SKYWATCH AUGUST 13 2006Once every two years (give or take the odd retrograde) angry Mars
will be at exactly the opposite side of the heavens to the chaotic
planet Uranus. It happened this week, for the first time since
August 2004.
Mars is fire, and Uranus is electrics, so put them opposite each
other - like boxers in opposite sides of the ring - and you have the
set up needed for some kind of incendiary explosion. In fact, this
could easily be one of those weeks when you come home and
wonder, "What is wrong with everyone?" Mars/Uranus is short fuse
tempers and lightening fast, knee jerk reactions. You can expect
people to be erratic, spontaneous and even shocking. If you're
already skating on thin ice with someone now, take it easy. This is
a smash-the-thin-ice kind of week! By the time you read this, the
link will have passed and we will be dealing with the aftermath.
One thing that's worth remembering with Uranus, though, is that he
is the planet who governs chaos theory - he will usually produce the
last thing you expected! Also remember that when the stars are as
powerful as they are now, there is sometimes a rather wonderful
reaction. I've noticed that - where possible - we humans seem to
bend over backwards not to be `done in' by the cosmic vibe. With a
little love and luck, we can all remember to count to ten, hold our
breath and generally not snap back at every last annoying comment
which comes our way now.
Pride could easily be the issue which sets us off this week, thanks
to the ever-more-packed Leo sector of the skies. The Sun and
Mercury are already in Leo, so we are all feeling a bit puffed up.
Now Venus enters the Lion's den. Woe betide anyone who doesn't show
us the respect we deserve. The good news is that a Venus/Chiron link
on Friday will give us the chance to ask for humble forgiveness, if
we need it (and if we can manage to eat humble pie and ask for it!)
