Not to be putting too much emphasis on what's "good" or "bad", do you think that having a Mutable Asc is easier to aspire to rather than Fixed or Cardinal?

Or does the Chart learn how to merge with our Asc very quickly no matter?

huh?

When you "aspire to" something you long to try for it. I'll tribute that to Mercury retrograde.

I have a Gemini Ascendant, so I think I can figure out what you're trying to say.

You're asking if having a Mutable ascendant is easy or difficult, right?

As a Capricorn with a Gem ascendant, I'll say it can be troubling. Prior to learning about astrology my mind was just curious as to why these contradictions existed. Now I know, and now it's not a big deal. Now I can more fully appreciate my ascendant, and perhaps I do so too much.

In my opinion, the Ascendant is not something you aspire to.

Psychologically, the ASC + first house describe what was said to you, during your formative years, about "how you are"--including things they called you, such as "good-girl"/Taurus or "Question Box"/Gemini, etc.

From another perspective, the ASC can be regarded as how your particular combination of Sun and Moon "look".....with "looks" having more to do with the impression you make than with physical appearance.

yes Gemini risings are question boxes and full of mysteries themselves.

They are always trying to fix things too.

What about Sag rising? Do they have answers? It's not easy for me, the world is confusing.

I understand my Virgo rising sometimes. Or at least, I like to think I do.

When I was young, my mother was very adamant that I make flawless appearances. Unfortunately, my Aries sun was not too keen on that. I very much so had the "I'll do what I want!" syndrome. The older I get, the more I understand what my mother tried to do when I was younger. Not to mention, the older I get, the more my mother gets to be how I was when I was a small, small child.

I was so relieved when I discovered my Sag ascendent! All my life I felt so contradictory, much more restless and needing of change than my Taurus sun would suggest - I couldn't understand myself. But finding out my ascendent somehow made it easy for me to understand and accept the complexities. (Eg Taurus sun and my 12th house Scorpio moon want to be stay-at-homes and needing of security, but at the same time I need change and adventure! I've now integrated these things in realising that I need a secure home base from which I can 'springboard', to keep my life interesting and fun, yet always have a sense that my safety net is there if I need it)... I would say that we can all integrate the various parts of ourselves and therefore find more happiness, by recognising and being good to our ascendent, moon, AND sun at the same time.

GeminiLover- I completely agree with you! When I was just getting into astrology, I was like "wait... I am NOTHING like a virgo.." (my sun sign).. I'm probably the most disorganized, and messiest person you will ever meet. I can't count how many times I've lost my keys. I am NOT a perfectionist either, but I can be VERY self-critical; but I do correct other's spelling mistakes all the time which is such a virgo trait lol.. it's probably annoying to other people, but I can't help it.

My moon & venus both in Scorp make sense to me, but not the whole jealousy thing. I neeeed freedom in relationships, which made sense to me when I discovered I had Sag rising.

I dont really see it as an aspiring thing either, but maybe AJ can clarify what she was trying to say exactly since Im not sure. Ive always wanted to be a bit more like my Asc Since Libra asc is just so much more delicate and feminine than Gemini Sun; not that Gems cant be so but its part of the multifaceted thing and doesnt last too long. Whats funny is I can seem quite demure and traditional at first but when people ask me abt my opinions theyre so off kilter and eccentric (re: relationships etc.) that a lot of people back off (good, imho ). I dont see my asc as conflicting my personality it complements, but I do see it as a problem sometimes; in interviews, Im seen as not serious enough for the job or too feminine for the business jobs; sometimes people mistake me as submissive or passive when Im quite not !

I do like having an Asc in harmony with my sun though; I think that gives confidence and a good appearance overall.

I think I naturally come across as my mutuable gemini ascendant. Much more so when I was younger. I was the Question Box girl...ever so curious and annoying the adults around me to hell with the who, what, when, where and hows.

I don't ever remember being a question box. Maybe no one ever pointed it out to me.

AcousticGod -

I guess I didn't realize how layered my question could become, I think when I say "aspire to" I was leaning more towards Chart A in it's entirety "aspiring to it's own Asc" ... Another way I'm asking is, if the Asc is first and foremost the face we put to the outside world, analogous to a coat we put on or have on - is the Mutable easier cz it's more pliable? Is the Fixable more difficult cz it's more like a straight-jacket? The Cardinal more difficult because you become the head batton twirler for the whole parade and you have to smile even if your uniform is riding up your asss?

SecretGardenAgain -

Thanks for also helping to clarify.

Ha! Good posts guys - it's nice to read what it's like when your Asc doesn't match your sun sign. Btw, none of my Gem asc friends were called question boxes =) Is it easy for you to act through your Asc or is it a hassle?

With me my Asc as well as sun, moon, mercury, etc all happens to be in Cap. There's a few things I like about it but the 'staring at plants while among people' attitude is starting to really get on my nerves. So my challenge is to try to disown my Asc rather than aspire to it since it's just too boring living life through it. And that's just 'ella hard to do.

Ah, we finally get the clarification.

Most of my chart is in opposition to my Ascendant. I've got Merc, Venus, and Neptune in the 7th.

I have a hard time answering your question based on my chart. I have a lot of Mutable energy in my chart (Gem Ascendant, Stellium in Sag, and a Virgo Moon) to confuse what signal is coming from where. I'm not even sure that my chart is aspiring to become more like the Ascendant.

If you're not a fixed Sun, and you have a fixed Ascendant, it should serve to offer you more resolve. That's probably a good thing.

If you're not a Cardinal Sun, and you have a Cardinal Ascendant it would seem to give you more initiative. That's probably a good thing as well.

Those are my thoughts.

EDIT:
I just thought I'd add that I'm not sure how much my Ascendant comes out in my interactions with others. I'm pretty certain it comes out in written interaction, but probably not so much in face-to-face interaction... unless I'm drunk and having a good time.
