Venus in Aquarius- I've always been baffled and even frustrated by my distinctly un-Aquarian emotions- especially when it comes to romance.
But upon analysis, I've discovered an interesting pattern and wanted to share it with others to see if it can be generalized to suit most people.

Dramatis Personae (Cast of Characters)
Moon (in my case, Leo)
Venus (in my case, Aquarius)
Mars (in my case, Scorpio)

The setting: A Romance-to-Be

Other than the obvious first-impression behaviour brought on by Libra rising, the first of the three main players that shows is Venus- if I am interested in the person from the beginning; Aloof, casual, friendly.
If I am under the influence of various substances- Mars will show first, however;
Overtly sexual and flirtatious, with nothing getting in between me and my object of desire. Also, if I am not really interested in the person (or interested only in the way they look) but sort of exploring the territory- Mars, again.
The deeper it gets into the relationship, the more the Moon takes over, followed by Mars, again. Leo&Scorpio in combination mean-
obsessiveness, devotion, drama, romance, passion, jealousy- all the usual.
Aquarius placements seem to come in only if I've been hurt by the person. I'll just leave. No revenge, no communication, no sweet last goodbye, Leo (movie scene) style. Like Linda says- fighting with a hat- putting it on and leaving forever. And in general, I'm Aquarian once the romance is finally over. I can disappear for a long time and occasionally return years later to see if we can be friends. As if we never had crazy sex together.

but- I think the Aquarius placements also begin to show if the relationship goes on for a long time (which happens somewhat rarely in my life); when I'm REALLY comfortable.

I have a theory about this pattern of behaviour. I think of the moon and Mars as very "primal" planets- almost our most childlish, in a sense. So- perhaps we display the qualities of the signs they are in when we are most vulnerable- returning to long-ago established patterns of behaviour and emotional response; running on instinct, in a sense. And isn't a new romance one of the most vulnerable situations to be in?

Anyways- just wondering about your Moon, Venus & Mars and how they come into the picture in your love lives. Do share!

Moon: Aquarius
Venus: Pisces
Mars: Scorpio

My Venus routinely falls -- and HARD -- for wounded birds. My Moon just as routinely tries to talk Venus out of it.

Meanwhile, my Mars is sitting back, clipping his nails or whatever, until Luna finally says, "yeah, okay, maybe," whereupon Mars jumps up and moves in with a vengeance.

I like your theory whiterabbit. The Moon and Mars being so primal, and perhaps significant of the behaviors we resort back to (regress?) when tangled in a symbiotic romance.

My Moon is in Cancer in the 3rd. It's usually at the surface from the very start, but in my eyes. It's sort of like, "my Moon is right here in front of you ... do you notice it?" - and if it's noticed, then it's on. It might be guarded by my Mars in Scorpio in the 6th, if I feel the other person is not sure. But I give my Moon a fair chance by keeping my sensitive and empathetic feelers on high volume regardless.

If I'm the one who starts to reach out more, it's probably my Venus in Virgo in the 4th, but it's not assertive. I can sort of be assertive like a clown with my Sun in the 5th, but it's not intended to be an invitation for romance. Whoever picks up on THAT instead will almost always be disappointed. It's the more subtle "notice me" vibes I'd rather someone pick up on.

If there's chemistry and we start hanging out more, my Moon shows more, and if I start to feel like I'm falling in love, my Venus in the 4th comes out full throttle. If the other person is comfortable with that, then it starts to feel cozy and I'm at the complete mercy of destiny.

If they pull back, my Moon & Mars work in conjunction to reassess what my Venus became a sucker for.
