Okay....so I now know what double whammies are but after reading about them I am still unsure about something. For example, in my chart with someone I have a Sun conjunct Venus Double Whammy.

However, with this same person I also have Moon square Jupiter and Jupiter opposition Moon as well as Pluto sextile Mercury and Mercury trine Pluto.

Would these last two be considered double whammies? According to one astrologer they would be but according to another they would not be.

If they are indeed double whammies, what is their significance?

Thanks guys,

Love

I'd like to change my screen name to:

"Zthreadkiller"

would that work for me do you think?

anyway, Love, what are commonly referred to as whammy or whammies are actually blessed aspects; Sun and moon being the most significant and felt between two people.

anyone else?

swinging my scythe over here too!!

I thought double whammies were traditionally the same aspect both ways. So, both in conjunction would work but one trine and one sextile wouldn't.

But the same planets in aspect is very significant too, so I'm not sure...

I don' know if "Double Whammy" is a technical term, as much as a term of excitement for Aspects, (Natal, Synastry, Composite), which seem to coil together tightly, such as A's Sun's Trine B's Moon, and B's Sun is Trine A's Moon. Did I say that right?

Yeah, I think I did ...

But when you said "For example, in my chart with someone I have a Sun conjunct Venus Double Whammy." -- it sounds like someone dropped an interp you didn't understand. What DO you think a "Double Whammy" is?

As for the other stuff you asked about, I got curious about that too. I'd put the following 3 in this order :::

1) First look for Aspects with very tight Orbs. Give these priority.

2) Next, know that although you may be speaking of different Aspects, it shouldn't dismiss the relationship inherent in the Aspects, most notably "harsh Aspects" vs. "easy Aspects".

3) And lastly, consider Aspects by Sign alone. Example, if you have a Mars in Leo at 2.0 Degrees, and they have a Mars in Leo at 27.50 Degrees. You both have Mars in Leo, and you will find loads of commonality between you although it is not technically a tight enough Orb.

But since you are talking about a relationship, you would also consider "Double Whammies" in Synastry and Composite too. In a relationship you MUST consider both of these as well because you fill each other up with what you need. So a Double Whammy of harsh Aspects may be balanced out by a Synastry or Composite which magically brings balance to the tone of the relationship. You are stronger together than you are alone.

What did you find in your research of the term?

AJ ~

I know what a double whammy is...for example, my sun conjuncting my partner's venus and his sun conjuncting my venus.

I know that this definition also holds true for other hard aspects like the square and opposition, but I was not originally sure if the softer aspects like trines and sextiles were included in that definition. Apparently they are not included....

Also, the main thing I have been confused about is whether you can have, for example, A's sun opposing B's venus and B's sun squaring A's venus. From what I have read, that is still considered a double whammy, even though there is a square and an opposition.

Then I also wondered if that would hold true for a conjunction/square relationship or if conjunctions must be teamed up with conjunctions.

So that's really where my interest lies. I know that the orb is very important but I just have not been able to get clear on which aspects work with which aspects to create an 'official' double whammy.

Thanks!

Love

I still have not come up with an answer for these questions. Is it still a double whammy if it is, for ex, sun conjunct mars and mars square sun? Can you place a conjunction with a square or an opposition? An opposition with a square?

Lalalinda told me that you can place an opposition with a square but then I read somewhere you cannot but somewhere else you can. Still no info on conjunctions.

For now I will go with what lalalinda says and assume that opp/square work.

Ahhhhh...mercury retro. Hahahaha!

Okay, well one reason I am trying to find answers to these questions is that I have at least a couple double whammies with my pretend boyfriend and I am curious how many we actually have and the meaning of them...

Sun conjunct Venus

Mercury square True Node

And then:

Uranus opp. Jupiter and Jupiter square Uranus

Moon opp. Jupiter and Jupiter square Moon

Mercury conjunct Saturn and Saturn sqaure Mercury

So all I know for sure is that we have one double whammy - Sun conjunct Venus. A good one too.

The rest? Hmmmmmm....not so sure. And I don't even know how significant these possible DW's are if they are planets like Jupiter and Saturn.

So anyone who might have some clue, well gosh darn it, I'd be super grateful!
