My planets are all direct in my birth chart. However, my friend has most of his planets in retrograde. Can anyone tell me what this means specifically?born on 24 July 1986 local time 08:00 am in Ottawa, ON (CAN) U.T. 12:00 75w42, 45n25 sid. time 03:04:52 Planetary positions planet sign degree house motion Sun Leo 01°17'47 12 direct Moon Pisces 12°09'34 07 direct Mercury Cancer 29°35'45 12 retrograde Venus Virgo 14°23'41 01 direct Mars Capricorn 13°46'21 05 retrograde Jupiter Pisces 22°37'57 08 retrograde Saturn Sagittarius 03°12'50 04 retrograde Uranus Sagittarius 18°50'03 04 retrograde Neptune Capricorn 03°42'31 05 retrograde Pluto Scorpio 04°33'40 03 direct True Node Aries 24°36'28 09 retrograde House positions (Placidus) Ascendant Leo 27°00'48 2nd House Virgo 18°23'46 3rd House Libra 15°22'22 Imum Coeli Scorpio 18°40'28 5th House Sagittarius 25°18'02 6th House Capricorn 28°51'22 Descendant Aquarius 27°00'48 8th House Pisces 18°23'46 9th House Aries 15°22'22 Medium Coeli Taurus 18°40'28 11th House Gemini 25°18'02 12th House Cancer 28°51'22 IP: Logged |

According to March and McEvers, a retrograde planet's energy is directed inwards rather than outwards because the action of the planet isn't the same as it would be if it was direct. The actions associated with the retrograde planet are less overt and not as noticeable. Everything is directed in towards the person rather than outwards to the world and the environment.

Ha, I bought this theory without thinking about it first. I have all my planets direct as well but I'm an almost extreme introvert. Or can house placements alone override retrograde motion?IP: Logged |

Even if your planets are all direct in their motion: The overall chart shape, the placement of the planets in the 4 quadrants, aspect patterns, elements and qualities, planets in signs, planets in houses and interplanetary aspects will all play a role in whether or not you are introverted or extroverted. get "karmic astrology: retrogrades and reincarnation" by martin schulman, it's the best! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0877283451/102-7547965-4459344?v=glance&n=283155 here's some of the reviews:
Retrograde planets are often difficult to understand or explain. Martin Schulman explains the vibrational energies of the retrograde planets as they travel through the various houses. It is very hard to interpret retrograde planets in a chart, particularly if you don't have any retrograde planets yourself. You will find that there is very little written about the interpretation of retrogrades and Schulman has done a very fine job of explaining the energy of this phenomenon in his book. Mr Schulman was the first astrologer that gave me a balanced understanding of my retrograde planets. I now feel a lot more comfortable with their effects in my life. He is very thorough and insightful about the the energies that they represent and how they should be used. I'd always read that they were a big burden for me to carry but I now know that they are indeed a gift for me to use in working on my karmic challenges.
