Hi guys,

Could any of you please give me some advice on how to uncover a person's most deeply-rooted, the greatests fears in him/her by studying any of his/her astro info available (the best situation would be precise and complete birth details which form a reliable natal chart, but that does not always happen)?

Thank you in advance.

You can get a sense of generalized fears by looking at the sign directly preceding the Sun. For example, a Capricorn like myself might be afraid of never finding happiness as Jupiter-ruled Sagittarians are known for. Sometimes it requires a bit of thought as to what fears might be associated with a sign, but it does work. Secret dreams are also contained in the sign prior to the Sun.

If you are looking at your own fears I would suggest the 12th house and where Saturn lies.

I have Saturn in Taurus in the 8th house - retrograde. I fear not being able to provide for myself. I also have Sun Trine Saturn by degree with Mars forming a sextile to Saturn while trining Jupiter and my midheaven.

Work is a release for me and I work hard and have achieved a lot. BUT, a combination of my planets pushes me to succeed because I fear the consequences of being an underachiever or having to depend on someone else.

When I am on the right path, my Sag nature takes over and I enjoy the good life (always mindful to put money away to make Saturn in Taurus happy). As I have pursued my goals I have also never stepped on someone to get ahead, lied, cheated, stole or backstabbed someone to further my accomplishments. I have stayed true to my Sag nature.

Becoming a despot, bum or having to eat cat food when I am 80 is my worst fear - because then I have lost my independence... a fate worse than death for a Sagittarian.

Now as far as trying to find it in another's chart - please be careful.... never use astrology to get into someone's head or to find a way to defeat them. I believe when one does that Karma will come into play and the consequences will be worse on the person that uses astrology for the wrong reasons.

For me personally (I don't know about others), but if u have a stellium in a certain house, u'll be compulsed to do whatever it is that house rules. For example, my stellium is in the 6th house, so I'd have to work, and if I feel in anyway not competent in my work, I'll get depressed (just like guys fear impotence). But I'm not a guy.....Thank God!....lol

Yes, indeed ya wanna look at Saturn - by sign, house and the house it rules. Possibly planets in Capricorn cause it may just have a Saturn feel to it.

Saturn rules my 8th, where my mars is located. Saturn is in my 12th keeping Mercury company and both are in Taurus.

Saturn ruling the 8th = fear of being in debt or owing other people money. This would explain why I refuse to ever get a Credit card.

To all,

this is a very useful discussion. I too think Saturn has more to do with it than anything else.

What if you have a stellium in the 12th house, located in capricorn, and your chart ruler happens to be saturn and it's in its own (10th) house?

I have Saturn in Cancer, and in the 7th house. Nothing's coming to mind about any fears relating to that... any ideas? I guess I do have a vague fear of never having children... would that relate?

I think Saturn in Cancer would worry on some level of not having children or not having a mate (7th house).

Saturn in Cancer seeks security in people whereas Saturn in Taurus seeks security in finance. I like to look at what the sign seeks as a Sun and that usually tells me what they are afraid to lose when Saturn is in that sign.

For example - I knew someone with Saturn conjunct Venus in Saturn. He was deathly afraid of losing people- relationships- of being unworthy in love. SO he collected "loves" had back-ups, never really let one go (he was also a Taurus). I was one of two people to completely and thoroughly walk away and that sent him reeling. He wanted love, from any source possible- yet he couldn't give it. His fear was of losing his grip or control over someone- he had Saturn in the 3rd and intelligence was a big thing for him. He was forever competing with me, whether it was about a definition of a word, how to say it or on scientific principles (he hated my ed background). He was insecure about not being intelligent when in actuality he was intelligent- he just made himself look like an idiot.

I think once we identify our fears, like with anything astro, we can learn to understand them. Fear is nothing more than the inability to understand something.

Thanks Pidaua, that actually makes a HECK of a lot of sense! Strangely enough, I was offline just before and thinking about my needs as a fixed sign (also with a fixed moon), and what came to mind was 'security'... and how I've needed my partners to be like a secure 'home base' for me... I guess Saturn in the 7th/Saturn in Cancer is really amplifying that. I never realised before that I do seek security in people... it's like I do need my freedoms and an amount of independence, but I fear my partners not being a source of security. That they might cheat on me, leave me, etc etc. I try not to let it show, but my current boyfriend sometimes says that I'm jealous (my last boyfriend said the same thing) - and while I know that's PARTLY true, I've always known it's related to something deeper. That I need to protect my source of security. It's not a good trait so I worked on it a lot in the past year but it does resurface in the fact that because my boyfriend quite frankly is totally HOT-looking(!!!) I fear losing him to someone else and I start wishing I had an ugly boyfriend. And you're right, it's good to understand these things... it's so helpful, that I can understand this a lot more now and work through it.

I just found that my boyfriend has Saturn in Taurus, in the 2nd. And he definitely does seek security in finance and fears never having a secure base in that way (he doesn't have it right now and it's on his mind a lot)... also I read that the 2nd house relates to self-worth, and he does have issues with that (and then overcompensates for it by trying to place himself above everyone else... in fact last night I told him he has ego problems!!!)... So I think I now 'get' that about him a lot more...

Thank you!!

I believe the Moon also plays a large part in fears. The Moon represents emotional security; what we need to feel secure. Usually our greatest fears are nuerosis triggered by some lack of security in some way.
Fears are often subconscious in nature~ 12th house, but also the Moon as well.

I like AG's theory. I have my Sun in Aries...The thing that terrifies me more than anything is being stuck, not being able to move, or being captive, I guess. Pisces is the sign preceding Aries, and it rules hospitals and prisons...Neither of which sound too enticing to me...

I have a difficult time with the Saturn theory. My chart has a lot of Saturnian energy in it. I always think of Saturn as a good thing.

"Saturn stands in his dark robe, veiled so that none shall see his face, for his face is too bright for mortal eye, and so many say he is evil, but he is a great one among the gods, for his sickle cuts the soul from the body. Resist, and pain and anguish is felt; embrace him and you are free, for great love has he for all humanity." http://www-personal.usyd.edu.au/~apert/zodiac.html

A person's 12th house is also a good indicator.

More about good old Saturn:

Ancient Romans conveniently happened to have a popular pagan holiday (holy day) season called "Saturnalia." Saturnalia, originally celebrated by the Romans each year on December the 17th, was a special day set apart for honoring the Roman god Saturn. This was a day for nostalgically remembering the "Golden Age" of Saturn's beneficent rule. Gifts were exchanged in remembrance of the bounty Saturn had once upon a time bestowed upon the Roman people.

For the ancient Romans, Saturnalia was joyous celebration of "the good old days" when everything had "once-upon-a-time" been right in the world.

First of all, I'd like to thank you all for your replies. I have yet to find time to read them through, but I will find time soon, I believe- and then I will try to discuss the subject matter and see if we can figure out something amazing
