I picked up Sydney Omarr's Astrological Revelations About You while in Barnes & Noble over the weekend. I didn't buy, just browsed. It was a Sun sign book, which almost lead me to put it back before really looking at it. The thing that caught my attention was his putting the Sun sign in the first house, and then commenting on what a couple of the houses depict. For instance, if you put my Sun, Capricorn, in the 1st house you get Libra in the 10th House. So he'd say that Capricorns are interested in careers in art, design, form, as well as law and politics -very Libran things. I think that works. Capricorns are very interested in both those areas. I want to know why Sydney put the Sun sign in the 1st house to come to those conclusions. Any insight? IP: Logged |

Acoustic,It sounds like some type of system of derivative signs to me. Normally we begin the signs with Aries, which is the sign of the raw "me-ness" of ourselves: who and what we are as living beings and we develop the signs from there, continually expanding out beyond ourselves. Sydney Omarr, in order to get at the "me-ness" of Capricorn, has put Capricorn in place of Aries. The result is to try to get a view on how a "true" Capriorn sees the world. Guessing, Tim IP: Logged |

It was interesting, because by that method secret dreams and fears are contained in the sign prior to your sun sign, because that would be the sign of the 12th house. So a Capricorn would secretly long for Sagittarian type experiences, as well as fear things related to Sags -maybe that they'll never be happy or something. IP: Logged |

Don't they call that a "solar chart"? It's not uncommon to do that actually. Sometimes a solar chart will be used in horoscopes when no birth time is available - I guess in this type of chart, the sun is being equated to the ascendant, in terms of how we interface with the world. I see the validity of it, but it also raises alot of questions. It seems to disregard the actual house placement of the sun, and all other planets in the natal chart. What about that? IP: Logged |

Yeah, and if you combine it with the natal it really gives you three sign influences per house except for Aries ascendants. My Sun is in Capricorn in the 8th House, so we have Cap and Scorpio combining. Throw in this solar chart, and I have Cap/Scorp/Leo combining. Interesting, huh? Isn't it great when astrology gets MORE confusing? IP: Logged |

No, that doesn't work. If we consider the solar chart's placement of the sun on the asc. to be the same as having Leo rising, then this would be true for EVERY solar chart. No, it's more about naming the sun as your main interface with the world, a role typically assigned to the ascendant. If anything, a solar chart reinforces the sign of your sun, because it's not just your sun, it's your ascendant too! If you really want to complicate the astro-soup, consider if the true house placement of your sun is considered your 1st house, because that's your primary point of reference. Whatever house is next is like your 2nd house, and so forth...Hmm. I think I'm going to ponder that for a while. Yeah, Astrology never gets more simple - we just uncover layer after layer of subtle nuances ....Gah! I'll NEVER master it. IP: Logged |

For clarification:I wasn't suggesting Leo Rising. I was suggesting that in a Cap solar chart Leo would color the 8th house (Like Libra would color the 10th and Sag would color the 12th). So you've got Leo coloring Scorpio ruled 8th house, which my Cap Sun falls in, making it a combination of Cap, Leo and Scorpio. Crazy. ______________________________________________________________ Your idea is interesting. If you just spun the wheel around and still kept the houses having the same meaning, then it wouldn't make any difference. If you spun the wheel around and laid it over the traditional houses, then you'd get something original. My 8th house would lay on top of my 1st. My 5th house would lay on my 10th, which would bring my Virgo Moon and Libra Pluto into my career realm. That kind of works. I'd love to make a living being creative and having fun. IP: Logged |

Yah yah. I see where you're going with that. Do you have any planets in Leo? If so, they would likely fall in the solar chart's 8th house. If not, then it's not an area being emphasised in your life, but when it is engaged, it's Leo-like... merrrow? And you have the sun there natally so, clop clop hiss meerrooow (cappy/scorp/leo) Ah, being dumb.Ok, personally, I wouldn't give the solar chart as much weight as the birth chart - If you get horoscopes based on the solar chart, I would suggest picking the horoscope of your ascendant sign. That way, when they talk about Mars transiting the 7th house, you'll know that you may have a fight coming with your spouse, or Uranus is approaching your 10th, you may have a suddem opportunity or instability in your career, for example. It's just a more usefull horoscope, reflecting your real world, not some myserious undertone world. IP: Logged |

Nope, no Leo planets. Moon and Pluto in the 5th. I've been told here that I look like a Leo. quote: Ok, personally, I wouldn't give the solar chart as much weight as the birth chart
Yeah, I understand that. I just thought it was interesting that Sydney was inferring things about the sun signs based on that solar chart. He based his love section on the 1st trine after your Sun - Taurus in my case. Career on the square prior to your Sun. Secret Dreams & Fears on the sign directly preceding your Sun. That overlay of houses has got me intrigued now. Maybe I'll experiment on that one just to see if there's any validity to it. IP: Logged |

Well normally when you look up your horoscope, it is your solar chart that they talk about. Like for Aries, they'd say things like.. On Wednesday, the moon was in your 10th house, when it was in Capricorn.. and they give predictions for Aries (Suns, not just Aries ascendants) based on a solar chart. Most of those places say you should read the horoscope for both your Sun sign and your Ascendant so you get a more accurate reading.. That way it covers transits on your Ascendant chart *and* your Solar chart.. I definitely think both charts count. If they count for transits, why wouldn't they count in natal IP: Logged |
