I started studying Astrology on my own since 1994. I took out almost every astrology book the local library had. Most of it it self taught with a little help from my friends.Back in 1996, I started reading charts and have been doing that ever since - every once in a while. I was never one for classical learning in a school and found that I have been unconventional in learning matters any how. I like going at things hands on and doing the actual work instead of learning theroy and doing fake assignments cause to me the assignment is not real....Though I really don't knock the educational institutions.... great place for learning... My mom started studying astrology in the 70's, collecting and reading many books, so I was immersed in it from a young age. I actively started stuying it myself in the mid 1990's when I was diagnosed with a serious, chronic illness. I wanted to know why and how I got it. IP: Logged |

Astrology was introduced to me from my mother, I was already aware I was a Leo at 5 years old. I aquired an infinite fascination with astrology quite recently (about a year ago), websites like astro.com, have helped me tremendously, and Linda Goodman's "Star signs" book. But I'm still a little unclear on the house cusp aspects, when there's already a planet placed in a certain house. But astology is very hard to explain to the oblivious person. "No your sun sign is just one aspect out of your entire natal chart", and always the same response - "Huh?". IP: Logged |

Mostly on my own. I have probably read more than 100+ books on astrology. IP: Logged |

Oh, and I took a course for a few months with someone. Not sure it was worth the time and money. IP: Logged |

oh, God yes I know what you mean! I love bonding with other people who are interested in astrology about how the rest of the population handles conversations on the topic. Has anyone else noticed that very few people know astrology beyond the sun sign? I've met.. maybe five people (in real life) so far. I remember asking people their signs when I was a little girl, and then around the age of ten I started reading about it (also got books from the library!). I even ordered a workbook from an address in one of the library books.. and it was mailed to me (it was so exciting.. haha).. then I discovered the internet.. and Linda Goodman.. and astro.com.. and then one summer about five or six years ago I met a mysterious Libra Sun/Libra Moon/Leo Rising guru who had just back from Hawaii. We spent a lot of time in an apple orchard, climbing trees and talking about the meaning of life and eating mushrooms.. and he taught me a lot- mainly the details and beauty of how the planets affect one another, how they dance and battle and infuse and diffuse and so on. I'm another one who was introduced to Astrology by my mom. (Aqua moon here) She picked up and dropped many interests over the years, (Saggie mom btw) and Astrology was just another one of those passing interests. But, when she was on that kick, she bought both my sister and I one of those Astro-Analysis books, me the Leo book, my sister the Taurus book, and thus begun my untiring fascination with it. I've read and owned about a hundred astro books over the years, and still observe it daily in my life. It never ceases to amaze and impress me.IP: Logged |

Hey lioneye! My mom got me a Leo astro analyis book as well. But she warned me it would be a tad on the corney side, I can tell it was written in the free loving 70's. I love what it says about having Pisces moon: "Maybe inclined to devil worship, or join cults"... That freaked me out as a young teen, but so far I haven't joined any cults, LOL!IP: Logged |

Being a pisces, I think I had many numbers to end up learning astrology...However, for years, I ridiculed it (apologies), specially when friends read their newspaper horoscopes. Being very factual and scientific, I couldnt take it seriously. But...I started learning the funny way. I realised my exes/partners and I always ended having common problems, same like the ones I had with my brother (aquarius sun) and after a while I noticed they were all aquarius. So I thought there could be something there. Then I realised I had relationship problems with many taurus women (got taurus south node in 7th house) and I thought, there must be something in it too. Two years ago, someone asked me my moon sign, had no clue of it and decided to print my chart and go to the local library, where I spent hours reading...Well, finding out my moon in gemini was a relief, as I finally had answers to my scattered nature. And it was accurate and handy enough for me to continue studying. We humans do have a self-centred nature (yes, we do, even deep deep deep down), so self-proof was crucial to me. Now, sometimes when someone argues about its validity (like I used to do) I tell them its better to talk from experience and not from ignorance, so I advice giving it 1/2 months of study (with good books, I volunteer the reading list) to find out if it works for them (surely it will, even ppl I know who are very earthy "hide" their belief in astrology, they use it with their business partners, hehe) Once in London UK, I started my astro library (65 books in less than a year), go to seminars and workshops and got two good astro friends and its a delight to talk in the same terms. I do have friends who are not into that much into astrology, but many think it rings some bells (one converted, hehe) To finish (sorry pals, got a very talkative moon), sometimes I find curious that even ppl who claim they dont believe in astrology and who are born in countries where birth certificates dont include time of birth (or not by the time they were born) know so well even the minutes!
