Hi everyone,

I'm sure this has been posted numerous times, but my ability to search the data base always crashes my computer!!
Anyway, I am going through a rather intense saturn return right now, and am wanting to know how others have coped, managed etc. I find part of it funny, astrologically I know what is happening, but emotionally, phsyically and spiritually I am still struggling to cope and make it through.
I have a rather strong saturn (chart ruler) which is involved in a grand trine and tee square.
My saturn is in Leo and in 7th house (equal)/8th house Placidies.
Thanks in advance

Hi Ausra,

Pleased to meet another person with the Big Blue Teacher looming large in their chart!

I'm around that Return time too, and find these things helpful:

*Thinking about all the different routes my life has taken, and *could* take, and mentally preparing myself.

*Realising that it isn't really about 'right' and 'wrong' decisions so much as the different challenges and opportunities that arise from each one.

*Finally, remember there's a balance:
If things aren't so great now, they'll most certainly pick up. It's like when you have flu, then feel really brilliantly hyperactive for about a week afterwards!

And that's what Saturn's about really...good things are sure to come your way after you've weathered the hardship!

(You've got to love old Saturn, really, despite the bad rap he gets..... was instantly my favourite planet from the very first time i saw a picture of him with that cool ring )

Hey Ausra! I'm goin through my Saturn return also (in my 2nd house). I use the Placidus system so here are a few quotes:

bobmarksastrologer.com~

quote:
Saturn Transits Through Your Eighth House: Less sex and more taxes. Well, not necessarily. Sex may simply become more important to you. If you previously did a lot of one night stands, they may seem empty now. You are more likely to want something deeper. However, if there are any sexual dysfunctions, they will tend to flare up during this Saturn transit, and you will be forced to deal with them. Remember that Saturn doesn’t cause trouble. All it does is bring it to the surface. Saturn going through your 8th House doesn’t have to indicate anything world shaking. It could be that you suddenly feel the need for more control in sex and you start reading books on the subject. Ok. But please note, you can’t learn everything from books. If you inherit any money or possessions at this time, there will tend to be extra difficulties. Maybe someone disputes the will and there is a legal battle. Or the property you inherit is difficult to deal with in some way. For instance, it may be a house that you can’t sell easily and the taxes are coming due. The 8th House rules other people’s money in general. If you need a line of credit, it could be more difficult to get it at this time. Don’t wait for Saturn to hit you before taking action. Look ahead. See where it is going to be. Then make plans long before it gets there. Saturn transiting your 2nd House can affect your money. Saturn moving through your 8th House can affect partner’s money. Your partner’s income may drop and that can still affect you. As always with Saturn, make plans before it hits you.

quote:
How do you handle power? Your desire nature? Intimate relationships? What kind of obsessions and addictions do you have? What are your deep-rooted compulsions? What are your unhealthy attachments? When Saturn transits our eighth house, we feel pressure to answer these questions. Often, at the beginning of the transit, we are very sensitive to what seems like outer world pressures that force us to examine some of our deepest desires and attachments. These include our sexual relationships, our finances (especially with regards to debts and shared finances), and our need for control. Sometimes, Saturn transiting the eighth brings about sexual dysfunctions, whether we encounter these in ourselves or in our partners. We may face difficulties satisfying our libido and/or encounter problems with intimacy. These pressures are "designed" to make us more aware of our desire nature, and what exactly it is we want. Dissatisfaction and frustrations getting what we want, especially with reference to relationships with others and with our resources, often characterize the first part of the transit. How have we been using power? During this transit, we may find that previous methods of controlling our environment and the people in our lives simply are not effective any more. We may not even be aware just how we have been employing power and control to date. Another realm over which the eighth house reigns is our mortality. With Saturn here, we become much more aware of our mortality. Just as Saturn transits to our Sun or Ascendant make us more conscious of our age, Saturn transiting the eighth house often brings with it a realization that we do not live forever. Of course, we know this as a fact at the back of our minds, but Saturn reminds us. Before this transit, it is generally wise to begin organizing one's finances. If we don't, Saturn will most likely find ways to force us to do just that. On a psychological level, we face some of our fears that are of a compulsive nature—those fears that lead us to believe we need certain things in order to survive. Take a small example of a superstition. Perhaps we perform some kind of small ritual that we feel will help protect us or give us good luck. If we do it often enough, it becomes an addiction. We are afraid that if we don't do this little ritual, we will set ourselves up for bad luck. If we get rid of this superstition, we feel strong. Something as simple as a superstition or ritual for good luck can undermine us. Why? Because we are giving away our power over ourselves to this compulsive behavior! We are denying that we have power over our own lives. The same is true of any form of compulsive behavior and addiction. We attempt to control our lives through these behaviors, but what we are really doing is letting the addictions control us. Towards the end of the transit, we will have eliminated some deep-seated habits and attachments that have been keeping us back from feeling emotionally free. We emerge healthier and stronger. When we give in to compulsive behaviors, we give up self-control, and guilt undermines our lives. We are not ourselves. By attempting to control others, we give away our own power over ourselves. By the end of this transit, we will feel more emotionally healthy. We will have nixed some of our addictions, and mastered our superstitions. We will feel more powerful because we have given up attempting to control things we cannot or should not control, and we will have gained a feeling of self-mastery instead.

quote:
About every thirty years, the taskmaster Saturn (a.k.a. the Lord of Karma) visits you. This year he is paying a call to our Leo friends, those born July 23 - August 22. He will knock on their door July 17th and enjoy an extended stay until September 2007. Are you ready to let him in? Will he be a welcome visitor or the house guest from hell? You better get used to him because Saturn is here to stay...for a while anyway. But what does matter is how you prepare for his arrival and stay. It can be very unpleasant or the most amazing two years you’ve ever had.

Saturn is a teacher. He challenges us to do more with our lives. He tests us to make us stronger. Saturn’s lesson for every one may be different, it all depends on what your soul needs to learn. Usually you are given three tests over the course of the two years he visits. The first test is kind of an introduction to the problem or issue you are supposed to deal with. By the time the second test is given, you should come up with a game plan and be prepared to take action. If you have not resolved an issue, learned a karmic lesson or changed something in your life that needs changing, the third test is very difficult. You could feel overwhelmed. But Saturn is not a heavy handed, bad guy. He will reward you greatly for a job well done and lessons learned. If you meet each test and challenge that comes, there are wonderful benefits at the end of this cycle.

Most of the time, we hang onto things that are no longer necessary in our life; perhaps a dead end job, a bad marriage, a poor self esteem and the like. Saturn wants to help you get rid of what is holding back to make room for better things in your life. I remember counseling a Pisces woman years ago when Saturn was in her sign. I told her of the opportunities for growth with Saturn. Growth, that is, if she were willing to make changes in her life. I also counseled her on the downside of Saturn; if she wasn’t willing to make changes, life could be a roller coaster ride for over two years. She contacted me years later to thank me for counseling her how to deal with Saturn. She said the last few years were the best of her life! She learned so much and was able to become a better and more spiritual person.

Saturn in Leo will affect all of us in some way. No matter what sign you are, you will learn a lesson pertinent to the area of your astrological chart that Leo falls in. Because many of my readers may not know a lot about astrology and even what their rising sign is, I have compiled a list of how Saturn will affect every sun sign. If you do know your rising sign, please read that too.

Aries - Saturn wants to teach you about responsibility to children. Some of you may get pregnant this year. Others who have children may be spending a great deal of time and energy on them. Love affairs will also be highlighted. You will learn a great deal about affairs of the heart. New relationships may enter your life to help teach you these lessons. You will feel as if there is no time for fun. So your lesson is to do more of a balancing act between work and play. Safeguard investments. This is not a time to gamble or take unnecessary risks with money.

Taurus - You will be learning a great deal about your home and family. Many of you may want to move or put down roots. For others, it will be a time of responsibility to your family. There may be concern for an older parent or the need to take care of a child. On a spiritual level, this is a time to heal old family wounds and the inner child. Family First will be the motto. However, you may feel torn between career demands and your spouse and kids. So you will have to do a balancing act and change you schedule so you have the ability to spend quality time with those you love.

Gemini - The way you think and communicate is changing a great deal. You will look at life quite differently as your viewpoint changes. There will be a serious tone to your personality. You will learn to be responsible for the things you say and how you say them. Contracts and negotiations will be important. You may have some car trouble. Disagreements and sibling rivalry could also come up but give you the opportunity to grow closer to brothers and sisters as well.

Cancer - You will learn how to squeeze a dollar out of dime, how to do more with less and that money isn’t everything. This is a time in your life in which you will come to understand security isn’t about money, but it comes from within. Some of you may be making large purchases like a home or buying a business. You will be very tenacious about paying off debt and learning how the Law of Prosperity works.

Leo - With Saturn on your sun sign, you will be called to make changes in just about every area of your life that needs fixin’ Do not be afraid because the universe wants to bring you everything your deserve. If you have laid good foundations and karma, this period could be a time of great reward. However, if you still have lessons, now is the time you learn them and become a bigger person because of it. Look at this period as a blessing...a time to make your life all that it can be. If you allow changes to happen, things go well. If you fight them, there will be more challenges to overcome. Let go and let be!

Virgo - During this period you will be able to let go of many subconscious old wounds, fears and issues that you have repressed for years. This is a great time of healing. Some of the issues you may not want to relive or face, but you have no choice, as they are bubbling to the top of the surface and it is time to deal with them. Once this period is over, you will feel like a new person and as if nothing will ever hold you back. People from your past may waltz back into your life that you need to make amends with or they, you. This is a healing karmic time. Embrace it.

Libra - You discover the true meaning of friendship during this cycle. There may be negative relationships dissolving and positive ones taking their place. This is the time you recognize who your true friends are! It is also very likely you will be working within a group situation where your diplomatic nature will come in very handy. Some Libra will be placed in new work situations that involve working with many people on a project or goal. The lesson is to learn to work with different personally types and through their differences.

Scorpio - Saturn will actually be a major blessing in your life now, especially if you have worked hard the past fourteen years and laid a solid foundation with your career. Now is the time for the big reward. You may find your dream job. It is likely that Scorpio will be given more responsibility than ever. You will have to prove yourself worthy of getting the position and then work hard for the time Saturn is in Leo and then you may rest on your laurels. Don’t you feel as if you are on the verge of a major change with your career? I know you do. It’s almost here!

Sagittarius - These next two years will be a period of great enlightenment. Your beliefs, convictions, ideas and even religion may change. You are seeking a higher truth to your everyday existence and just may find it. For some of you, more education is needed to further your career which will reach peak in late 2007 - 2009. Now is the time to take classes and update your knowledge as much as you can. At work, your reputation may be challenged but if you have laid good karma in the past, there is nothing to worry about. Changes with authority figures, bosses and older relatives may be a source of concern now, but your biggest lesson is spiritual growth.

Capricorn - Other people’s money, joint resources and money owed to you, will be part of the big Saturn lesson for you This is a period in which you will not to be able to depend on other outside sources of income as much. So plan ahead. For example if you own rental property, the renters may move out. Your mate may be unemployed for a while. You will learn to depend on yourself and your own ability to make money. Also this is time you are being called on to pay off debts, maybe financial and karmic. Therefore this period should be looked at in a positive way to settle any scores and make things right.

Aquarius - Saturn will teach you about relationships both romantic and professional. In fact, relationships of all kinds will be tested. The strong ones will weather the storms and become stronger than ever before. The weak ones, may end. Your needs are changing too in regards to love. What you needed a mere six month ago or six years ago has changed. People in your life need to accept these changes as they are now a prominent part of who you are. If single, you could meet someone very special during this cycle that you will want to make a commitment with, possibly your soul mate. If attached, the union will face some tough challenges to determine if it can stand the test of time.

Pisces - This is one of your biggest weight loss cycles! If you have been working hard at losing weight, Saturn will help you and give you the discipline you need. This is also a time to get all of the little tasks and projects done that you’ve put off. If you have health problems crop up, now would be the time to work on fixing them. You will also be learning how to find a neutral ground among coworkers. There may be more work placed on your desk than others. But don’t be discouraged because the hard work you do during this Saturn transit will not go unnoticed by late 2007.

I mentioned earlier in the article about preparing for Saturn’s visit. Now that you know what lessons you may be asked to learn, what should you do in preparation. Simplify your life. Remove any negativity and get rid of any irritations or potential problems now. You have the power of free will to create any kind of life your heart desires. Saturn will give your discipline to work hard at achieving goals and then reward you!

`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'

Thank you FT - yes I like Saturn, I know I am paying for 7years of going off the rails somewhat!!! I didn't realise how much, but then that's why I am struggling.

I love the rings too - it's kind of a physical representation of everything you do affects things around you, and the 'pulling' power we all have.

Hexxie - thanks for the read. Very accurate. Everything got really intense once I quit smoking. I realise know that I had been using smoking to cover up my own insecurities, so off course they have come back and knocked me out cold!!!

The partnership thing has also been rather interesting, as I believe I am in a strongly karmic relationship. My partner - Leo his sun is conjuct my Saturn (fun right now!!! or maybe real intense to put it mildly) and actually his Saturn (in Cappy) squares my sun.
So everything at the moment is coloured by Saturn, which I know will ultimately be a good thing. Just hard when you are right in the middle of the tunnel as is your partner, so you can neither see the path from where you came or see the path the future brings.

'Tis me at the mo
Contemplation of the meaning of our existence, our accomplishments, and our "failures" is the main focus when Saturn transits our twelfth house. This transit marks the end of a cycle, which can most certainly bring with it a fair measure of confusion and discontent, especially at the beginning of the period. Saturn turns a critical eye to all that lies beneath the surface, and we are forced to do some serious "spring cleaning" of our psyches. During this transit, we face our own demons—the vague yet haunting fears that undermine us. We all have skeletons in our closet. What we don't always realize is that they can seriously undermine our happiness and well-being. Saturn sweeps through our "closet" (the twelfth house) and demands that we take a hard look at what's been hiding in there. Is this process uncomfortable? For most of us, it can be. But getting rid of outdated attachments, and examining and discarding irrational fears, is not only necessary for further growth and development—it's ultimately a huge relief. The twelfth house in some ways is a dumping ground for things we have left "undone". Saturn here wants us to sort through the junk and keep only those things that we truly need for future development. This process can be rather lengthy and it can feel very slow, but if done properly, it can be most rewarding. We deal with endings rather than new beginnings during this transit, as we shed outdated attachments and unconsciously prepare ourselves for Saturn's transit of the first house, when we will work diligently on our individuality and personal identity. We are markedly introspective at this time in our lives. We may isolate ourselves from others in some manner—a process that tends to come naturally. Health issues, generally of a psychosomatic nature, may come to the fore. We may be attracted to alternate ways of living, and to self-study fields, such as psychoanalysis.

Will be me very soon;

Saturn transiting the first house begins with a Saturn conjunction to the Ascendant, a transit of personal significance. The first house is a fire house, a house that rules our personal identity. We concern ourselves with how we come across to others on a personal level with Saturn here. Our physical body becomes a focus as well. Depending on the age of the native, it may be a time when we feel our age, or it is a time when we see our bodies quite clearly. This is an excellent time for beginning health regimens, diets, and the like, simply because it is a time when we look in the mirror and see ourselves clearly—not what we want to see. Our outlook on life changes to a more serious, responsible tone. In the beginning stages of the transit, you may feel frustrated with yourself, let down, and lacking in self-confidence. You might reach out to others in an attempt to validate yourself, looking for ways to boost your confidence. When these attempts fail, you may feel temporarily let down and discouraged. Rest assured that Saturn will re-work these feelings, with your help of course, until you reach a point (as Saturn moves through the house) where you have a stronger sense of self. This transit acts to transform your self-confidence in such a way that you question the source of your confidence to date, and discover a more solid base for pulling up inner strength. Saturn here acts to rip away the superficial. Illusions about the self, the body, and personal abilities will no longer be tolerated. The end result is a newfound identity and a realistic understanding of the self. In terms of career and projects, outward signs of progress may not be as forthcoming, yet the work that you do during this transit will lay a foundation for future success and progress! For example, some years ago, a client began a hobby/project during a Saturn transit to her first house, something that took up a lot of her time and energy and that yielded nothing in terms of immediate financial gain—until later! In fact, this "hobby" turned into her career in the years to follow.

wow. Can't wait. I like the idea that Scorpios are careering well, we'll see about that, I am on the 'cusp' of a change. I am friggin' salivating for differences!

Thanks for posting all that Hexxie!
