I must say that as far as signs go, libra influences take the cake.

shop22much,

Venus in 1st allows one to make a good impression on others...a venusian impression!
As any planet in the first would accentuate the first impression Pluto (intensity), Neptune (dreamy), and so on and so forth...

Libra placements definitely, Moon conj. Venus (Charming), Venus conj. Mars gives what is called IT in terms of sex appeal (kind of certain charm). Uranus conjunct Mars or Venus gives a certain charm as well.

Pluto rising (Pluto conjunct the ascendant or in the first house) gives a magnetic appeal that is considered charming and plain seductive -- to the point of inducing others to be obsessed by you.

shop22much ~ Venus square Pluto in their efforts they overwhelm with charm and intensity; they're very difficult to resist.

Regarding Venus conj ASC -- that has much to do with the sign in which its found, regarding type of charm and its strength.

Wouldn't it sort of rely on what one's opinion of charming is? Some people think bravado is charming. Some people think impishness is charming. Some people are charmed through wit, and others through intellectualism (I would think). Some people are charmed through innocence, and some by worldliness.

No one has mentioned the holder of the 'charming' moniker of the zodiac yet, which is Gemini, though there was that Libra in the 3rd.

Being charming, to me, has a sort of playful connotation to it. So when I'm being charming it could be my Gem ascendant, or my 5th house Moon. I do have strong Libra infuences, but I'm not sure that I'm prepared to attribute charm to Libra.

Taurus80 ~ In Gemini, referencing what AG wrote above, the charm is "intellectually" based or more geared toward wit and mental "love-making." In the masculine signs it should be more noticable than if the conj were placed in feminine. In a feminine sign the ones who would notice would have to be attuned to that "undercurrent" sort of wavelength because there it seems more unspoken. Based on what you're attuned to/what you find attractive would fit in to the degree of charm experienced.

For example: I am close friends with a Venus conj ASC tho his is in Capricorn - a sign not readily assc w/charm. He does not come off in the typical charming, effusive, complimentary etc manner. Seems gruff and very serious, tho to add he also has Moon and Mercury in this sign, but me with my Venus in Capricorn am attuned to the "hardworker hiding a rough and ready heart" image and found him to be very attractive and charming once disarmed. I'm sure that your quality is one of the more easily noticed, barring other factors.

Let me tellya- any combo of Leo and Libra makes me weak in the knees and charmed to death. A hint of Scorp of Cancer adds to the appeal.

Arnicka,

Oh no! Cappies are not associated with charm?
Think Cary Grant!?! Although we have to check his placements...he is one of the reasons why I like classical films.

Leo Rising are charming because they think they are...you know sort of working on universal energy, I am charming and the world adores me, the world eventually does.

Oh you know in the Chinese Zodiac, the three most charming signs are ROOSTER, SNAKE and DRAGON.
Rooster is very flamboyant (all about appearance), Snake is a seducer (both mental and sensual), Dragon is sort of a leader, looks like s/he knows what they are doing.

Then again, AG is right, it depends on what you are naturally charmed by.

Neptune's Muse ~ If I'm not mistaken Cary Grant possesses more than 1 personal Aqua element in his chart, and his manner portrays that, not the Capricorn "image." Maybe it's more like a mixture.. Tho in interviews etc I saw the Capricorn there. I will have to check for his ASC.

Agree with the Leo rising... I possess it as well and it can be turned on and off at will. Quite nice

The hands down most charm, grace, and personal magnet I know [and this has to be charming to BOTH sexes] is an Aquarius sun with Venus in Pisces. Mars in Libra [3rd] and Pluto conj. Uranus in 1st and yes he has a stelium 7th house in Pisces

Shop, I didnt see AG's statement as futile at all. In fact, there was more complexity in AG's statement than first appears.

Sure, anyone could say 'beauty/charm is in the eye of the beholder', but what does that truly mean?

In astrological terms, this saying carries more depth than psychological terms. This is because we all have unique astrological aspects, so something that appears charming to one person can appear less charming to another. The concept delves deeply into the individial make-up we all have, and how others make-up interact with ours in a composed dynamic.

For example, if we were to gather a Sagittarius, Aries and Cancer in the same room.. and then asked them to interact and comment on each others charm - then it may be that the Sagittarius views the Aries boundless and enthusiastic energy as quite charming. Yet the Cancer may see this Aries energy as a little overbearing. This is a very simple example, but if we then consider all the aspects we each have in our natal charts - the oppositions, conjunctions, squares, trines, house positions etc etc - then each of us reacts differently to anothers natal aspects. So charm/beauty IS subjective.

And therefore, a statement like AG's carries many questions with it - if you are prepared to ask them of yourself. If charm/beauty is indeed subjective, then it encourages the more intense study of our own charts in combination with the charts of the people we find to be charming. Then by establishing the angles/aspects between the two charts, a pattern might start to emerge.

I'll give a few of my own observations on personal charm.

My dad is a Libra, extremely charming guy, if we eat out in a restaurant, my brother and I always say he puts his 'James Bond' voice on in an effort to charm the waitress out of her socks. His own charm lies in his flowing and easy manner, his smile, and his positive approach to adverse situations - hes able to use humour to diffuse sadness, and its very charming to people who know him! But some people see my Dad as a little shallow, his humour isnt seen by them, and hes seen as quite a serious individual. He has Moon conj Pluto/ Pluto conj Mercury in Leo - marking his trademark charm and smooth positive approach. But he also has mars conj saturn in gemini - so if someones natal chart were to create more aspects to this Gemini part of my Dads chart, then they would miss some of his Leo charm, and instead view him as a serious, fickle fellow.

I have another friend who is a Taurus, and girls find him immensely charming in a very earthy way. He doesnt talk intellectually, neither does he look particularly amazing, but hes got this kind of boyish charm, cheeky yet grounded, daring yet comfortable to be around. This friend has a venus/mars conjunction in his chart, this was mentioned above as a possible 'it' factor. However, his charms dont work on everyone - some people mistake his boyish cheeky humour as offensive and rude and hes got into some trouble over it in the past - its even put me in difficult situations when we have been in town on a night out together - a group of guys will misunderstand his well-meant cheekiness and become aggressive, it hasnt been pretty at times, so his charm is a double edged sword for him, it can arouse anger or passion.

I have another friend who is very intellectually charming, his mind fascinates both male and females. Men like talking with him because of his flambouyant ideas and creativeness. And females are fascinated by the depth in him. But at the same time, I also know a few people who look upon him with disdain. They see his intellectualism as unnecssary and threatening, and therefore they look upon this charm as sometimes extremely annoying. This friend has Sun conj Pluto - the depth that others seem in him - but its in opposotion to Jupiter. So his intellectual humour may gain favour or create tension, depending on the angles a person is forming to this sun/pluto/jupiter aspect in his chart.

Many of the aspects mentioned in this thread above are great, they are brilliant indicators of charm - but that charm will not have the same impact on everyone - it depends on the composition of two people charts. Person 'A' could completely overlook Person 'B's charm because Person 'A's own natal aspects do not 'touch' upon the charming aspects in that person 'B''s chart.

I dont think a statement like 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder' is a thread killer. It can be a thread-blossomer, because it means we have to look a little harder for what we find charming (by looking at our charts in comparison with their charts), and then seeing which parts of them we are in 'touch with'.

hmm yeah.. that's interesting Betel..

I find I'm generally attracted to people who have similar aspects to me. I definitely find them charming.

For instance, I have a Venus/Pluto opposition and a Mars/Pluto sextile. Usually they have either a Venus/Pluto or Mars/Pluto connection.

I also have Venus trine Neptune and Mars conjunct Neptune. They also, usually have a Venus/Mars/Neptune connection. I especially find Neptune connections very charming.

Also, it's a plus for someone to have a smooth venus/mars aspect, not necessarily the conjunction, though I do like the conjunction.. but trines and sextiles are good for me as well. People seem more comfortable with their sexuality that way. I have the trine and I'm pretty relaxed in that department.. People with Venus/Mars squares make me a bit edgy.
