what is certain aspects are in opposition
by sign-but don't show up as aspects on astro.com? does this mean they still will
not be felt in the synastry?

ex: a persons ascendant and moon opposite
my venus by sign-but not shown to be in aspect. also my mars opposite his venus-by
sign but not shown to be in aspect. any
thoughts would be appreciated.

love,

Personally I only use aspect by degree, not by sign. Astrodienst only shows aspects by degree. But some astrologers do use aspects by sign with good effect.

By degrees,

Tim

thank you mr. tim.

i guess another question would be
would they would not be readily
detectable if not by degree?
I am just learning astrology so
i generally always went by sign
trine, sextile, etc. sorry to
be such a novice-but i have read
alot of your posts and you seem
to know alot. any input from you
would be valuable.

love,

Thank you for the compliment! There are MANY people who would have aspects by sign in their own chart and with other people's charts, but much LESS who would have aspects by degree in their own charts and with other people's charts. In looking for compatibility (inward and outward), I try to narrow down the aspects to as few as possible. So I use aspects by degree only, although I know aspects by sign have some effect as well.

See step 6 of the link below for a quick overview of aspects by degree.

Simply,

Tim

Well, let's say you have two Opposite Signs which tend to drive each other loony before too long. You go ahead and pick any two. Or they can be Squared by Sign ... OK ...

If the Orb is really tight, and you're going by Aspect, there may be lost opportunities to learn from each other because the tension is so precise like a laser.

But if your Planets' personalities are different than each other by Sign ONLY, the tension may not be so overwhelming, allowing you to at the very least hang with each other until you "get" each other.

That's just one example. It's not so precise a tolerance, but many places you'd never think to look (or what to look for) hold gold stars and magic boxes.

That's so well put AJ. I used to know two guys with an Aries Mercury. Guy no. 1 had his Mercury exactly conjunct my Sun at 13 deg. Guy no. 2 had Mercury closely squaring my Moon in Cap at 19 deg. While by sign they were both square my moon and conjunct my sun, I got along great with the first guy.. and I had some pretty big communication problems with the second guy. I saw the second guy as rude and it made me shut him out on several occasions.. which seems pretty typical of a moon/mercury square. On the other hand, when it came to the first guy, even if he was blunt on occasion, it wasn’t in a way which seemed offensive to me and like you were saying, the tension wasn’t overwhelming. If anything I liked his way of putting things because of the close conjunction to my Sun.
