Which bears more weight?

Let's say the house placements are not that spectacular, but the aspects are explosive.... especially the aspects that each person's ruling planets are involved in... Would the house placements act as a wet blanket, or would the aspects override any "average" or "boring" house placements?

Just curious

I think that they would override the "boring" house placements.

If you have great aspects in synastry between chart rulers, or rulers of the descendant, or personal planets, of course they would override the house placements. Not every married/close relationship person has planets in 7,5,4,8 houses.
Because, if you have Sun/Moon aspects, or Venus/Mars etc. you will still be strongly attracted to someone, regardless whether they are in specific house or not.
But if they are in 5 or 7 houses, the need to get it to gether, or get married may be more instant or urgent, while with other houses, it will come along slightly slower. Still, doesn't take away from the strength of the attraction at all.
I know a couple with no planets in each other's relationship houses, but they still got married. They were instantly attracted to one another, but he told me that the thought of marriage came a bit later, developed naturally with the progress of the relationship.
While most of the people with strong 7th and 5th house mutual placements had this instant feeling "this is my future wife/husband", or "I would love to have children with this person" etc.
However, even if you don't have, say 7th house placement, if you have the ruler of his (or your descendant) in strong aspect with your planets, it works the same as if the planets are actually in the seventh house. The same with the aspect rulers of other houses. I guess, it the houses are also involved, it just doubles up the meaning, thats all.

The Houses are by far the most important points in a composite chart. They indicte the areas in which the individual planet energies are manifested. The aspects serve to modify the pure plantary energies.

No house locations are, as you say boring. They provide the context for the whole chart.

Hi writesomething,

Yes, you know what I mean. Sometimes, regardless of whether we conciously want to marry or not, when we meet someone, we get this premonition of "husband" or "wife".

I've heard many people had this feeling when they met their future spouse or a long-term partner, it is just something mysterious, but it happens.
I believe that heavy emphasis on 7th house synastry (perhaps composite, too, I don't know about this), has something to do with it. They say that if someone's personal planets, esp. Sun, Moor or Asc. fall in your 7th, than we see that person as our "ideal" partner. Regarding that the 7th house is Venus (Libra) house, and strongly connected with relationships, this is perhaps not surprising.
I almost look at it this way.
If someone's say, Sun falls in your seventh house, that it is almost equal to someone's Sun conjuncting your Venus, especially if Sun conjuncts 7th house cusp.
It is perhaps not so instantly felt like Sun-Venus conjunction, but overall feeling is the same, the Venus (7th house) person looks at the Sun with love and affection.
However you look at it, it is very strong and important placement for relationships, I would love to hear someone else's personal examples!

As for the composite house placements, I am a bit uncertain about these. For instance, if someone's synastry has mutually packed 5th and 7th houses, then in the composite 6th or 12th houses would be quite heavily represented.

So, it makes synastric placements totally opposite in meaning to composite placements (5th and 7th houses against 6th and 12th).
Anyway, I am not sure if I am explaininig this properly, but it just doesn't make sense...I still look at synastry as the main indication of the relationship between the two people, and composite just as an interesting by-product. I don't know...

Of course, Taurus80

Say your 7th house starts at 1 degrees Gemini (this is just an example), and finishes at 10 degrees Cancer, then everyone who has their Suns between 1 degrees Gemini and 10 degrees Cancer will fall in your 7th house.
To estimate your seventh house cusp (or starting point), you need to know your exact time of birth.

Hi writesomething,

Interesting, I had fourth house moon with someone I loved a lot, and my moon was in his 7th.
I love 4th house Moon in synastry, a wonderful, cosy, homely feeling, really comfortable together and in tune with each other. Every time I would go to his home, it felt like my home, I felt wonderful there, really warm and secure.
I strongly believe that 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th houses are the most important in synastry, sometimes supported by 1st. I also often notice 12th house comes into play...

Hey writesomething,

We are both online together!!!

Yes, the same guy. My moon (and Sun) in his 7th, his Moon in my 4th, his 4 other planets (incl. Sun) in my fifth. Sorry, the moons were not in conjunction, but in trine.
What was really lovely was that his Moon from my fourth was also exactly trining my Sun in his 7th.
Don't ask why we didn't marry, too complicated story, but this is the person I wanted to have children with (his 5 planets in my fifth, his Sun conjuncting my Jupiter there).
But you seem to have similar positions with your guy, too...

This is a live thread! haha What's the significance of the 8th house in synastry/romance? His sun is in his 8th house, and my sun is in his 8th also.

His sun is in my 7th house, and my sun and venus are in my 7th house. My venus is in his 7th house.

I think he saw me as a potential marriage partner right away and long before I contemplated it seriously.

Do the outer planets placement in the other person's 5th house stir up as much for romance/wanting children together as having personal planets in the 5th? Like Neptune and Uranus, for example?

Hi CapGirl,

Your 8th and 7th house placements sound absolutely wonderful.
Whenever someone's Sun fell in my 8th house, I was MADLY attracted to them, like real magnetic sexual attraction.

Your venus in his 7th? Well, I would think that he would see you as his ideal partner, possibly in the way you look (Venus).

I don't know about external planets in the fifth, but I assume that they would certainly stir some kind of emotion, especially if they make some aspect from there with your other (maybe personal) planets.
It is sometimes sad that perhaps the timing is the only thing that is not right with some relationships. Perhaps, you two have everything going for you in the way of aspects/house placements etc. but maybe the timing is not right in some way. Maybe one person is just not ready for such profound relationship, I don't know....

Writesomething,

Sun - Jupiter is wonderful contact in synastry, really good feelings toward each other. It actually works both ways, here is my example, even though it is not the Sun.

My husbands Venus exactly conjoins my Jupiter in Scorpio. But it is actually him who is overly generous with me, you know, presents, affection, nights out on town, etc. Of course, I am nice to him too, and I really love him, but the generosity and grand gestures (Jupiter) comes from his side..

Don't be sad, it is lovely that you had such wonderul experience, many people have never met someone like that. It is a beautiful feeling to experience, and I am sure that there will be more of that in the future. Cheers, Selena.

I am Cancer, but on Gemini-Cancer cusp (June 23).

But, because,I believe, grand trine between Venus, Mars and Uranus in air signs (Gem, Aqua, Libra), 95 percent of all my relationships were with Aquas and Libras!
My first husband Aqua, my second, Libra!
The other 5 percent Scorpio and Pisces (Scorpio big Love).
And you?

Nice to meet you, writesomething!

I don't know that many Virgos (I don't think there are very many of you around!), but Aquarius, OMG, even my girlfriends are almost all Aquas.
Well, I am sure I will chat with you on this wonderful forum in the future. I like reading your posts, I am logging off now, going to the gym (haven't been in ages!!!). Bye, S.

that's a good point and I agree

my boyfriend and I have no 7th/8th/5th contacts in our synastry.

most of our contacts mutually fall in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd houses...

our planets aspects each other dead on...Venus conj. Pluto and Mars, Mars conj. Moon, Venus conj. Saturn..etc. etc.

the whole marriage idea is something that we've considered but we wont talk about it much until the relationship progresses to that point, basically. but it's still a very powerful relationship.
