This is supposed to be a favorable Aspect in Synastry. Anyone have experiences they'd like to share?

i've been working with a professional astrologer for a couple of months now, and one of the things i've learned is that there's a lot more to the vertex axis than i originally thought. she says, when i questioned her about maritha pottenger's book on the vertex which i was looking to get (it is really hard to find, i think it may be out of print):

"As for the Pottenger book, so much is being discovered about the Vertex that I think her understanding has been surpassed, but it's always worth a read, just to understand what the Vertex is. My understanding of the Vertex came from extended conversations with a French Canadian astrologer who has focused on the Vertex for much of his career--in Europe the Vertex is considered a much more important axis than it is here."

she likens the vertex axis to an axis of spiritual awareness, it is where we are trying to be the best of who we are at the soul level. she says antivertex connections in synastry are very intense. here's more:

"This astrologer presented the vertex/anti-vertex as an alternate Asc/Desc axis. But where the usual Asc/Desc axis has to do with identity (self vs. other)in the here and now, the vertex/anti-vertex is an axis of spiritual identity. The vertex is the ascendant of the integrated self, and a place of spiritual power. This is why the encounters seem 'fated'. It operates on the level of synchronicities, and in any encounter or event where the soul is struggling towards integration. It's where we are trying to become our best self in the deepest way.

What I've found is that aspects to the vertex, particularly the conjunction, bring tremendous opportunities for growth. The odd thing is that they aren't always on the surface. You have to keep your eyes and ears open, and follow your truth, or they'll pass you by. I look for synchronicities when the vertex is active, or anything that seems to connect at a deep level.

From what I've seen, it's the anti-vertex that's the power point in terms of relationships. That's the place that we'll experience fated encounters. I don't throw around the term 'soul mate' but you'll find conjunctions to the anti-vertex signify deep, deep connections between people. They may not last forever, but these anti-vertex relationships always aid a person in their spiritual growth. I haven't seen enough charts to really be certain, but I have seen it active in the 'love at first sight' phenomenon.

For vertex/anti-vertex I look at conjunctions only. I haven't found any other aspects to be significant."

it is my understanding that the VERTEX person feels the most significant punch. i say this because in my current relationship (with someone from my past who just popped back into my life very unexpectedly) my vertex conjuncts his chiron. she says this means i identify deeply with his wounding in a very spiritual sense. she says his wound is at the essence of my being, and causes an intense identification.

so with sun/vertex i would imagine that the vertex person would be inclined to be deeply struck by the other person's self expression/ego identity.

hope this helps.

My vertex conjuncts my husband Joe's sun (in saggy.)
He 'fell in love' with me first. I took time. But he was very very patient, like he knew we were going to be something. And we are. Been together ten years now.
We were friends first by the way, which could be the saggy thing.
(Our mercury's are also conjunct each others in saggy!)

I agreed with chrissymgreen that Anti-vertex conjunction indicates love at first sight. For me, I felt in love with him within 15-min talk when we met accidentally overseas. It sound like he is the one my soul has been looking for. I never had this feeling before. Till now, I only ever love 2 persons in my life actually.

I would be glad if the VERTEX person will feel more since it seems to me that I probably loves he more than he loves me. Anyway, we are still friends so we are not talking about love. I do not actually know his real feeling since he does not want to say. One thing that I know is we were depressed every time we stop contacting each other.

By the way, both of our VERTEX is in 7th house. I think it reinforces the feeling.

evrything written about the vertes is the truest form of astrology through application and life experiences than I can even delve into...
Yes, it is significant to both parties.. conjunction sun or vertex party.
depressed, something missing w/out communication, profound spiritual connecction/deep understanding/fated encounter.
yeah.
Definately.

...i should say that it isn't so much that the vertex axis person is affected more by the relationship, but that the vertex person is particularly sensitive/receptive towards that particular planetary energy of the partner, and usually feels that energy as crucial to his/her becoming whole. it's a very powerful contact, but like all aspects alone it is no indicator of relationship longevity. usually, though, even long after the relationship is over, the vertex person will feel that something good came out of it.

So, in the case of synastry...what does it mean when your Vertex is conjuncting someone else's Vertex?

In the synastry charts that I have looked at, I have found that hard aspects, the conjunction, opposition and square, of the Sun to the vertex are significant.

Ummm....so what about Vertex opposite your partner's? That would make a double whammy Vertex conjunct Anti-Vertex. Does this cancel out the "karmic fate" or add to it???

so what would it mean if a person's vertex is conjunct (someone else's) both moon and mars, and trine/square neptune?

There are a lot of posts here with great unanswered questions. I'm trying to find that link to Vertex Aspects so it helps them out. Anyone know any?

chrissymgreen -

Since in your post regarding that material focuses a lot on words like "spiritual" or "soul connections", would you say that the Vertex feels most natural in Signs with those attributes? For example, an anti-vertex in Pisces Conjunct other person's NN in Scorpio?
