Is the 7th house's ruler important in synastry? For example, his Mercury exactly opposes my Sun and his Sun exactly opposes my Sun. His Mercury is the ruler of his 7th house. And my Mercury is also the ruler of my 7th house. Does anyone know how to interpret it? Thanks.

Yes, the 7th house ruler is important because it represents the house of partnerships: both marriage and business. If his 7th house ruler (partnerships) is opposing (awareness/attraction/cooperation/balance/conflict) your Sun (males/husband/your ego/your personality), there's a connection. In synastry, we want connections. Connections are potentials. They increase the chances for relationships to occur. That doesn't necessarily guarantee that the relationship will evolve into a marriage though, but the possibility is there, depending on the rest of the synastry interpretation. We have to look to the potentials as a whole, not in parts for an overall picture of the relationship. And please remember, 7th house connections don't necessarily indicate that any union will last if there is one. The 7th house also indicates open enemies and divorce. In a similar vein, Cafeastrology has an interpretation for the 8th house ruler (no 7th house planet ruler info on the site that I can find) as an indicator for sexual attraction: http://www.cafeastrology.com/articles/sexualattractionastrology.html When someone's 8th house planet or ruler of their 8th house forms a strong aspect with one or more of your planets, you are likely to ignite passion in that person. His 8th house ruler is Venus. His Venus opposes my Sun with 7 degree orb. His Venus also conjunct my SN with 4 degree orb.My Mar exactly opposes his Uranus (0 degree) while his Uranus is in his 8th house. Would you mind to tell me what do you think? IP: Logged |

You are very attracted to one another physically and sexually with those aspects. Uranus creates quick and instant attractions, but not necessarily ones that will last. For lasting relationships, we need to look for aspects to Saturn. Saturn is the "glue" or commitment in relationships. Contacts to the South Node feel fated and comfortable. There's an ease to them. In my synastry chart I have:His Pholus is in my 7th house. My Vesta and Tanta are in his 7th house.
His Pallas, Chiron, Anter, and Vertex in my 8th house. My Aphro is in his 8th house.
His Anter conjuncts my Vesta and Tanta.
His Aphro conjuncts my Aphro. The Saturn aspects we have are:
Saturn opposition Ascendant Saturn square Pluto Jupiter square Saturn Moon trine Saturn Venus trine Saturn Saturn trine Chiron
------------------ Gemini/Cancer Cusp, Cancer ascendant, Taurus moon *29, Taurus venus, Libra mars *----------*----------* Things base and vile, holding no quantity, Love can transpose to form and dignity. Love looks not with the eye, but with the mind, And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind.

The 7th house is key in synastry when it comes to committed relationship, flirting happens in the 5th. You mention a lot of oppositions. I would be careful with these, especially when the sun is involved, because there may be some illusions going around, or idealizations. There are some imbalances you will have to iron out.
