So I have a question. If my mercury is in retrograde, does that automatically mean that I have a learning disability? I never seem to do well on quizzes or tests, and my mind has always taken a longer time to register information. I've always "zoned out" during a lecture too, and I have comprehension problems. On the good side though, I am also very hard working and determined (even though I never seem to progres...). All of this information has been proven by an evaluator. Does this have anything to do with my mercury being retrograde...or are there other parts of my chart too?

Sun in 12 Taurus
Moon in 26 Leo
Mercury in 13 Taurus (retrograde)
Venus in 28 Pisces
Mars in 9 Pisces
Jupiter in 7 Cancer
Saturn in 25 Capricorn
Uranus in 9 Capricorn (retrograde)
Neptune in 14 Capricorn (retrograde)
Pluto in 16 Scorpio (retrograde)
True Node in 12 Aquarius
Chiron in 12 Cancer
Nessus in 0 Libra (retrograde)

Ascendent in 2 Sagittarius
Capricorn in the 2nd House
Aquarius in the 3rd House
Pisces in the 4th House
Aries in the 5th House
Taurus in the 6th House
Gemini in the 7th House
Cancer in the 8th House
Leo in the 9th House
Midheaven in Virgo
Libra in the 11th House
Scorpio in the 12th House

Hi daydream,

Quickly taking a glance at your chart and focusing in on your words "zoned out", you have Mars in Pisces in your 3rd house of communication. Mars in the 3rd helps make your thoughts impatient, nervous, full of energy and thus prone to neglecting details. Mars in Pisces may mean that your thinking/communications are clouded, very imaginative, creative and possibly lazy. Your thought processes are easily interrupted. You need to try to learn to concentrate and pay attention more than you already do. Don't hide from the problem, if you are prone to doing that. Tackle it and deal with it.

That Mars sextiles your Neptune and also sextiles your retrograde Mercury/Sun conjunction in Taurus in the 6th house of daily habits. Mars sextiling Neptune brings in more imagination and creativity into your thinking. You may like to think abstractly and artistically rather than logically.

Your Neptune is retrograde turning the dreaminess you experience inward. This can further complicate the trouble you have with your thoughts and learning problems. You may like to retreat into your own thoughts to escape.

A Sun/Mercury conjunction usually lends itself to being a quick thinker and a good communicator. However, this conjunction being in Taurus, a fixed earth sign, brings in practicality, rigidity, and caution, with possibly slower thought processes. A retrograde planet usually turns it's energy inward. You maybe able to express yourself more easily with words than with being able to write. It does cause problems with communications. As you mature and evolve through your transits and progressions, you may develop the skills to cope, adapt and learn to overcome the problems that you are experiencing.

The ruler of your 3rd house is Aquarius and it's ruler, Uranus, is also sextile your Mars in Pisces. Aquarius on the 3rd house cusp brings in inventiveness, originality and a different way of communicating than people are used to. You think outside the box! The sextile aspect helps to increase the speed of your communications and brings in originality to your thinking. You may like to think about inventing new ideas, concepts and objects. You maybe impatient. Your 3rd house ruler, Uranus, is conjunct your Neptune. This brings more artistic interest, creativity, dreaminess and cloudiness to your thinking and communicative abilities.

Your Uranus is retrograde furthering your need to be different from others.

Your Mars is the ruler of your 5th house Aries cusp. The 5th house rules creativity, play and fun. So the ruler of your 5th is in your 3rd house in Pisces. You are a creative and imaginative thinker! You like to think about having fun, and it's a form of escape for you because of the Pisces involvement. This seems to even fit with your screen name "daydream".

So to answer your original question. No, having a retrograde Mercury doesn't necessarily mean that a person may have a learning disability.

daydream,

That's interesting since I have mars in pisces and fit astroleolady's description very well too (altho that's merc in capricorn for me).

Taurus as your mercury sign will tend to make a slower but more careful thinker who focuses on practical results. So your mercury pushes you toward developing a stable thinking style that tries to avoid nonsense. That's working against the pisces and retrograde placements which focus your mind on the inner, subjective, and unconscious. All in all, your mind is trying to look at things objectively but at the same time you find that tedious sooner or later and give in to daydreaming.

Later on this combo could actually give you some creative talent. Meanwhile, if you allow your intuition to guide you while solving problems, you'll probably do a lot better while not feeling bored.

P.S. Be very careful that a parent/guardian/relative/teacher/preacher doesn't make an educational decision for you instead of allowing you to make the decision yourself. What they have in mind won't suit your needs and mental capacity.

-jk

My birthday is May 2, 1990 and I was born in Boston, MA at 8:40 PM. Some sources say I'm a Scorpio rising...others say Sagittarius, so yeah, haha not quite sure there. But yeah..that's my info.

Thanks for the data.

According to www.astro.com, which is very reliable website, your Asc is 23° 56' Scorpio and your MC is 7° 56' Virgo.

I would say your Scorpio Ascendant makes you a very determined person! A key word for Scorpio is determination. Another is motivation. Scorpio also rules your 12th house. Linking the 1st and 12th houses provides you with much inner strength and determination to get you through life. The ruler of Scorpio is Pluto, so Pluto is your chart ruler. You maybe somewhat shy or introverted with your chart ruler in your 12th, but you have your hidden strengths to draw upon if you need them.

Your Sun/Mercury conjunction in Taurus (a fixed sign) opposed by Pluto in Scorpio (another fixed sign) help to make you a very determined person. The Sun and Mercury in Taurus provides you with practicality and the Pluto gives them intensity, strength and power.

Your Leo Moon (another fixed sign) is your most elevated planet in your chart. Leo provides you with ambition. Leo's key words are "I will". That Leo Moon squares your Scorpio Ascendant.

Your Ascendant, Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Pluto are all in fixed signs. As is your North Node. A preponderance of planets in fixed signs means that you are resistant to change. They help to bring stability, stubbornness and determination to your personality.

Yeah..I think I'm a Scorpio rising too. Which makes sense...cause I am a pretty intense/dramatic person by nature. And I'm also very ambitious and hardworking...but I don't seem to go too far with it (cause my scores on tests are still low). Oh well.....

Daydream,

No matter how hard it is, please keep trying. One day you may succeed. You never know when that may be. It might just be a round the corner.

We all have challenges, just different ones to conquer. Mine happens to be my health. So you are not alone. Try to be strong and positive.

I wish you the best of luck!

---------------

lalalinda - thank you for the kind welcome
