I don't understand half this board because everyone else seems to know so much about their chart and all I know is my moon sign and ascendant, I don't know what signs are in my houses or anything.

Also I would like to know more about the mercury retrograde thing. My fiance and I had an argument about 3 and a half weeks ago and he has not been in touch with me (we have a long distance relationship) and has made it impossible to contact him by disconnecting his phone etc. Whether it's because of me I do not know, he is working in another state too and I know when he gets focused on work he tends to ignore everyone else around him.

I am having a hellish time and would like to know how mercury retrograde is affecting me.

My suggestion to your feeling overwhelmed by the huge-ness of astrology is to take one planet, sign, house or aspect and read until understanding comes. Building on that foundation, go on to the next planet/sign/house/aspect. Understanding Asc and Moon is a great start.

First, let me apologize for not having gotten back to you on a question you had quite awhile ago. I found your question, and it led me to rewrite Step 6 of my astrological website in order to address what you were confused about. Keep going, you got through Step 5, with this rewritten material, hopefully interconnections in the chart will make a LOT more sense. Let me know if you are still confused.

And onto your question! (Finally! ) Since you got through Step 5 you realize that since you have Uranus (friends) focused in the 11th house (friends), you tend to focus on friendship. The thing about friendship is that it is NOT a relationship, friendships tend to be "close but not TOO close" so relationships can be challenging (especially since you have no focus in the 7th house (relationships) ). All this you know from having completed Step 5 (see how SMART you are! ).

For the rest of this interpretation, I am going to add in some new variations on the keywords and some terms not mentioned in the 6 steps of my website.

You currently have transiting (planets in the sky) Saturn (duty, also restriction, structure) conjuncting (energy is combined with) Descendant (others) and opposite (energy is over-excited by) Ascendant (self). At this time you may feel restricted by others and personally restricted.

This time of intense restriction is ALSO a time of intense structuring...a great time to learn more about others and yourself (perhaps through astrology). In addition, with transiting Pluto (transformation) conjuncting your birth Neptune (spirituality, also confusion), it is a time of transforming your confusion into awareness, perhaps with spiritual possibilities. As you become "unconfused" you begin to open up to and become more aware of the challenges of life.

This is more than a "mercury retrograde" effect, it is about opening up to your need for independence and structuring yourself and others in the way that works best for you. Since you ARE independent, it would most likely to be easiest to be friends with people first...and then see where it goes! If at some time they decide that they don't want to be your friend any more...that is THEIR loss. There are plenty more possible friends out there. The one you stay with will be the one who understands your need for independence in any relationship.

I haven't spent much time researching the sites yet. I have used astro.com so far and I like reading what it says about my planets in certain houses and what it can tell me about my personality.

I guess with your site wilsonctc, towards the end I get confused that the houses and planets are the same and I don't understand at all what I am supposed to do after I've found out what my planets are in (relationships, self expression etc) and the degrees just confuse the hell out of me.

maybe think of it like this ..
each sign (aries taurus etc.) takes up 30 degrees of the zodiac circle ..
so the 12 signs in total occupy the full 360 degrees ...
the degrees are read Counter Clockwise from the Beginning of each Sign ..
so it's Aries 0 to 29 degree .. then Taurus 0 to 29 degree .. etc etc ..
most charts have the degrees marked on the circle .. often in 10 degree chunks ..
and subdivisions of 5 degree .. and then the '1' degree marks ...

often the degrees a written .. e.g. .. 15.21 degree Scorpio .. .. the number after
the decimal point (.21) represents 'minutes' .. those are subdivisions of degrees ..
there are 60 minutes in 1 degree .. .. if (rarely) there are two more numbers after
another decimal point ... they represent 'seconds' .. again 60 seconds to 1 minute ..

Thanks for replying! I understand...I have so MUCH data...now what do I DO with it? Now that you understand the what each of the planets represent, you can easily find out about issues in your life:
Question about relationships? Look at the "relationships" planet, Venus and see what sign it is in (indicates how you approach relationships) and what house it is focused in (indicates goal of your relationships)

Questions about duty? Look at the "duty" planet, Saturn and see what sign it is in (indicates how you approach duty) and what house it is focused in (indicates goal of your duty)

Questions about who you are? Look at the "being" planet, Mars and see what sign it is in (indicates how you approach your being) and what house it is focused in (indicates goal of your your being)

And so on.

Try this approach for all the planets, working your way from being, all the way to spirituality, finding out how you approach each one and what your goals are with that energy.

Another approach is to take a look at what astro.com has listed for a description of each planet/aspec in your chart, and then right out the "astro-sentence" for each planet/aspect astro.com mentions. This will help you see the "big picture" of where all these interpretations are coming from.

As to degrees...you can ignore them for now. As you notice, on my site I DON'T mention degrees at all. For right now, while you are learning, trust the list of aspects every astrology list provides and learn the "astro-sentence" for each of those aspects.
