Hello all knowflakes interested in synastry,

Today I've read an article in english papers about Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis. In short : she is the love of his life, the only one who managed to tame him, he adores her, they are very happy together, yadayadayada.
So, I decided to have a look at their synastry chart (no time of birth, just aspects).

They have in their synastry :

- Venus- Mars opposition and square (very tight)
- Venus square Pluto
- Venus square Uranus
- Saturn square Mars (almost exact - Dulce, are you listening
- Saturn conjunct Sun (almost exact)
- Sun-Moon conjunction (quite wide, but still...)

Now, looking at all these squares, one would think that they wouldn't have a chance to string along 8 days together, let alone 8 years, but there you go. They are still going strong and madly in love. Even if they break up one day, this relationsip was very significant and long lasting.

Of course, this is very interesting synastry for my "research purposes", because of what I mentioned in my other post - I noticed that Mars-Saturn aspects are soooo present in close relationships, even the squares. I just wanted you to have a look at this post, because if you ever see so called "bad" aspects in your synastry, it doesn't mean doomed relationship. As long as you have the positive Sun/Moon/Asc aspects, you should be fine, and have a go at it.

And they also have another thing which I noticed a lot in close, solid relationships and that is Chiron-Sun conjunction in their composite chart.
I will try to find their times of birth later, to have a look at the houses and possible Vertex aspects.
______________________________________

On the other note, while I am here and not lazy to write again.

The book I am reading at the moment, Skymates, pays particular attention to the seventh house in synastry. Basically, they are saying that if someone's planets fall in our seventh house, especially if it is stellium, we will look at that person as our "other half" and often experience the soul mate connection with them (provided, of course, there are other aspects in place, like Sun-Moon. They are saying that when we see in synastry Sun-Moon connection, it is like striking "the vein of gold"!).
I know that lots of people on this forum commented on the seventh house ties, so here is little excerpt from this (excellent) book :
" If your mate or friend energizes your seventh house, realize that in one sense he or she represents something you need and are drawn toward. That feeling of identification, that sense of oneness, is essential for committed love, and your mate can bring you that feeling"
"....your lover can seem like long-lost other half, finally found, and that is the wonderful feeling.."
"....If you stimulate the seventh house of someone you love, transposing many planets there, your partner can feel selfless concern and tenderness for you that is hard to match elsewhere.

They consider the seveth house hugely important, and the houses in synastry as important as the aspects. They are basically saying that if someone "is bombarding" your seventh house with their many planets, it cannot be ignored and it is very significant.

P.S.

I've found their times of birth. If they are correct, Johnny's Venus and Mercury fall in Vanessa's 7th house, his Sun in her 8th and his Jupiter conjuncts her Chiron in her 5th (lucky Her!!!!).

Her mass of planets falls in his 4th house, and her Sun conjunct his Vertex in his 5th house.
So 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th houses represented. Very nice!!!!

Greetings to all, S.

Bye now, S.

Oh, is this the one he lives in France with? Very interesting match those two. I was suprised to find out that she's a Capricorn. I thought she'd be aqua or something. Most gemini-cap matches I know end in disaster.

BTW,I f-ing LOVE Johnny Depp....gorgeous man

P.S.About that seventh house theory..... nothing of my boyfriend's is in my seventh house. Except his sun-moon far midpoint. And I don't know about me in his chart as I do not have a birthtime for him

Selena ~ You said you've noticed that 'Mars-Saturn aspects are soooo present in close relationships' and I thank you for this observation! My boyfriend and I have this. My Saturn is conjunct his Mars, in my 2nd house and in his 12th house. It is a somewhat worry-some aspect although we have been together for over 6 years so it hasn't 'broken' us!

`Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. This was not an encouraging opening for a conversation. Alice replied, rather shyly, `I--I hardly know, sir, just at present-- at least I know who I WAS when I got up this morning, but I think I must have been changed several times since then.'

Oh how amazing! I was thinking about these two people just yesterday and it always seemed to me that 'something' might not perfectly click astrologically but somehow they've been together sooo long! I take Johnny Depp as a source of reassurance about my Mr Gemini (who it was commented by his daughter's teenage friend a couple of months ago, looks a bit like Mr Depp - well I don't see it that strongly personally, but I think the Gemini influence/similarity in that regard is what is visible)!

Thanks for posting this! It gives hope to ALL relationships no matter what the aspects are.

Oh, for the 7th house theory - my Mr Gemini's sun, Venus and Mercury all fall in my 7th house, where I also have Venus.

She is Capricorn, so is Kate Moss...

Hexxie - no need to thank me, it is just the way it is, it is very, very common. And the conjunctions seem to be especially strong (I had the conjunction with someone I adored). Many long-term couples have Saturn-Mars conjunction, I don't see it at all as negative, like many articles on the Internet (quite predictably) do, and many couples simply have Mars-Saturn aspects. I mentioned in another post that it can actually mean very strong sexual attraction. And often, sexual commitment and endurance, if the energies of these two planets are used constructively. If anything, this conjunction is perhaps keeping you together, not breaking you apart! My parents, who have no significiant synastric aspects, have Sat-Mar conjunction and are still married (45 years). I really think that this kept them together, because there is nothing else in there!!!(Oh, maybe us kids, too, but we are not kids anymore....)
P.S
I have concluded that I am the ONLY person in this world who doesn't find Johnny Depp attractive. I never did, I don't know why, 'cause everyone seem to love him and adore him. I just find him somewhat feminine (and Brad Pitt, and Tom Cruise too). I actually can't think of any modern day actor that I particularly like the look of, I must be just very picky.
Oh, no, remembered...I adored the look of Joaquin Phoenix in "Walk the Line", my God, he is hot in that movie! A scorpio to boot! But I have never noticed him before that movie....

Interesting post, Selena.

Their Gem/Cap relationship does seem odd, but Depp has his moon in Capricorn, which may indicate that he has more in common as far as their natures are concerned than the public can imagine. He also has 6 planets in earth signs!

I also LOVE Depp. Hate to sound superficial, but he's just too hot!

I wonder what sign Winona Ryder is. I think they dated for a while too....

Actually Vanessa is a 0 degreee Capricorn - right on the cusp. His sun is in her 7th house and she has alot of activity in his 5th house of external pleasures, fun, sex, children; she fills that need. 8 years is a fairly long time but i think he was with Kate Moss for that length of time. The future will tell is this is a permanent thing. I think Magi astrology has them pegged as a more compatible couple

Whoooooweee Selena you ain't lyin' about Tom Cruise.....he's always turned me OFF. And he's a cancer like us. But you know what..... I've noticed that alot of celebrity cancer men are kind of affeminite. But the Cancerian athletes are a completely different story. One that comes to mind is Hernan Crespo from the Argentinian Soccer team

Selena-

we must have the same taste, I think Joaquin Phoenix is a BABE! and Johnny Depp really doesn't do it for me. Has anyone see Match Point? I think the guy's name is Johnathan Ryes-Myers.. or something like that.. but OH MAN.. he is gorgeous. Okay I'm getting a little off topic now lol.

While we're on the topic of Jupiter aspects, I LOVE THEM. They make the relationship so enjoyable. My boyfriend and I have a lot of "heavy" saturn aspects, but we have mutual sun-jupiter and moon-jupiter aspects (my jupiter conjunct his sun / his jupiter trine my sun, my jupiter trine his moon / his jupiter sextile my moon) and we are always laughing together.. we just make each other really happy..

Selena, when you say your parents have no significant synastry aspects, what do you mean by that? They just don't have any important sun-moon-asc or venus aspects, or they just have bad synastry?

Oh, and I never thought of mars-saturn aspects meaning sexual compatibility.. but if you think about it, it makes sense - mars= sex/attraction, saturn= longetivity/endurance

This IS interesting synastry...it's surprising they're still together after sooo long (in Hollywood terms). Good job! It must be the Sun conjunct Saturn...for better or for worse.

I am here just fleetingly now,

Bullhead - Jupiter brings happiness, enthusiasm and good will to anything it touches, and it is nice to have it in synastry in the house of romance, love affairs, fun and children. It is not the crucial point, but certainly makes things in this areas more jolly and fun.

Blue-Eyes - my parents are Taurus and Cancer (no aspect), but when you look at the synastry grid where there should be some aspects betweens Suns, Moon, Venus, Mercury : there is absolutely nothing there, it is all empty! I am sure they love one another in their own way, they are very protective of one another, but I wouldn't call them compatible. They have some other aspects, of course, and this Saturn-Mars, which may have helped enduring partnership.
I am not saying in any way that Saturn-Mars is the sign of compatibility, all I am saying that it is NOT the sign of incompatibility, that's for sure. It is just so common in committed couples, I think the astrologers should have perhaps another look at it, before automatically relegating it to the "bad" brigade...

I think also with the seventh house being activated in synastry between couples it's almost like they don't have to even do anything or try....they will happen. Regardless. My hubby and I almost 'fell into' being together. Sort of gently.

My sun, jupiter, mercury, neptune and venus are in his seventh house and his sun and venus are in my seventh house.

Hey LouLou.. that's awesome that your sun is in his 7th house AND his sun is in your 7th... how long have you two been together?

My boyfriend and I don't activate each other's 7th house, but in our composite chart, the sun is in the 7th.. which I guess could be a good and bad thing.

But his sun falls in my 4th and his moon falls in my 8th house.. very emotional connection.

Hey BlueEyes.......

We have been together nearly ten years and married for seven. It's been a good marriage.....we only had one bad patch, last year, which was intense but we got through it.

I think you do need more than the seventh house activated though. You having the 4th and 8th activated will certainly lend emotional connection I imagine!

My hubby and I are very solid, very dependable, and luckily our fifth houses are quite activated by each other also, which adds some fun.
Our only 'downfall' if you like is that he has only one planet in a water sign and I have lots, plus ascendant.
So sometimes I feel he doesn't quite understand me. This in iteself isn't a problem as I know he loves me, cares for me, etc. He admits that he finds me a complex mystery. Maybe this adds something?

sadly,no.
In an interview published when Lily-Rose was just two weeks old, Depp told an interviewer: 'Fidelity is fine in theory, but if it runs against your nature, you have to change. I can't be faithful. Half of me loves the idea of having two or three kids and spending every evening watching TV, but the other half of me will always need to stay out all night.' Surely this sort of thing must make Paradis very insecure? Valiantly, and in her idiosyncratic English, she insists: 'He has as much of his life as I have of mine. I am not going to eat it all. I don't want to know it all. Like anyone else's relationship, we talk about the past. We have all made decisions in the past. All I can say is that what happened with us was all very natural and it felt so right. There's no problem between us. There is no taboo'.
i was talking about this.....so paradis is practically admitting the fact she doesn' mind depp having adulterous affaires as long as he's willing not to dump her.....
********************************************
about the ricci thing
Just one month before the birth of Lily-Rose, there were suggestions in the press that Depp had been saying 'Hi' to his Sleepy Hollow co-star Christina Ricci, then 18, in London's celebrity hang-out the met Bar. ('They were all over each other like a rash' said one onlooker; 'it was disgusting, he was being terribly indiscreet' said another.)
